Trump to roll out potential Cabinet picks at convention: report

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump reportedly plans to roll out the names of potential Cabinet members this week, after his vice presidential announcement failed to generate the enthusiasm he was hoping for, The Huffington Post reported.

Breitbart News reported that Trump will make announcements about his potential Cabinet members during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

“I think that Trump is going to name a prospective Cabinet, and there is of course a way to do this in a way that is perfectly legal,” Trump ally Roger Stone said during an interview set to air Sunday night on the “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio.”

“Because technically, of course, to promise someone a federal job is a crime so Trump could theoretically say, ‘For CIA director I would appoint Gen. Mike Flynn or someone like him,’” he said, according to Breitbart.

Trump was reportedly frustrated about the rollout of his announcement that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence would serve as his running mate.

He was unable to tell the other top contenders for the position — former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — about his choice before news had leaked, according to The Huffington Post. News surfaced on Thursday that Trump was going to choose Pence, ahead of a joint appearance that was supposed to take place Friday.

After a terror attack in Nice, France, on Thursday night, Trump postponed the event and unveiled his decision on Twitter Friday morning.

Several reports have since surfaced that Trump had second thoughts on Thursday night about his decision and tried to get out of it.

According to The Huffington Post, Trump wants to name Christie his attorney general.

Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, who was also rumored as a potential vice presidential pick for Trump, may be floated to serve as Defense secretary.
