Daughters of American Revolution Removes All References to God & Jesus Christ From Official Literature (Video)

The Daughters of the American Revolution, whose motto is “God, home and country”, removed all references to God and Christianity from all of its official books. Chaplains were told to stop using the name of Jesus.
The DAR even removed “America the Beautiful” from its official documents because it mentions God.

Todd Starnes reported this disturbing development on FOX and Friends this morning.

My daughter qualifies for membership due to a relative who fought in the Revolutionary War. The DAR offers scholarships to young girls going to college. She had planned to apply this year. I told her this morning not to bother. I’d rather reach into my pocket than take money from these hypocrites.

I know let’s not mention the Founding Fathers or their writings because they gave God his just due for the success of the Revolution. I think my country has gone crazy.

I thought a group like the Daughters of the American Revolution had more connection to our founding and history than that. Our family would certainly qualify to join the membership, but never will happen now. This is just one more thing bringing down American values. Can’t they see on what principles the country was founded? They were God believing and God fearing people. Too bad these idiots don’t fear God now.

The DAR even removed “America the Beautiful” from its official documents [What are DAR official documents? Who has access to DAR official documents?]because it mentions God.

My late mother was a member of the DAR and I was a member about 30 years ago but didn’t have the time to be involved. I just sent them a scathing email, along with a scan of my mother’s original documentation, saying that my niece had been interested in joining but not anymore. I also reminded them that I don’t think any Muslims, Hindus or atheists founded this country. This used to a be a historical society for those whose ancestors fought for the birth of a country, but looks like policitical correctness has turned them into another arm of the left’s political correctness.

Postroad: We have not had a revolution that has succeeded yet. “We are still the United States of America, one nation, under God…” in spite of your snarky comment, I am commenting without anguish or anger. So, tell us about your revolution! If you are speaking about the last two elections, you are far off the mark. An election or two does not a revolution make. Change is inevitable in any society from time to time so don’t get your hopes up too high regarding our current direction. Your so-called revolution has received little, if any, pushback so far. Should it ever come to that, you’ll know it when you see it. Fortunately, for real Americans, we have a thick skin and a tough Constitution. See you on the battlefield of ideas then.

  • Sara Johansen

THE DAR above all else should be ABOVE “political correctness!” Our ancestors…did a lot of bloodshedding to establish this country as ONE NATION UNDER GOD….and I am CERTAIN they are rolling in their graves over this decision. If this “ruling” is not rescinded I am withdrawing from the DAR…..it is now disgracing what our ancestors fought for and achieved….and mine, Merriweather Lewis of the Lewis & Clark Expedition made many sacrifices and took risks to open up the West…..sickens me to think that the DAR is removing God when our motto has been…GOD HOME COUNTRY!

Having 3 ancestors who were signers of the Declaration of Independence, I had considered applying for membership. Now I wouldn’t shame those ancestors by joining by joining that bunch of politically correct, ungrateful hypocrites. Interesting how the true agendas and allegiances of so many groups and organizations that we thought were pro America are now coming to light under this fraudulent Marxist in the White House. After hiding their true nature for generations- they are now slithering out from under the rocks.

  • dnb03

This is an issue for the Daughters of the American Revolution themselves to fight or let lie. Members must vote with their membership as to whether or not they wish to remain members. My daughter once won a speaking contest with them. She won a medal. I don’t think I would allow her to waste her time or talents on the group again if God is really now gone from their organization.

I’ll bet Fox got this story from Newsmax, one of the most notoriously wrong websites around. It’s a shame it got this far with so many comments without anyone checking it out.

Message Regarding NSDAR Ritual and Missal

NSDAR is disappointed to learn that false and incorrect information has recently been circulated regarding the 2011 edition of the DAR Ritual and Missal and the use of the name Jesus Christ in prayers and other ceremonial events of the National Society. The purpose of this message is to clarify NSDAR’s position on the matter for anyone who has not previously viewed the blogs written by President General Merry Ann T. Wright.

First, the question was posed by a national media group that if the motto of DAR is God, Home and Country, then “…why is DAR taking out references to God…” in its printed material. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, as currently written, the 113 page Ritual and Missal contains over 300 references to “Almighty God,” “Great God our King” (America hymn), “Our Heavenly Father,” “Heavenly Father,” “God of Hosts,” “God,” “Lord,” “Eternal God,” “Your Holy Spirit,” “Lord your God,” “Gracious Lord,” “Almighty and Everlasting God,” “Gracious Father,” and similar variations.

Second, the allegation has been leveled that Chaplains and others have been told not to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Again, this is an absolute falsehood. Each Chaplain and other officers are strongly encouraged to create their own prayers into which they may insert the name of Jesus Christ as deemed appropriate for the occasion and the audience.

Referencing #63 and #65: First, thank you both for posting those links.

