Will Donald Trump be the First President to Appoint an Openly Gay Cabinet Member?

Back in 2000 Donald Trump was interviewed by the gay Advocate magazine.

This was after eight years of Bill and Hillary Clinton in the White House.

Donald Trump in 2000 defended gays from the Clintons.

Here are a couple of paragraphs from the Advocate interview from 2000, via Prntly:

Why should gays and lesbians be interested in you as a presidential candidate?
I grew up in New York City, a town with different races, religions, and peoples. It breeds tolerance. In all truth, I don’t care whether or not a person is gay. I judge people based on their capability, honesty, and merit. Being in the entertainment business — that is, owning casinos and … several large beauty pageants — I’ve worked with many gay people. I have met some tough, talented, capable, terrific people. Their lifestyle is of no interest to me.

Would we see gay people in a Trump administration?
I would want the best and brightest. Sexual orientation would be meaningless. I’m looking for brains and experience. If the best person for the job happens to be gay, I would certainly appoint them. One of the key problems today is that politics is such a disgrace, good people don’t go into government. I’d want to change that.

This week Donald Trump won the election for President of the United States with 306 electoral votes.

Donald Trump announced his Transition Team on Friday afternoon.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence will take over the job of leading the Trump Transition Team from Governor Chris Christie.

Donald Trump has included three of his adult children on the team, Don Jr, Ivanka and Eric, along with Jared Kushner, his son in law.

Gay Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel and Campaign manager Stephen K. Bannon will also be part of the team as well as donor Rebekah Mercer and RNC chairman Reince Priebus.

And now Donald Trump is putting together the Trump Cabinet. The New York Times today published a list of possibilities for the Trump cabinet and other key roles.

For the position of UN Ambassador there are two names mentioned: Senator Kelly Ayotte, who lost her election on Tuesday and refused to endorse Donald Trump for president, and Richard Grenell, the former spokesperson for the US ambassador to the United Nations.

Richard Grenell was the longest serving US spokesman at the United Nations. He is a FOX News Foreign Policy contributor. Richard is pro-life and pro-Second Amendment.

If you have ever heard Richard on FOX you know he is a total conservative and very much pro-Trump.

Richard is also gay. If Richard Grenell was appointed UN Ambassador in the Trump administration he would be the first openly gay cabinet member in US history. More importantly, Richard is qualified for the job and is a HUUGE Trump supporter.

Let’s hope Trump appoints Richard as his ambassador to the UN.
It would be the right thing to do.
