Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton held a mega-fundraiser Tuesday night at the Hamptons hosted by aging rocker Jimmy Buffett. The event capped a three day fundraising blitz among the Hamptons monied elite that raised a reported $11 million.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by Buffett, New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi and Beatles icon Paul McCartney.
McCartney reportedly danced with Hillary during Buffett’s performance of Cheeseburger in Paradise.
Later McCartney played four songs: Jet, Can’t Buy Me Love, Lady Madonna and Hey Jude.
McCartney, according to pool reporter Evan Halper with the LA Times, told the crowd at the fundraiser as he took the stage. “This is the first time I’ve paid to hear myself sing.”
Federal law prohibits non-U.S. citizens like British citizen McCartney from contributing to federal election candidates like Clinton.
However, McCartney’s wife Nancy Shevell is a U.S. citizen and could legally donate to Clinton unless it was money given to her by McCartney which would be illegal.
A copy of the pool report by Halper was posted by Time’s Zeke Miller.
