Happy Easter 2013 – “He Is Risen”

HAPPY EASTER 2013
John 10:17-18

“For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. “No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.”

Pope Francis celebrated his first “Urbi et Orbi” address as pope.
It was a plea for peace.
The BBC reported:

Pope Francis has delivered a passionate plea for peace in his first Easter Sunday message since being elected.

Francis used his “Urbi et Orbi” address to call for peace in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and across the globe.

He singled out “dear Syria”, saying: “How much blood has been shed! And how much suffering must there still be before a political solution is found?”

Easter is the most important festival in the Christian calendar and pilgrims have attended church across the world.

From 5:15pm until 6:40 this Easter afternoon, there will be an extraordinary exposition of the Holy Shroud in the Cathedral of Turin, Italy. The initiative is part of the Year of Faith that was proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI and will be broadcast by the Italian television channel, RAI1. The Shroud of Turin– believed by some to contain an image of the crucified body of Jesus– dates back to between 280 B.C. and A.D. 220, within the range of Jesus’ lifetime.
