Not Satisfied With Latest Tax Hike… Democrats Want To Introduce Another Trillion Dollar Tax on Americans

Back in 2008 Barack Obama said it was hurtful to raise taxes during a recession.
He also spoke out about the negative affects of running a high deficit.

But that was four years ago.
Democrats just raised taxes on 77% of American households with the fiscal cliff bill.
Now they want another trillion dollar tax hike.
The Hill reported:

Democrats say they want to raise as much as $1 trillion in new revenues through tax reform later this year to balance Republican demands to slash mandatory spending.

Democratic leaders have had little time to craft a new position for their party since passing a tax deal Tuesday that will raise $620 billion in revenue over the next 10 years.

The emerging consensus, however, is that the next installment of deficit reduction should reach $2 trillion and about half of it should come from higher taxes.

This sets up tax reform as one of the biggest fights of the 113th Congress, which began on Thursday.

Well maybe he could begin by removing the Hollywood and NASCAR giveaways he just approved.

    An evil man does evil.

Whatever. What spending cuts are they willing to give in exchange? I’d go for a few tax reforms in exchange for a balanced budget and a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.

Republicans’ starting offer should be a balanced budget amendment with no tax rate increases or the debt limit stays where it is, regardless of the consequences. We might as well go bankrupt today with $16 Trillion in debt vs. a few years from now with $20 Trillion. Why postpone it if it’s inevitable?

  • MT Geoff

Readers here mostly know that raising tax rates will almost certainly reduce revenues. Even if the specific revenue stream increases — like the Social Security payroll tax — the overall effect is a brake on the economy and so a brake on overall revenue. The SS tax may not actually raise more money either for a lot of reasons.
Class warfare is ugly. It’s ugly if the wealthy wage warfare on the poor, which wealthy liberals do by making it so much harder to leave poverty behind. It’s ugly if the poor or their surrogates wage war on the wealthy — which wealthy liberals do, by telling the poor that their problems are caused by “the rich”. Michael Moore is one of the ugliest of these but he has a lot of friends.
And just for giggles, it’s obvious that raising revenues by $2T over 10 years is absurd anyway — first, because it’s too small to help our deficit problem and second, because it won’t happen anyway.
    T
Our fiscal issues require two courses of action: reduce spending and release the power of a free economy. Neither will happen under liberal leadership.

Obviously Obama needs to nationalize more industry.

  • db

Beware of “tax reform” that introduce hidden taxes (carbon tax, VAT tax, mileage tax, “excise” taxes) — especially if they are coupled with “tax reductions” for the middle class!

  • L.E. Liesner

Wasn’t taxing the rich going to solve all these problems? Of course those of us that live in the real world knows that whether they get more money of not, the spending will continue to go on. The real goal of these liberal/progressives is to have only two classes in this country, the rich and the poor. It is much easier to control the poor then the middle class, with social programs.

In other words, the a-holes known as Democrats want to preserve the status quo.

Boner can pass a Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment…. and dare Barry to veto it.

And then see how fast enough states pass it!

Balance the budget? Oh, hardy har har.

  • Finncrisp

Until you have a budget, there is no spending problem. Barry and Harry are determined to never have a budget during their reign. Problem solved! A CR merely continues the “no problemo” rate of expenditure.

You missed a step. It would have to pass in the Senate before Obama would get his shot at it.

It never seems to occur to these asshats in Washington that cutting spending by a trillion dollars accomplishes far more than raising taxes by the same amount.

Actually, that trillion dollars in taxes is taken by force out of the economy. Spending is reduced, businesses large and small are forced to cut jobs, and we end up with even more people getting food stamps, unemployment and other forms of government generosity. All of which have to be paid for with borrowed money.

    Are these people THAT stupid?

It is funny – there are no more pressers about jobs lost and jobs saved. Remember that drivel? Here we are with no mention of what is really happening, just nonsense about how there is no spending problem higher taxes can’t solve. MSM uncurious as to how that works, exactly.

  • Whiskeytangofoxtrot

How about a dose of supply side economics? We, the People, remove the supply until these monsters get their house in order or are replaced? Jes’ sayin’…

  • This is just the beginning. The Dems are just getting started. It is becoming painfully obvious they have no intention of cutting any spending at all, except for the military, which of course will make us weak and vulnerable to terrorist attacks. They don’t even bother trying to cover their lies anymore. Even the state run mainstream media doesn’t bother attempting to appear honest anymore. As we all keep hearing over and over, Obama won the election. To them that means he was elected the supreme ruler. They firmly believe he is entitled to get everything he demands. Republicans and all other dissenters must be destroyed. The only pleasure I will get out of all this destruction is knowing that Obama supporters will suffer too.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

It never seems to occur to these asshats in Washington that cutting spending by a trillion dollars accomplishes far more than raising taxes by the same amount.

