Gustavo Tijerina and Ismeal Hernandez Vallejo were charged with capital murder of off duty US border agent Javier Vega. Both men are in the country illegally. (KRGV)
A copy of a leaked email by an angry Border Patrol Agent obtained by The Gateway Pundit vents outrage at the Obama administration over the murder of Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega. Vega was reportedly murdered by two illegal aliens from Mexico this past Sunday in Santa Monica, Texas, a small town in a county once removed from the Mexico border on the Gulf Coast.
The email is a reaction to a statement by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on Vega’s death that was emailed to employees that failed to acknowledge Vega was murdered in a robbery by two illegal aliens. The email was forwarded by an anonymous source in Homeland Security who shares the sentiments of the agent.
While Johnson’s email was not shared, similar language was employed in a press release issued Tuesday in Johnson’s name by DHS (bold added):
“Statement by Secretary Johnson on the Death of Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega
“It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega, who was killed in South Texas on Sunday evening while off-duty. Agent Vega was based at the Kingsville Station of the Rio Grande Valley sector. He was a devoted husband and father, a Marine Corps veteran, and a proud member of the United States Border Patrol. He loved his country and served as a Border Patrol Agent for more than six years. DHS continues to support the investigation into his death in close collaboration with federal, state, and local law enforcement.”
Johnson’s bureaucratic statement avoided the embarrassing-to-the-Obama-administration reality that another Border Patrol Agent was killed on its watch as a direct failure to secure the border with Mexico.
The email was forwarded with this addition by another DHS worker:
“Another further indication of our leadership
“This was sent out by another agent but to protect his ID I took off the distribution list”
The email begins:
“Killed while “Off- duty”? This is all you have to say to US about the murder of a Border Patrol Agent by previously deported illegal aliens?!?!?! Thanks to the failed immigration policies of this administration something like this occurs and you don’t want to even acknowledge the actual events in your email to employees of DHS? Off duty makes it sound like a car accident, a heart attack, maybe something else……but really????????? Disrespectful at the least and downright shameful in my opinion! This is what we should expect from the head of our agency? The INA exists for a reason……ADHERE TO IT.”
INA stands for the Immigration and Nationality Act—what the Obama administration is supposed to be enforcing instead of gutting.
The email continues:
“Maybe our military pilots can get some much needed flight time and training in by loading C-17s with illegal aliens and flying them to their home countries and maybe, just maybe, someone will decide that it is time to take some real steps to secure the border. Half the politicians out there don’t even know what the names of the agencies and what they do when they talk about immigration and securing the border. It’s not “border guards”. It’s Border Patrol Agents. Ignorance spawns failure, and ignorance runs amuck in Washington D.C.
“Just my thoughts for what it is worth.”
The email closed with a link to a Fox News article by Jana Winter about the two alleged killers of BPA Vega having been deported numerous times for being in the United States illegally.
Winter attended the arraignment hearing Tuesday for the two accused killers, Ismael Hernandez and Gustavo Tijerina.
Winter interviewed Santa Monica Sheriff Larry Spence who told her the duo has confessed to robbing Vega and his family and ‘indicated they knew they had killed someone, but did not know it was an off-duty Border Patrol agent…’
Another DHS worker reportedly said of morale at the department after the murder of BPA Vega by alleged illegal aliens that it is similar to the 71% of Americans in a recent poll who believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. The DHS worker said the same is true (headed in the wrong direction) for ICE and DHS.
