Media Protects Hillary Clinton after Weekend of Mega-Fundraisers with Elitist Donors (Updated)

UPDATE AT END OF ARTICLE. Hillary Clinton attended two mega-fundraisers in the Hamptons on Long Island, New York on Sunday where she raised well over $3 million–and the media (with rare exception on Twitter) is not reporting on the Democratic presidential nominee’s activities for the days.

There are no articles on Clinton’s Sunday fundraisers, just a one line mention with no details by the AP buried deep in a story about Clinton’s rival Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump (“Clinton on Sunday was raising campaign money in the Hamptons, a vacation spot for the wealthy on Long Island.”) Other than that, nothing, even though Sunday marks the start of a three-day fundraising blitz in the Hamptons by Clinton.

Only three tweets by reporters were found in searches on Clinton’s Sunday fundraisers.

Politico’s Gabriel Debenedetti:

https://twitter.com/gdebenedetti/status/770028582282428416

“Clinton’s August $ haul is likely to be just enormous after her nationwide tour: her 2nd fundraiser today—Bridgehampton—raised @ least $3.3m”

The AP’s Andrew Harnik posted two photos:

“Pool hold toy cars, Hamptons, Ny. #hillaryinthehamptons #hillaryclinton #hillary #clinton … http://ift.tt/2c0jpfV”

“Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton arrives for a fundraiser at a private home in North Haven, N.Y., Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016.”

(Note as of time of publication of this article, neither of Harnik’s photos had been retweeted or favorited.)

A Google News search shows no mentions on Sunday of Clinton’s fundraising (for example, No results for Hillary Clinton “North Haven”) with the exception of the buried one line by the AP.

As of this writing there are no other reports or photos on Twitter of Clinton’s fundraisers besides the tweets by Politico’s Gabriel Debenedetti and AP photographer Andrew Harnik.

One has to go back over a week toPage Six, Newsday or the Hollywood Reporter of to learn details of Clinton’s Sunday fundraising–or scour the Southampton Patch.

Page Six, August 18:

“The same day Hillary Clinton hits a fundraiser at musician Jimmy Buffett’s Hamptons home she’ll get a fundraising boost from “Batman Returns” and “Heat” musical conductor Jonathan Sheffer at his Sagaponack estate…”

… “And Hillary will be at a “Family Garden Party” on Aug. 28 in Sag Harbor, as well as a cocktail reception in Southampton. And on Aug. 29, she’ll be at two events in East Hampton and Quogue. “

Newsday, August 12:

“Hillary Clinton is heading to the Hamptons at the end of the month for a three-day fundraising sprint that includes a dinner hosted by singers Jimmy Buffett and Jon Bon Jovi, according to sources familiar with the Democratic presidential candidate’s fundraising schedule.”

The Hollywood Reporter, August 18:

“Meanwhile, New York Giants co-owner Jonathan Tisch is huddling with real estate magnate Bill Rudin to host a dinner for Hillary Clinton on Aug. 28 at his Bridgehampton home, where seats will run $33,400 each, just one event among at least seven with price tags up to $100,000 that have even Hamptons people feeling priced out.”

It seems the media decided the story this Sunday was Donald Trump’s campaign so they let Hillary Clinton mega-fund raise without scrutiny.

UPDATE: Very late night reports by CNN’s Dan Merica after no reports all day on Clinton’s day. He can say he reported it but not many people will see his tweets over night as they would have during the day.

“Big money day for Clinton in the Hamptons: HRC raised over $11 million at three fundraisers, based on ticket prices & attendance figures.”

“One event, hosted by @Giants co-owner Jon Tisch, raised over $6 million.”