It helps to remember one thing: Democrats generally are not looking to shrink the size of the government.

Smaller government means less influence and power, and that is anathema to Democrats. While they can’t be forgiven for wanting ever-larger government, why they want it is certainly pretty clear…

Here we have a shining example of why you don’t dare give these creeps ONE INCH of flexibility on the issue of gun control. The second you give an inch, or show the slightest sign of weakness, these scumbags will just push even harder and try to knock you down.

    thank you..

Murder By Communism (by any other
name, the results are the same) *-(

    more..

[But communists could not be wrong. After all, their knowledge was scientific, based on historical materialism, an understanding of the dialectical process in nature and human society, and a materialist (and thus realistic) view of nature. Marx has shown empirically where society has been and why, and he and his interpreters proved that it was destined for a communist end. No one could prevent this, but only stand in the way and delay it at the cost of more human misery. Those who disagreed with this world view and even with some of the proper interpretations of Marx and Lenin were, without a scintilla of doubt, wrong. After all, did not Marx or Lenin or Stalin or Mao say that. . . . In other words, communism was like a fanatical religion. It had its revealed text and chief interpreters. It had its priests and their ritualistic prose with all the answers. It had a heaven, and the proper behavior to reach it. It had its appeal to faith. And it had its crusade against nonbelievers.

What made this secular religion so utterly lethal was its seizure of all
the state’s instrument of force and coercion and their immediate use
to destroy or control all independent sources of power, such as the
church, the professions, private businesses, schools, and, of course,
    the family.]

“There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in
the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes
to enslave men by force, socialism – by vote. It is merely the difference

It’s an ongoing problem among all politicians, yes worse among “progressives”. That’s why I’m a libertarian conservative; I’d love to see Robert Heinlein’s legislative chamber that was devoted to repealing laws.
You can think that alcohol use is a bad idea and still support people making their own decisions. You can consider adultery or even homosexuality to be evil and still believe that they are individual business, not crimes. You can consider drug abuse awful and still leave people alone to make their own decisions — until their actions damage others.
Republicans are somewhat better than Dems on these topics. “Progressives” are only satisfied when they get to run everything. And since “progressives” disagree on some topics, that means they’re never satisfied.

  • Ben

The President doesn’t get to veto a Constitutional Amendment. He doesn’t have any role in the process at all.

  • MWTexas

“Democrats say they want to raise as much as $1 trillion in new revenues through tax reform later this year to balance Republican demands to slash mandatory spending.”

Yeah that makes perfect sense – to a Democrat. We need higher taxes to “pay” for the spending “cuts.” ??????

So what! Who is going to stop them? Nobody! They do what they want and as much as we all talk, nothing that needs to be done is done. The talk that needs to be spoken is never talked about. The Paul Revere’s like Jim Hoft, Rush, Sean, Mark and Glenn talk about who is doing what, but never talk about how this is going to truly be solved. It’s not by voting, not when the 1st amendment, 2nd amendment, 4th amendment and 5th amendments are trampled on.

1st Amendment – Forcing Christians to go against their religious beliefs, but the muslims get a pass on the socialist health care monstrosity. The media controlling the language by claiming certain words are code words for racism, so that’s now a big no no!

2nd Amendment – all the regs and restrictions with governors now opening talking about confiscating guns. You lose guns, what is to stop the government from doing anything they want? A vote? HA! The ultimate goal of the world, especially the enemies of America is to take the guns away from the citizens. All 100 million private gun owners.

4th Amendment – TSA TSA TSA! Expanding now to other areas of transport including highways, train stations, bus stations.

5th Amendment – The EPA seized authority over your private property rights and that seems to be ok with everyone. Someone articulate disgust, but nobody does anything about it.

Freedom minus the free is just doom. But we march willing into this darkness. Our words are truth and harsh, but our feet still move in the direction they push us, just one step at a time just like the cost of gas gradually going up in smaller increments like 0bama and Steven Chu wanted. We talk and vote in protest, but so did the Russians while the Bolsheviks took over. So did the Germans while the Nazis took over. So did the Iranians and Brits while the Islamist took over.

Don’t worry though, you will get use to it. The new generation is bathing in the indoctrination of it, so no worries for them surrendering their future to a past they have never know. It’s cool and we have a clean, articulate, black president, so that makes it OK! March on!

It takes a 2/3rds vote by members of both houses of Congress, plus 3/4ths of the states to amend the Constitution. The President doesn’t get a veto. http://www.ehow.com/how_8611536_ratify-amendment-constitution.html

“Wasn’t this bill a negotiation between McConnell and Biden? And didn’t 38 Republican Senators vote for it?”

No shadow, as has been the case for the last four years, this bill was a negotiation between the people of America, and a tyrannical group of progressive thugs, with the full support of the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party. And calling it a negotiation is stretching it.
