Loony Chuck Hagel: Terrorists Attack Because They “Lack Hope” Just Like the “Chained Palestinians” (Video)

Hopeless terrorists flash their guns.

No wonder Obama likes this clown.
Loony former Senator Chuck Hagel told a Senate Committee in 2011 that terrorists attack because they “lack hope.” Then he went on to say the Palestinian people “have been chained down for many, many years.”

World Net Daily reported:

Terrorism is not a belief but instead is a response to despair and a lack of hope, argued Chuck Hagel in unreported remarks during a 2007 Senate hearing.

“But when people have no hope, when there’s despair, little else matters,” said Hagel.

He continued: “And this is not about terrorists don’t like freedom. Tell that to the Palestinian people who have been chained down for many, many years. Terrorism is not a strategy, it’s a tactic. Terrorism is not a plan. It’s not a belief like democracy or monarchy. It’s a tactic.”

Hagel was speaking at a Jan. 24, 2007, Senate Committee on Foreign Relations hearing on Iraq.

But, don’t worry. Hagel says he supports Israel today.

    This should be fun.

All of that sounded very reasonable to me.

Hagle also said Iran could be our ally.

    This man is scary.

Sen. Hagel has a 0% rating from NARAL. Why is this suddenly not an issue for MSM or women? His rating with National Right to Life was 100% in the Senate.

He should be DOA from the party that had a floor fight over if God was to be part of their platform.

Something else is going on here…

The so-called Palestinians have more rights living in Israel than they would living in any of the neighboring nations.

  • OldSailor

No Chuck. Terrorism is a form of asymetric warfare conducted by someone who lacks the courage or firepower for a standup fight, not because they are “in despair.”

“former Senator Chuck Hagel [speaking about the Palestinians] told a Senate Committee in 2011 that terrorists attack because they “lack hope.”

Hope for what? The Palestinians and their fellow-travelers tell us over and over. They hope to annihilate Israel. Or as they usually put it, “push Israel into the sea.”

No lack of hope, there. The Palestinians seem to have plenty of hope.

Based on the continuing appeasement policy of the West, they think they’re winning.

Hagel, what you say might sound fine in a classroom, or a government hearing.

Try it on people who have guns and want to kill you so bad that they are willing to kill themselves in the attempt.

That’s not “lack of hope”, bro.

But if you think it is, that’s lack of intelligence.

Jihadists who perpetrated the September 11th attacks came from oil rich Arab countries and all of them came from affluent families.

    Most were western educated.

They were brainwashed by Islamists, all of whom fment hate of Israel and the United States.

It’s not a lack of hope that drives them. It’s an abundance of false hope to die a martyr in the destruction of Israel or the United States.

Related: It’s about more than guns!

“The fuse that will ignite one of the most turbulent times in American and global history has been lit and now burns with incredible speed. Its ignition is neither an accident nor does it originate from good intent, but a deliberate act by a “deluded elite” advancing an agenda that is so breathtakingly evil that it defies all rationality.”

Anyone who looks or has looked into the 700 or so years that Islam has been around knows more than what Hagel wants us to believe. I think he is just trying to make his anti-Jewish bias more palatable to the public. He is just another Jew hater.

    They lacked hope?!?!?!?

It was Jihad!!! you stupid dingbat!

What dingbat would EVER consider you worthy of running a lemonade stand, much MUCH less than the Dept of Defense?!? Oh yeah, that would be Obama, who is perhaps even more inept than Chuck Hagel, if that is possible.

I guess Chuck is totally baffled as to WHY those FREE people in Libya decided to attack and KILL the US Ambasador.

Clearly, someone without a clue is not qualified to be dog catcher.

Al JaZeera is getting its money’s worth giving Sheik Ali Gore 500mil for a worthless station with no viewers. …Now when Oil Gore lobbies the Clintons to pick this or that person Hamas wants for a leadership position …they know he has significant funding to lure their compliance.

Former Hagel Staffer, Spencer Warren, Describing Hagel Years Ago

“At one time I worked in Senator Chuck Hagel’s office. I believe readers may be interested in my observations of Senator Hagel.