Perhaps what this really is is an attempt to weaken the DAR organization through rumors and falsehoods. It might be an effort put allegations like this out there and get enough people to believe them (without fact-checking) who will then withdraw their support from the DAR. Less support, less $$$, ruined reputation, and soon, extinct organization. Just another sneaky lefty way to get rid of these pesky people who keep bringing up the Founding Fathers, Constitution, freedom, religious rights…

This is what the President General wrote in her blog of April 10, 2012 when questions about the change to the Ritual and Missal first arose:

The Executive Officers believe that the new Ritual and Missal can be used by members of any faith, substituting words as they wish, changing the prayers to suit the needs of the meeting in which they are being used. At our Executive meetings, knowing that we are all Christian, we pray in the Name of Jesus. When those are present whose faith is unknown, we pray in God’s name. However, we all recognize that when Christians pray in God’s name we are, indeed, praying in Christ’s name because the Christian faith believes in the Trinity of God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We also understand that our Jewish members know God as Jehovah or Yahweh, Muslim members use the name Allah for God and there are those whose spirituality may have a still different higher power or none at all.

We have in no way mandated that one must or must not use the name of Jesus Christ in the prayers. In our DAR rituals, prayers are included. Most of the prayers begin with “Our Father” or “Almighty God” and end “in Your Holy Name.” Christ’s prayer, known as The Lord’s Prayer, the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, Easter and Passover prayers and prayers for other religious observances are included.

The above passage also addresses the last major falsehood: that the name of Christ has been totally removed from the Ritual and Missal. That simply is not the case.

In promoting the importance of freedom of religion upon which our country was founded, our Founding Fathers intended for all religions and not one specific faith to be allowed and respected. The Constitution of the United States of America is clear on this issue as are many of the letters and writings of these great leaders. It was in the spirit of our Founding Fathers desire for freedom of religion that the most recent changes to the Ritual and Missal were made. For those wishing to access prayers, songs, poems, etc. from past Rituals and Missals, they have all previously been posted to the website and are available for use by all members at: http://members.dar.org/publ_forms/?List=Rit_and_Miss

“Second, the allegation has been leveled that Chaplains and others have been told not to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Again, this is an absolute falsehood. Each Chaplain and other officers are strongly encouraged to create their own prayers into which they may insert the name of Jesus Christ as deemed appropriate for the occasion and the audience. This is what the President General wrote in her blog of April 10, 2012 when questions about the change to the Ritual and Missal first arose:

“The Executive Officers believe that the new Ritual and Missal can be used by members of any faith, substituting words as they wish, changing the prayers to suit the needs of the meeting in which they are being used.

“We have in no way mandated that one must or must not use the name of Jesus Christ in the prayers.

“The above passage also addresses the last major falsehood: that the name of Christ has been totally removed from the Ritual and Missal. That simply is not the case.

“In promoting the importance of freedom of religion upon which our country was founded, our Founding Fathers intended for all religions and not one specific faith to be allowed and respected.

Who would have thunk it? The libs have even infiltrated the DAR. Talk about leaving no stone unturned… What next? The Elks? How about the “Mystic Knights of the Sea”? Who cares what this organization does or says. I would qualify for both the DAR and the Daughters of the Confederacy (my father’s sister belonged to both) but have always felt turned off by these snob organizations. I am proud of my heritage but don’t feel I need to beat my chest about it.

Absolutely unbelievable! When will this nonsense stop! Those liberal people behind this way of thinking are so few and far between yet they seem to be trying to run this nation. What happened to “majority rule”? The motto for this organization is “God, Home and Country”. I suppose they will want to change the motto now, too!

  • WarmMountain

When I posted this on Facebook, a friend of mine from the DAR said that it’s a hoax. She received a membership letter from the organization today about this.

Don’t we have any critical thinkers in this country anymore? Just because this was reported as “news” does NOT make it true. For some time now the Media has routinely reported opinion and hearsay masquerading as fact! So, stop — take a deep breath, and see if you can tell the difference.

DAR did not need to change a thing in relation to what was originally written in relation to Christ. That is the Person that our founding fathers recognized though some were not believers. Allow history to be preserved which provides the future generations with the truth as to what has truly taken place. There is a political move (under various guises) to remove any trace that our country was founded on the freedom to believe and herald the gospel. Check the first official document written, The Mayflower Compact. Amazing what you will find. I have shown this for years in our school during Thanksgiving. This is what those folks were willing to die for and about half of them did within the first year of arriving on this continent. Thank you.

Pamela Geller and I had an internet argument once about the role that Jews played- she came up with ONE who loaned money to the Army.

She didn’t get the irony of her defense.

Anyone wanna bet the leaders of this group are either homosexuals, or pro gay-lesbian in their views?

