It Begins… Democratic Lawmaker Calls for Confiscation of Guns

Here we go…
An Iowa Democrat called for the government to start confiscating guns.

The Daily Caller reported:

In an interview with the Daily Times Herald in Caroll, Iowa, state Rep. Dan Muhlbauer said governments should start confiscating semi-automatic rifles and other firearms.

Muhlbauer, a Democrat from the western Iowa town of Manilla, is a cattleman and farmer. The newspaper reported that he owns a .410 shotgun, a .22 rifle and a .22 pistol.

“We cannot have big guns out here as far as the big guns that are out here, the semi-automatics and all of them,” Muhlbauer told the newspaper during a December 19 audiotaped interview. “We can’t have those running around out here. Those are not hunting weapons.”

What are the chances that this effete man has ever handled one of the guns he supposedly owns?

“We can’t have those running around out here. Those are not hunting weapons.”

If I remember correctly, the 2nd Amendment does not limit us to “the right to bear hunting weapons”. It gives us the right to bear arms.

  • Bkdelux

LOL, he owns .22’s and a .410 and calls himself a gun owner? I’d invite him to come get my .45’s and .308 M1A if he’s up for the challenge…

  • Adirondack Patriot

    Come and get ’em.

  • RedBeard

Sam, I doubt he even owns those guns. Sounds like a convenient story to sell his bogus agenda about “big guns,” whatever those might be in his fevered brain.

  • drunken sailor

Come and try to get them. You will lose.

  • cavt

Would like to see the dems and govt try to do this and let’s see what happens.

  • Bigkahuna

#4 agreed. Show me wher it says bear hunting weapon, knives, pistols, rifles or slingshots. It says not infringe on right to bare arms

  • Highlander

I don’t know about anyone else here, but I’ve never seen a firearm “running around” anywhere. Just one more attempt to advance the meme that firearms are somehow capable of jumping up and killing people all by themselves …

  • Kissmygrits

‘Big guns’ being capable of running around out here makes me question the Iowa voters who put this guy in DC. You folks understand what he is talking about? Maybe you could recall your rep who just denounced his oath of office.

  • Sam Stone

This man has severely violated his FREEDOM OF SPEECH and it must be taken from him.

Technically all lawmakers are democratic. Putting a capital letter in front of the word doesn’t make it a valid use of the word.

He’s a Democrat lawmaker. It’s the Democrat party.

  • even steven

Any elected official who swore an oath to uphold and maintain the US Constitution then calls for confiscating citizens’ guns has proven himself a liar whose oath means nothing.

  • paul52

Someone explain to Dumass Daniel that the 2nd Amendment is NOT about hunting; it’s about the threats of a tyrannical government.

  • thank you #14, I try and try and try to get people to use the right word but with a “news” media misusing it all the time, it’s pretty impossible.

Now about guns. Not only is the idiot recommending violation of the 2nd Amendment but he’s also asking for violation of the 5th Amendment that bans the taking of private property. Well I guess the courts covered that for him when they ruled that governments could take privately owned RE for the common good.

  • Bob

They just tried this in Illinois and the response was so overwhelming they didn’t even vote on it. Now is the time to be heard. Once joe Biden issues his report we need to start melting down phone lines. It is time to stand up to tyranny

You can sure tell whom the brainwashed sheep are. They all say the same nonsense about the 2nd amendment and hunting. Its almost like Democrats all went to the same school. That they can all read the same 27 words as you and me and come to such wildly crazy conclusion should speak volumes for what is about to happen with the 2600 page Obamacare. Any Govt apparatchik can now twist those words into ANYTHING they choose and WE the PEOPLE have NO recourse except a Lawful revolution as prescribed in the Declaration of Independence.

There’s a good gun stats power point going around the internet.
    The name is firearmsbestpowerpoint1.pps.

I can’t find a clean download on the internet, but I’ve seen it in email.
    Some good quotes, like:

Those who hammer their shotguns into plows will be ruled by those who don’t.
(Not a precise quote, i think it’s John Adams)

  • Gary

What’s funny is that they can read something as simple as the commerce clause and extrapolate it to mean virtually anything they want to do money-wise, but when they read the 2nd amendment, they can’t even get the meaning of the word “security”.

Commerce can mean health insurance, welfare, social security, etc. but “security” means hunting and sports.

    Go figure.

  • Sharon

So he’s a farmer and a cattle man and only owns 3 guns. Two .22s & a shotgun…I’m calling BS. I would bet he has several other high caliber pistols and rifles to take of animals that may attack his cattle on his farm.

  • mark1973

Once Again, Our God Given Second Ammendment Right Has NOTHING to do with Hunting…NOTHING! It is meant to be the Last Defense against a tyrannical government and to keep the government in Fear of the people, who are the Sovereign,in case the government even thinks about getting out of line.

