NRA Ranks Swell After Newtown Massacre

Over 100,000 Americans have joined the NRA since the Sandy Hook massacre in December.
The Politico reported:

The National Rifle Association has gained more than 100,000 new members in the last 18 days, the organization told POLITICO’s Playbook on Thursday.

The number of paid new members jumped from 4.1 million to 4.2 million in that time frame.

“Our goal is to get to 5 million before this debate is over,” the NRA told POLITICO’s Mike Allen.

Those comments come as Vice President Joe Biden gears up to meet with NRA representatives on Thursday to discuss gun policy after the Dec. 14 mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. triggered a national conversation on the subject.

“We are willing to talk to policymakers about any reasonable proposals and plans,” an NRA official said in the Playbook report, regarding the upcoming meeting with Biden. “However, the NRA is hearing not just from Beltway elites and the chattering class, but real Americans all over the country that are hoping the NRA is not going to compromise on any of the principles of the Second Amendment, nor are we going to support banning guns. But we’re willing to listen.”

NRA representatives are meeting with Joe Biden at the White House today in talks on how to curb gun violence.

What’s the point of any meeting. Leftists, despite overwhelming evidence that More Guns Means Less Crime, simply will never concede that fact of life. Their aim – to empower government and its agents even more and to disarm Americans – will never be satisfied until we are utterly defenseless.

Kansas man unintentionally shoots and injures 4-year-old.

“39-year-old Brian Bruno, of Ottawa, Kansas was showing a friend how to handle a handgun. Thinking the gun was unloaded he pulled the trigger. The gun discharged and the bullet hit a 4-year-old boy who was sitting on the floor nearby. The boy was wounded in the upper left leg. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for a non life-threatening injury.

Bruno was arrested and charged with aggravated endangerment of a child and criminal discharge of a firearm.

“I wouldn’t characterize it as an accident, ” said the police chief. “Because you have to pull the trigger on a weapon in order to fire it. He intentionally pulled the trigger, thinking it was unloaded.”

If the Administration tries to accomplish this via Executive Order, it is time to insist that Congress begin Impeachment proceedings.

Thanks a bunch Leslie. Once again, your comment serves to reveal your true agenda … the elimination of ALL firearms.

People, when gun grabbers try to tell you they only want “common sense” firearms restrictions, don’t believe it … what they want to do is DISARM you. PERIOD.

  • estefvan

Leslie, you can’t fix stupid and this person was an idiot. First thing you do when handling a weapon is make sure it is on safe (if it has one). The second thing is make sure it is not loaded. We have idiots on both sides of the isle its just the Democrats out number us in that regard.

    Good for the NRA–

Again, our forefathers did not author the second amendment so we could shoot a turkey for dinner. Their intent was that a citzen army might be needed someday to protect itself from
    a corrupt government.

Gun control of any type of gun, semi or not, is taking away our rights and freedom.

I encourage everyone to join the NRA in solidarity whether or not you own a gun. It is only
$25.00. Money well spent to protect our liberty.

Obama is following in the tradition of dictators everywhere. Disarm the citizens so they cannot
    fight back against tyranny.

My opinion is that we fought against tyranny once and we can do it again. None of my friends
and business associates will give up their AR15’s, regardless of Obama says. The common
    response is “ain’t gonna happen”.

You young ones do not remember this, however, at one time ownership of gold was outlawed
in this country. Everyone just hoarded it secretly. That’s what will happen again. And the
    blackmarket will flourish.

Never happen Joy. House Republicans don’t have the balls to pass Articles of Impeachment and there is no way in hell Senate Democraps will vote to convict The One even if they did.

    NO COMPROMISE PERIOD.

Once you go down that road, they want more and more. Like Children with candy.

And speaking of kids, WASHINGTON IS A PLAY PEN.

  • Patty

Play “pen”, Obama is playing with that pen again. Just use executive power, nope, not this time.

  • Remco Kimber

Executive orders are out-and-out unconstitutional. How do I know? Because I have read Article 1, Section 1, “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States.”

All means all and that’s all that all means. If Congress has all law-making authority, then necessarily the federal executive and the federal courts have none.

Yup. And Prohibition worked out real well too, didn’t it.

I don’t own an AR or AK, but I do own a 1911A1, an old shipmate very similar to the one I carried as my duty sidearm for over 20 years. The biggest difference between this one and the issue sidearm is – I trust mine to shoot straight.

I am the NRA! Back in the 90’s, after Clinton and his criminal regime gassed and burned 80+ innocent women and children in Waco as the result and coverup of his failed media circus against firearms, I joined every progun group I could find.

    GOA: gun owners of america
    NRA: national rifle association
CCRKBA: citizens comittee for the right to keep and bear arms
AFA: american firepower association (now defunct)
    SAF:second ammendment Foundation
    a few more I can’t remember

Because of financial concerns I have narrowed it down to the NRA because they have the most clout. If you own guns for any reason and aren’t a member’ I suggest you join if you want to keep them and your childrens freedoms from being stolen by this fascist government.

Patty, I do not trust the Roberts Supreme Court to do the right thing. Just look back at the recent ObamaCare decision as an example. Or Eminent Domain.

The “powers” in Washington don’t get it. Secure our schools with Retired or Police officers but this cost to much money? Life of any child is well worth it.

30 Stupid Things The Government Is Spending Money On

#1 The U.S. government is spending $750,000 on a new soccer field for detainees held at Guantanamo Bay.

#2 The Obama administration plans to spend between 16 and 20 million dollars helping students from Indonesia get master’s degrees.

#3 If you can believe it, the U.S. government has spent $175,587 “to determine if cocaine makes Japanese quail engage in sexually risky behavior”.

