PragerU Promises to Continue Lawsuit Against Google Despite This Week’s Ruling

Federal judge has dismissed conservative commentator Dennis Prager’s lawsuit against YouTube for blocking younger viewers from seeing many of his educational videos.

The lawsuit was filed in 2016 after tech giants blocked and posted warnings on PragerU videos on Google and Facebook.

The PragerU videos feature prominent government officials, Ivy League professors, Pulitzer Prize winners, and top American intellectuals sharing educational content FOR FREE; millions of people were understandably interested in these videos and view counts were rapidly rising. Over a billion people have now viewed the numerous videos at Prager University.

To counter this, Google slapped warnings and age restrictions on the videos in an Orwellian attempt to steer people away from them.

Today a federal judge dismissed the PragerU lawsuit.

Prager University released a statement today following the ruling.

CEO of PragerU, Marissa Streit, issues the following statement in reaction to today’s Federal Court ruling in Prager University v. Google/YouTube:

“Today, a Federal Court ruling was issued regarding our lawsuit brought against Google Inc. and its subsidiary YouTube, LLC. Already, some headlines in the media would have you believe we have lost our case outright. Quite the contrary, this is only the first step in the process and we join our legal team in its optimism for the future prospects of our lawsuit. We thank the Honorable Judge Koh for her thoughtful ruling, which allows PragerU, in essence, to continue our efforts. Far from an unexpected setback, we look forward to arguing the merits of our case in both state and Federal Court, as well as the 9th Circuit, or even the Supreme Court if that is what it takes to ensure every American’s freedom of speech is protected online. We remain firmly convinced of the importance of our cause and as such, we look forward to our next day in court.”

PragerU, founded by Dennis Prager in 2011, is a not-for-profit organization that helps millions understand the values that shaped America and provides millions of Americans and people around the world with the intellectual ammunition they need to advocate for limited government, individual responsibility and economic freedom. Since its founding, PragerU videos have received over 1.22 billion views, a figure which eclipsed over 625 million in 2017 alone. PragerU is a resource for all who value liberty. It is a threat to all those who do not.
