In January 2016 during the presidential campaign businessman Donald Trump lectured Barack Obama on deal-making. Donald Trump condemned Obama for not forcing the Iranian regime to release US prisoners before any deal was made.
Donald Trump: I have been mentioning this so much. And I guarantee you the United States has been putting so much pressure, “Please give us our prisoners back. Please, please, please!” This should have been done three or four years ago before the deal was struck. Before the deal was made. And this was the world’s longest deal. They should have said we want our prisoners back.
On Tuesday President Trump announced the US prisoners in North Korea are on their way back home to the United States with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
This is a major win for the United States and President Trump.
Secretary Pompeo and his “guests” will be landing at Andrews Air Force Base at 2:00 A.M. in the morning. I will be there to greet them. Very exciting!
