Turkish officials identified the bomber today at the US Embassy in Ankara.

WPTV reported:

The blast killed a Turkish security guard, authorities say. The bomber died.

Istanbul police identified the bomber as Ecevit Shanli, a member of DHKP-C, a Marxist Leninist terror group.

There are conflicting accounts concerning how many were wounded.

Officials are not ruling out that the bomber was working with Syrian or Iranian agencies. A Syrian convoy was bombed by Israel earlier in the week while traveling to Lebanon.

    It wouldn’t matter if he was. Even if the proverbial smoking gun that definitively proved he was carrying out one of those agencies’ plans was uncovered, the current regime in Washington is unlikely to respond with anything other than a sternly-worded statement.
