Paul Krugman: GOP Leadership Is Holding the Spending Country Hostage

Nobel-Prize winning crank Paul Krugman whined today that the Republican leadership is holding the unsustainable spending country hostage. Keynesian Krugman believes Democrats should be allowed to spend as much as they want, whenever they want, on whatever they want, without having to stand before the Republicans and be held accountable… Deficit be damned!

Krugman is also a big fan of trillion dollar coins. (BizSmart)

The Huffington Post reported:

Paul Krugman on Sunday accused the Republican leadership of holding the country hostage.

The Nobel-Prize winning economist and New York Times columnist argued that congressional Republicans are “threatening to blow up the world economy” if they don’t get their way in the debt-ceiling debate. After a difficult fiscal cliff battle, President Barack Obama said he would not negotiate over the debt ceiling, but Republicans have said they won’t authorize an increase in the country’s spending limit without major spending cuts.

“We should not allow this to become thought of as a legitimate or normal budget strategy,” Krugman said on ABC’s “This Week.” “This is hostage taking.”

Krugman has made similar statements in the past, particularly when defending the idea of minting a trillion-dollar platinum coin to avoid the debt ceiling crisis.

There you go, a constant. GOP under attack and who are the courageous to counter these attacks. The good ones are dead and buried. I haven’t seen true fighters for right and those who will stand up to Obama propaganda. It is a recipe for hate and attacks on the GOP and frankly I won’t bite.

Ever think being under constant attack is a sign that you might be wrong?

Rassmussen poll out on Saturday January 15 reveals, 68% Say Cutting Government Spending Solution To Economic Problems.

The population does not buy the usual scare tactics of the socialist, liberal fanatics in the Obama liar czar community.

On the other hand. The low information voter is a totally gullible.

Kudos to the GOP for drawing the line in the sand. We cannot continue to pile on to an insurmountable debt that can never be paid back and that will drag the economy down into complete meltdown. As we must do personally, the government must work within their means. When did we lose sight of the facts that these turds work for us?

  • donh

Well …The Democrats would rather doom the entire world economy than agree to cut even 5 cents from a 4 trillion budget that is over 1 trillion out of balance…… Fund Big Bird another 50 million……… OR EVERYONE DIES !

    Paul who?

  • Exile1981

    @ #3

Nope, we and our way of life are under constant attack because the enemy doesn’t believe in civility and because we allowed the left to hijack the press and make it over into propaganda based media we currently have.

Kudos to the GOP for drawing the line in the sand.

It’s best to wait a while before dispensing that. The GOP’s resolve typically has the resilience of a house of cards.

Apparently, “a legitimate or normal budget strategy” is to refuse to pass a budget (or even propose and vote on a budget in the Budget Committee) for 5 years.

OT: Biden’s gun violence task force was very carefully and methodically set up to come to a consensus that ‘crazies with guns kill people (kids). Even the NRA said that, so who can argue? So the solution will be to keep guns away from anyone with a mental defect.

Many of the left wing media have already made the case that the all gun owners are mentally deficient.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that doctors under Obamacare are now required to ask their patients if they own guns?

Connect the dots folks, connect the dots.

  • Multitude

We have a terrorist in the White House demanding “I get my way or I blow it all up – no negotiating!” and Krugman blames the civilized folks?

Guess we know what Krugman is too…

  • jainphx

    Krugman= insanity! enough said!

Didn’t a junior senator named Barack Obama vote NOT to raise the debt ceiling when the Republicans wanted it raised during Bush’s second term? Because burdening future generations with enormous debt was unpatriotic?

Liberals are a group of humans that would have died off naturally if it weren’t for
modern technology and forced “charity”. Hell, they kill their own unborn by the millions.
Every problem facing mankind today is a result of failed liberal ideas and yet we
continue on expecting a different result. Isn’t it wonderful?

i am so sick of these idiots..if any of us spent on credit cards like this we would be screwed for life..and we are. But they have someone else’s credit card.

  • dear paul,

what if the majority of the people are opposed to more spending? oh i forgot your a marxist, what the people want doesn’t matter only what the party leaders want.

Fools shouldn’t open their mouths and tell the world they are fools if they had any self-respect, which obviously, this dude does not. The American people are the ones being held hostage by the democrats – if the American people don’t give more and more of their tax dollars and accept huge debts to be paid in the future, the democrats will throw a hissy fit because they aren’t allowed to spend, spend, spend. Even children have more sense than the democrats, but then we all know their objective is to destroy the U.S.’s economy forever and bring on a world government they believe will have some nice cushy spot for them in. Can democrats really be that stupid, when their communist heroes have laid out the steps for them to take over a nation with them following the steps to a tee? This guy is just another useful idiot.

“Ever think being under constant attack is a sign that you might be wrong?”

No. I think it’s a sign that regressive commiecrats and republicratslite are wrong. Always. Every time, on every issue.

I believe the Obama Administration and Progressives such as Krugman know they can’t keep blaming Bush for the “bad economy that Obama inherited” so they are switching to blaming Congress. They don’t want to accept responsibility for the Community Reinvestment Act and the fact that the CRA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac caused the 2008 financial meltdown.
Obama doesn’t want to accept responsibility for the half of the TARP expenditures that HE SPENT — not Bush; the half of the FY 2009 budget that he signed — not Bush; the $856 billion stimulus that he insisted would keep unemployment from going below 8%; the fact that he has spent more than all of our previous presidents and added over $6 trillion to our national debt.

We need to make sure that we tell all of the low-information voters know that, in spite of what the Democrats say, WHEN THE INTEREST RATES ON OUR COUNTRY’S DEBT RISE, IT WILL BE JUST AS DIFFICULT FINANCIALLY FOR OUR COUNTRY AS IT IS FOR THEM WHEN THEIR CREDIT CARD DEBT HAS HIGH INTEREST RATES.

  • Paul, go pat your pussy (cat).

Everyone wants the Barack Hussein Obama should know how tight the budget he can spend, debit and credit done by a professional accountant. If not, he should be kick out of office and sent back to Kenya.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that doctors under Obamacare are now required to ask their patients if they own guns?

A more pertinent question might be: Do you think it is a coincidence that an avid reader of this blog would believe that doctors are required, under Obamacare, to ask their patients if they own guns?
