Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura joined the “CBS This Morning” co-hosts Wednesday to discuss the details of his legal battle with a former U.S. sniper. On Tuesday a federal jury awarded Jesse Ventura $1.8 million in his case against Kyle’s widow.
The former governor told CBS:
“I’m already damaged. I can’t go to a SEAL reunion anymore. That was the one place I felt safe. I can’t go there anymore. I’ll be looking over my shoulder now wondering who’s going to come after me next. And, so don’t think I come out of this unscathed. All I wanted to do was clear my name and it has nothing to do with a widow or anything like that. It was me against an insurance company… I’m not getting hammered in the court of public opinion. People are walking up to me everyday and shaking my hand. How am I getting hammered in the court of public opinion?”
Ventura said he would use the money to pay his lawyers.
Ventura may have won the lawsuit but didn’t gain many friends after suing the widow of an American hero.
