McCaskill also said her camp most feared having to run against St. Louis County businessman John Brunner in the primary. She noted he would have been tough to campaign against because he had no past legislative record and “an unlimited checkbook.”
Claire McCaskill also admitted during the interview that she helped Todd Akin win the primary.
