Catholic Culture reported:
Pope Francis met on March 21 with Malta’s President George Abela, for a conversation that centered on the deep influence of Christianity in the life of Malta. The two also spoke about European issues, particularly immigration.
The ceremonial exchange of gifts between the Pontiff and the Maltese leader took an unusual turn when Abela’s grandson, 4-year-old Luca Abela, presented Pope Francis with a gift of his own: a plastic toy dinosaur. The Pope reportedly broke with protocol to use the gift immediately, playing with Luca and three other young children in the Maltese delegation.