  • bacadog #4

True. The Second Amendment doesn’t specify what arms are. That’s left up to we the people. In point of fact, however, the federal government has already banned ‘assault weapons’.

A fully automatic weapon (a machine gun) is one that fires a succession of bullets so long as the trigger is depressed or until the ammunition supply is exhausted. In addition, any weapon that shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot automatically, more than one shot at a time by a single trigger pull, is legally considered to be a machine gun.

Submachine guns are fully automatic weapons that fire a handgun cartridge and can be operated by one person. Sometimes they are referred to as machine pistols.

A machine gun can normally fire between 400 and 1,000 rounds (bullets) per minute, or between 7 and 17 rounds per second.

    Federal Firearms Regulations

It has been unlawful since 1934 (The National Firearms Act) for civilians to own machine guns without special permission from the U.S. Treasury Department. Machine guns are subject to a $200 tax every time their ownership changes from one federally registered owner to another, and each new weapon is subject to a manufacturing tax when it is made, and it must be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in its National Firearms Registry.’

    Full Auto Weapons

Semi-automatic weapons regardless of appearance and ammo capacity are not assault weapons and are suitable mainly for hunting and home defense. It would be absurd to issue semi-automatic arms to the military, the military requires full auto assault weapons to do their job. On the other hand full auto weapons are covered by the 2nd Amendment, and we the people have been denied those since the mid-30s. If the government manages to outlaw semi-automatic weapons it will not be satisfied but will then want to classify 22 caliber single shot rifles as ‘assault weapons’. We should demand that government restore our right to own full auto weapons.

  • Mikey

What liberals fail to understand, guns aren’t just for ‘hunting’.
They are also used for defensive purposes and protection.
    Protection we peasants need.
Protection from fascism & governmental tyranny.
Our founding fathers were shrewed fellows indeed.

Lawmaker needs to read our Constitution of the United States. And he has to take an oath to abide by this document. He will be voted out of office. Any office of leadership has he is not a leader of America.

If he doesn’t like our Constitution then PLEASE LEAVE.

Dem Congressman: Obama Has The Right To ‘Legitimate Violence’ Against Rebellious Citizens, But Not The Other Way Around

    – Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said only the federal government should have “high-capacity” gun magazines and that the “state ought to have a monopoly on legitimate violence.”

The lawmaker told that he not only supports prohibiting the future sale of 10-round gun magazines, but he would like to confiscate high-capacity clips already legally possessed by American citizens. then asked, “But if a bill was brought up and passed to ban high-capacity clips would the military still be allowed to use them?”

“Of course, the military would be allowed to use them,” Nadler said.

“So only the government would be allowed to have high-capacity clips?” asked.

“But let me say, yes,” Nadler added. “One of the definitions of a nation state is that the state has a monopoly on legitimate violence. And the state ought to have a monopoly on legitimate violence.”

“If the premise of your question is that people are going to resist a tyrannical government by shooting machine guns at American troops, that’s insane,” he said.

  • sablegsd

I am pretty damn sick and tired of these commie traitors. I hope he gets what he deserves.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

    “Those are not hunting weapons.”

    Totally irrelevant.

If he doesn’t understand what Second Amendment rights are, then he needs to be removed from office.

  • Biden announce this morning, about three hours ago, that Obama has EOs ready to deal with guns. Gun ban is happening now.

“The president is going to act,” said Biden, giving some comments to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence. “There are executives orders, there’s executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required.”

  • #16 Paul52 you are so right when you say “Someone explain to Dumass Daniel that the 2nd Amendment is NOT about hunting; it’s about the threats of a tyrannical government.” And we are now being threatened by Obama’s tyrannical government.

You’re 100% wrong. They do understand that guns aren’t just for hunting, the thing is they don’t care, because of their hatred for the Second Amendment.

  • TrickyDick

And I wonder what this clueless moron had to say about this. Nothing I’m guessing.

  • Winston Wolfe

He’s a Democrat lawmaker. It’s the Democrat party. – Flintstone

    No. It’s isn’t.

It’s a Democratic lawmaker and the Democratic Party.

Democrat is a noun. Democratic is an adjective.

Call them leftists and be done with it, but stop consistently getting this wrong.

    It’s Democratic.

  • Candy

I also noticed they’re plowing the web re: 2nd amendment equals the militia.

I guess the right to be secure re: person, home, property will be stricken from the fourth as well.

Even Robert Byrd wouldn’t have gone for this.

This is what happens when communists take over education, law schools and media.

If you want to know the constitution, don’t take constitutional law at liberal, elite law schools. They twist it or talk of changing it.

They’ve tried to separate keep from bear ( re: keep and bear/ bear meaning outside the home, keep meaning inside, to shut off sides of the amendment).

  • Winston Wolfe

thank you #14, I try and try and try to get people to use the right word but with a “news” media misusing it all the time, it’s pretty impossible.