He has a limited educational background, and worked as a local broadcaster in Nebraska before getting his start as an aide to a Nebraska congressman in the 1970s. Before that, he fought in Vietnam, where he was seriously wounded. With his Capitol Hill background and war record, he obtained a high position in the Reagan administration’s Department of Veterans Affairs. Then he had some friends who were investing in the new cellular phone field; he sold his car to raise the funds to invest with them. That’s how he became a millionaire. And in a small state like Nebraska, that’s how a person possessed of the requisite ego, regardless of other qualifications, including intelligence, becomes a United States Senator.

He is not an active legislator. (In fact, I did not see him take much part in the floor debate last year on the traitorous immigration bill he co-sponsored with Sen. Martinez.) Once I saw him at a committee mark-up of a bill complain about the amendments process as “minutiae.” Of course, that is the blood and guts of legislating, requiring a good deal of attention to detail and effort, as the impressive Senator Jeff Sessions resolutely demonstrated during the immigration debate. It is much easier to promote oneself by appearing frequently on television, acting “senatorial” and speaking in generalities, which is how Hagel has made his name. His staff calls his tv appearances “face time.” Alas, it seems the “face time” figures like Hagel, John Kerry and John Edwards get more attention as presidential prospects than the serious legislators like Sessions.”

“…One prominent conservative I knew said Senator Hagel was known as the “butterfly.” That is, he makes loud pronouncements on issues, such as Iraq, gaining attention as an independent, but without actually coming to grips with the issues or accomplishing anything. He just flutters around issues. His anticlimactic announcement yesterday that he is not running for president is the latest example of his butterfly approach to serious political matters.

Another demonstration of his judgment on great moral issues was Hagel’s support of the forced repatriation of little Elian Gonzalez back to Castro’s communist Cuba. (Recall the police-state armed assault by Clinton’s federal thugs on the home of Elian’s relatives, in defiance of a court order, when Elian had an automatic weapon pointed almost in his crying face before being seized.)

I observed Senator Hagel to be something of a poseur, a man who, like many politicians, is skilled mainly at affecting a serious and commanding demeanor without actually achieving anything of substance as a legislator. It may not be appropriate to get into personalities in this way. But in view of the catastrophic mis-government that is leading our nation to ruin, I believe I should offer my observations for the consideration of VFR readers.

Hagel is guilty of a disease that inflicts all liberals and many conservatives: delusional faith in one’s own intelligence. First a person tries real hard to think up a reason for a particular problem, say terrorism. Then one comes up with an explanation that one thinks will be somewhat original and ‘deep’, but which will reflect very well upon the thinker. This then is passed off as intellectualism and intelligence. Of course it is nothing more than group-think.
Far be it for such ‘smart’ people to simply believe in what the evidence reveals. No. They must voice a cause. We see this all the time. Piers Morgan, a noted dimwit sees himself brilliant. Global Warmists miss the fact they are nothing but conformists. In conservative ranks we see ridiculous assertions regarding abortion, etc.

The only shackles binding ‘terrorists or chained Palestinians’ is Islam. Islam requires adherents to subsist on the wealth stolen from non-believers held under dhimmitude. Modern era dhimmis continue the tradtion of paying the jizya masked as foreign aid, inflated trade for oil which is secured through Western taxpayer dollars. Islam without the jizya and dhimmi society will whither and die in short order.

GOP governor: Obama ‘minister of God’

    Muslim Brotherhood ‘infiltrated’ U.S. gov’t

offf with the old, on with the new, oh wait..

At the time when Our Lord Jesus Christ walked among
us there were basically four categories of people:

    (1) The Roman Imperial rulers;
    (2) The established Church of that time with the Elders, Priests,
Pharisees, Scribes, etc. steeped in high profiled, restrictive and
elaborate rituals which by then had become devoid of any real
    connection with God;
    (3) The sinners — prostitutes, tax collectors, etc.; and
    (4) The masses, whose loyalty, like today, could be easily swayed
because they did not have a firm anchor: the knowledge of God.

He’s isn’t qualified to be dog catcher but then again neither is Barry so they make quite a scary duo.
Throw in Brennan and Kerry and we have a total disaster. Then again that describes Barry all by himself.
