UPDATE: ATTACKER DEAD. Police in the town of Charleroi, Belgium reported Saturday that two of their officers were attacked by man wielding a machete who yelled. “Allahu akbar.” One of the two officers was reported wounded in the attack. A third officer shot and wounded the attacker.

In het centrum van Charleroi zijn na de middag twee politieagenten neergestoken bij het politiebureau in de Boulevard Pierre Mayence. Volgens de politie riep de dader ‘Allahoe Akbar’ (‘God is groot’).
De aanvaller zou gewapend zijn geweest met een steekwapen, een mes of een machete. Volgens RTL is een van de slachtoffers een vrouw. Een derde agent schoot de aanvaller neer.Getuigen melden aan RTL dat ze iets na 16 uur schoten hoorden in de buurt van het politiebureau. Een ambulance kwam ter plaatse en alle combi’s keerden terug naar het bureau. De politie zou iedereen gevraagd hebben binnen te blijven en de woningen gesloten te houden.
Rond de Boulevard Pierre Mayence is een veiligheidsperimeter ingesteld.”

The attacker would have been armed with a pointed weapon, a knife or machete. According to RTL is a woman of the victims. A third officer shot the attacker.Witnesses report RTL they heard anything after 16 hours shots near the police station. An ambulance arrived at the scene and all combis returned to the office. The police would have asked everyone to stay inside and keep the property closed.