#4 The U.S. government spent $200,000 on “a tattoo removal program” in Mission Hills, California.

#5 The federal government has shelled out $3 million to researchers at the University of California at Irvine to fund their research on video games such as World of Warcraft. Wouldn’t we all love to have a “research job” like that?

#6 The Department of Health and Human Services plans to spend $500 million on a program that will, among other things, seek to solve the problem of 5-year-old children that “can’t sit still” in a kindergarten classroom.

#7 Fannie Mae is about to ask the federal government for another $4.6 billion bailout, and it will almost certainly get it.

#8 The federal government once spent 30 million dollars on a program that was designed to help Pakistani farmers produce more mangos.

Again with the a non story trying to equate the action of one incident to justify punishing all gun owners.
By your oversimplification all Americans should be denied the right to own a car because of the following incident.

Sophia Dante Woodard, 34, was killed Thursday when the South Carolina Highway Patrol says a truck collided with the bus she was driving.

Authorities say the driver of the truck, Tommy Fowlar, 35, of Gaffney ran a stop sign at the intersection of state Highways 215 and 34/Salem Crossroads.
The wreck sent more than 40 kindergartners through sixth graders from McCorey-Liston Elementary School to area hospital.

Liberals get something in their head and do just about anything from reporting addresses to destroying credibility and character of good men and women. This is from a playbook and it is all part of a Socialization of America. They will break laws to do it even if that Law is The Constitution of the UNITED STATES.

And THIS IS THE TIME, we have been Biotched Slapped by the left for way too long. And if there ever was a time to STAND TOGETHER FOR OUR FREEDOMS THIS IS THE TIME and we won’t be swayed or detoured again. Maybes, mights, should haves aren’t going to fly this time it is time to act. Time to set these liberals straight. We are tired and we won’t take it anymore.

  • NRA membership is not soaring because of the newtown shooting, it is soaring because leftist politicans are trying to use the shooting to take away the american citizens ability to defend themselves againist the left’s tyranny.

If Obama tries to restrict guns by executive order, in violation of the second amendment:
The Department of Justice will do nothing to stop him but rather will facilitate his orders.
Likewise the Department of Homeland Security:
Our feckless Congress will stand by and do nothing.
    Our military likewise:
Our only course of action then is resistance. Peaceful resistance if possible, Militant resistance if necessary.
This administration (regime) has declared war on its citizens.

“Punch back twice as hard. Reward our friends, punish our enemies.”

Another question; how have the other gun rights groups been doing? Gun Owners of America? 2nd Amendment Foundation? etc. I just joined both of these too.

  • Look-Out

PERSUASIVE reason made last night: Don’t even buy into the “mental health” restrictions. It sounds reasonable, but…as someone pointed out,

WHO will decide what mental health conditions restrict gun ownership?”

This could work quite nicely for an administration that doesn’t want our vets armed especially. You know, those guys who are well-trained to take care of an enemy.

Many have been treated for PTSB (and been given medications) that might offer an excuse to take their firearms. Or any other sane citizen having sought counseling, etc. for one minor reason or another.

  • Wow, that’s really something! Let me do some quick math here… Yup, they’ve added a whopping 0.1% of all gun owners to their membership rolls. Of course, that means that 95% of gun owners DON’T belong to the NRA, but let’s not let facts get in the way of the NRA’s little self-congratulatory press release. Mustn’t let anyone know that almost no one actually belongs to them.

Wisco, speak for yourself. I’m going to their website and renewing my long-expired membership just after I write this …

  • Highlander

Done. Boy, that was easy, and I got a $25 discount off a five year membership, and a $25 Bass Pro Shops gift card too. The gift card should come in handy … I need some ammo …

They’ll have another two million members before Obama can say “hand ’em in” …

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to unveil more Gun Control Ordinances in city with toughest Gun Laws in the nation didn’t realize what Anti Gun Groups said after White House meeting with Biden, “Our proposed new Gun Laws would not have prevented Newtown tragedy. “While, House Democrats blame Rush Limbaugh for opposition to Gun Control.”
Biden says Obama may seek to ban private Gun sales. Moreover, Biden says he will present Obama with Anti Gun recommendations by Tuesday. Biden is stupid enough compares Gun Control to car airbags: “We’re Saving Lives”

  • mark1973

To be honest with you, while i believe the New NRA members had their Heart in the right place by joining, They should have waited and held the NRA’S “Feet to the fire” on standing up to Washington on Firearms legislation before joining.

The NRA has caved in the thirties and in 1968 with the GCA and in the nineties with the Assault weapons Ban. They have supported radical lefty dems like Joe Manchin and Harry Reid among others.

Let’s see if the NRA folds or stands up to Obama/Biden in the end before we get on their bandwagon. This might be a “Good Cop/ Bad Cop” routine by the NRA prior to them folding…I hope not!

After this news, I did a Saul Alinsky tactic on Obama & Feinstein by doing a Petition on WhiteHouse.gov which ridicules and mocks them applauding them for the NRA membership drive. Please help it go public by signing. Just started today. Here it is with description and link at bottom:

WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:

Reward Pres. Obama & Senator Feinstein for helping the NRA gain more than 100,000 new paid members in the last 18 days.

“The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government”

Please join the NRA so the NRA can continue to produce educational materials to educate Sen. Feinstein & others in Congress & the Oval Office, that the 2nd Amendment’s purpose is not about sport or hunting, but the inalienable right of the people to protect themselves from government tyranny.

Politico reports the National Rifle Association has gained more than 100,000 new members in the last 18 days with the number of paid new members jumping from 4.1 million to 4.2 million in that time.

NRA reports their goal is to get to 5 million before the debate is over.

“We The People” would like to thank Obama & Feinstein for helping make it happen