  • Sasja

So far, I have found no evidence to support this guy’s story (never heard of him before today).

Why don’t some of you do your own research and find where this is true and clue the rest of us in and stop with your stupid knee-jerk responses.

The Progressives are intent on changing our history. Nothing is real in their drug-induced view of the world; all must be as they wish it to be.

For example, have you read about the Hamas-CAIR operative named Nihad Awad?

He is arguing that Muslims (whose world view is mirrored for the world to see in the backward third world Middle Eastern hell-holes they dominate) discovered America before Columbus?

    You haven’t heard this?

Read about that lie at: http://sheikyermami.com/2013/01/03/hamas-cair-operative-nihad-awad-muslims-discovered-america-before-columbus/

    you’re all missing the point…

we are NO LONGER A CHRISTIAN NATION..

our Caliph in Chief to all Muslims Obama told US so..

and not only that, but MUSLIMS DISCOVERED AMERICA..

ergo, we are not only no longer a Christan nation, but an Islamic
Caliphate aka: The Ummah States Of Allah, or at the very least it
will be the banner your great grandchildren are born under.. :-(

This was all so that they could get government grants most likely. So, they sold their soul to the devil to get free government money (Now a perpetual job for those in charge). Next, they will be one of the organizations where money is likely axed!

    This story is completely false.

Fox News had something on that wasn’t true? I’m schocked!

  • http://BrainSurgeryWithSpoons.blogspot.com Mister Hooper

Downline from William (Signer) Hooper, I too should be blest by the DAR, but in fact I recognize what William Hooper RISKED HIS LIFE and honor to bear witness to, and that is that dominion is God’s, all are His servants and all abide by His bidding!

No thanks, DAR, I’ll keep God IN my life, and release the Daughters to their Godless folly.

William (Signer) Hooper’s downline, signing THIS Declaration of Dependence on God! 😀

The NSDAR continues to deny the removal of the name of Jesus and words that specifically reference Christianity. The DAR Daughters protesting the new Ritual and Missal have never denied that it contains many prayers with various references to God, which are used as generic names for any god or God. The facts are:
    • It is the deliberate omission of the actual name “Jesus” and “Jesus Christ” that we Christian Daughters find very offensive, as “Jesus” is the name God directed Mary to name His Son (Mathew 1:21) and the Bible directs us to pray in His name .
    • The name “Jesus” appears only once, and that is in a parenthetical statement about Easter. The name “Jesus Christ” is nowhere to be found!
    • The name “Christ” appears only three times, twice in the body of two of the five prayers for Easter and in a parenthetical statement “the Christ child” for Christmas.
    • Also offensive is the deletion or the altering of every prayer or poem having words that reference a Christian symbol or Christianity in some way. What is vital and dear to Christians has been purged from the Ritual and Missal in the name of so-called “inclusion.”

Every meeting of DAR begins with the DAR ritual led by the chaplain. The official guide book provided by the DAR for chaplains is the Ritual and Missal. In the front of both the old and new Ritual and Missals, there is a statement reminding Daughters to be considerate of members of all faith beliefs.
    • We know of no other administration that has given a specific example about how they pray. (Sept. 2011, President General’s Blog)
    • Although the President General’s later blogs confirmed that there is no mandate directing Daughters how to pray, concern remains for many members that political correctness has found its way into the NSDAR. Political correctness is political and divisive, as this issue now well illustrates. Our Bylaws forbid anything political. We heartily embrace Daughters of all faiths, beliefs, and life-styles. What we do not accept are the radical changes that exclude our Judeo-Christian beliefs, the very root and heart of American liberty, because others are offended by them.

It is also a fact that in the new Ritual and Missal oaths to the Constitution, a promise to respect the Flag, and the singing of the National Anthem were omitted.
    • After we brought this matter to the attention of the Administration, the President General issued statements that these omissions would be corrected with the next printing. When will that be?
    • It is another fact that two patriotic hymns have been deleted from a ritual. There has been no indication that these omissions will be corrected with the next printing.

Previous Ritual and Missals were compiled by appointed Chaplain Generals, were revised for each new administration, and had contributions by state chaplains. The new book dispenses with this tradition.
    • The newly revised book can be used for many future generations. If this method now replaces the former tradition, a permanent version should still reflect the legacy of our DAR founders. They entrusted their legacy to administrations that would follow them.
    • While placing some older versions on the DAR website is a step in the right direction, many members may not know about them or be able to view them.

The new Ritual and Missal must be recalled and reprinted to correct all omissions if the peace of our Society is to be restored. Otherwise, Christian Daughters have no choice but to resign their membership.

Unfortunately, because this Administration denied us our freedom of speech to discuss these changes to the Ritual and Missal among the membership at large, Daughters have been forced to take the matter public, and we are thankful to FOX and FRIENDS for breaking the story.