    You’re wrong, too.

    It’s Democratic. Look it up.

  • Sarge

.410’s are what people in the midwest used to teach their 9-year-olds to shoot with. There are pistols that can chamber that tiny load.

Speaking of tiny loads, how does this supposed ‘cattleman’ deal with having to put down a severely injured cow or bull with on .22-cal weapons to hand? Let the animal suffer until the vet can show up?

Iowans, hang your head in shame for having elected such a ridiculous person to represent you.

  • RedBeard

Sarge, good point. Very good point. I raise cattle, and that very thing happened recently. But in my case I had a weapon of sufficient firepower to put the old cow down quickly and without suffering. A .22 and a .410 have their place, but this is not it.

  • Some call me…..Tim

I guess what really “chaps my hide” is that this clown admits to owning 2 – .22 caliber guns and 1 – .410 bore shotgun, all small caliber. He (as I read on another blog) claims to be a hunter, yet from what I understand, most states don’t allow any game above squirrels to be taken with rimfire (.22 caliber) ammo. So deer hunting is out.

Just another brain dead politician that cannot read or understand the true meaning of the Constitution and bill of rights….and he’s been elected by whom? Sure doesn’t make a presentable case for how smart the people that elected him are. Either that or he’s a damn good liar.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

It’s a Democratic lawmaker and the Democratic Party.

    In reality, they’re neither.

That’s why I refuse to use those terms.

  • Greg

The guy looks like the lovechild of Shrek and Alan Grayson. It’s not surprising he’d say stupid things.

  • Time

There is no sense trying to explain your stance anymore. Their not listening. They have NOT been listening for some time now. Their eyes and ears are sealed. They care not what you believe, what you want, what is just, what is law, what is truth, what is right, and what our constitution, declaration were written for. They have their own laws, and bi- laws, own agendas and it will not include anything, anyone here believes. It’s a fact, it is proven time and time again. So what all will everyone do, I have no clue, but I pray every day this invented crisis finds a peaceful ending. But once again, that too seems near impossible as you read blog, after blog of what is written, it’s down right scary. So much will be lost, so much broken and so much damage will be done if all that is predicted comes true. May the lord watch over each and every one and guide us all during these troubled times and be the bridge that joins us in common bond and not collapse from faulty structure….

  • BobC

What these socialist idiots choose to ignore, is that the 2nd amendment doesn’t talk about what guns the people “need.” That would be a restriction…an abridgement. “…shall not be abridged”
says very clearly no law or government edict shall harm our full, unfettered freedom to own any and all guns we choose. They don’t have the guts to say it out loud, but they want the 2nd amendment abolished, and all guns confiscated. It’s part and parcel of the Master Plan that Obama brought to DC with him. Disarm the country and take it over permanently.
I hope we have enough Republicans who will stand and fight for the 2nd Amendment. If we don’t, there will be a bloodbath across this country. Bank on it.

  • Highlander

BobC, I disagree. Many liberals have indeed come right out said they want to abolish the second amendment, many, many times. Of course, some are more open about their agenda than others, but even the ones who don’t come right out and say it are thinking it. When some whiny liberal comes here and posts a list of accidental shootings, and then voices their support for an “assault weapons” ban, what they’re really saying is obvious. They aren’t going to be happy with an “assault weapons” ban … they want ALL guns eliminated, PERIOD.

The people who don’t recognize that are probably the same people who don’t recognize the threat that the entire progressive socialist movement poses to this society. Some people just aren’t capable of thinking rationally and logically. They let their emotions override their principles, and react to fear and intimidation rather than looking at the big picture and making their decisions based on facts and common sense. Those people pose a serious threat to the future of this Republic, because they are so easily manipulated, and because unfortunately, they seem to be growing in numbers.

  • Lim Lynn
It’s not only happening in Iowa look at Colorado
We can expect 14 to 20 anti-gun bills. The current Democrat package includes:

A ban on an undetermined number of semi-automatic firearms (No grandfather clause)
A ban on magazines of over ten rounds (No grandfather clause).
Making an individual with a violent misdemeanor a “prohibited person” re: gun ownership.
A ban on private sales by requiring universal background checks.
A waiting period on background checks that will kill gun shows.
Rollback of concealed carry on college campuses.
More strict enforcement of gun confiscation related to restraining orders
Wider use of mental health treatment information for gun control purposes

The second amendment is not about hunting rifles, its about arming the public to defend themselves against tyrants as yourself, mr. Muhlbauer.

What the US citizens need now is to arm themselves with fully automatic large caliber rifles, RPG’s, armor piercing ammunition and other weapons needed to fend of heavily armed government thugs. Cause it is quite clear that you in conspiracy with this Obama terrorist are in progress of instigating a coup d’état.

Thats what the second amendment is all about.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

That includes the right to own your own tank, your own F-22 and so forth should you so please.
