TRAYVON MOB Assaults Horse
A march in San Bernardino protesting the George Zimmerman trial verdict turned violent late Thursday, July 18, when protesters assaulted a civilian, police officers and a police horse, police said.
The Police Department received multiple reports of the demonstrators committing various acts of vandalism around 8:45 p.m. in the 200 block of East Base Line, department officials said in a news release that characterized the incident as “civil unrest.”
About 120 protesters were gathered in a restaurant parking lot and when officers arrived, “without provocation” the crowd began throwing rocks and bottles at them and passing vehicles, according to the release.
The demonstration aimed to protest the acquittal of Zimmerman, who was accused of murdering Trayvon Martin but was found not guilty last weekend by a Florida jury.
Police ordered the crowd to disperse and most of the demonstrators left. However, police said, about 50 moved behind a cinder block wall and continued throwing rocks and debris.
