Current TV Sold to Jew-Hating Anti-American Aljazeera Channel Who “Shares Same Goals”

Al Gore’s failing Current TV was sold to the Jew-hating anti-American Aljazeera Channel the Wall Street Journal reported. This was after the channel turned away The Blaze because Glenn Beck’s organization did not share the channel’s goals and visions.
The Blaze reported:

Seeking to expand its presence in American television, al-Jazeera, the Qatar-owned news network, has agreed to buy Al Gore’s low-rated Current TV, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but a person familiar with the matter said al-Jazeera paid a few hundred million dollars for Current TV. The network, which was co-founded by Mr. Gore and entrepreneur Joel Hyatt in 2005, has recently been struggling with low ratings.

The multimillion dollar deal came after Current rebuffed TheBlaze when it approached the network about buying the channel last year. According to a source close to the negotiations, officials at TheBlaze were told that “the legacy of who the network goes to is important to us and we are sensitive to networks not aligned with our point of view.”

An executive for TheBlaze confirmed these details on Thursday, noting that the decision not to sell to Beck’s network came only hours after executives reached out to a Current representative to discuss the matter. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Hyatt said that the decision to go with the Middle Easter outlet came, in part, because, “al-Jazeera was founded with the same goals we had for Current.”

This admission on the part of Current clearly shows that the network aligns itself with al-Jazeera — at least when it comes to goals and aspirations — something critics will likely question. As the AP noted, Dave Marash, a former “Nightline” reporter who worked for the network for a time, left in 2008 after sensing an anti-American bias.

Why on Earth would Beck WANT al-Jazeera to buy his channel? It seems odd that the Blaze is criticizing Current for sharing al-Jazeera’s views when they tried to join the network too.

@ Cactus – perhaps you have misread the article. I think Blaze was seeking to buy Current TV, not to sell to al-Jazeera.

This is incredible sad & scary… I can’t believe that al-Jazeera has goals stated as: “al-Jazeera was founded with the same goals we had for Current.” – What the heck is this about? Does this mean that the Current actually is based on embedding hate? Is everyone okay with allowing an organization known for it’s hatred for Jews & Americans world – wide? If they do go forward with this, we had better have some checks and balances in place to monitor this network closely. I don’t know anything about “TheBlaze”, but if this was only about money – shame on the Current!

@wbh, Durrr… I shouldn’t read this site when I first wake up! Thanks for the correction; I totally misread the article!

Typical liberal. Gore gets rich off of terrorist supporting group and will be a hero to the left. Meanwhile aljeezra supports the haters of everything the eft stand for or claim to. Women’s rights, religious freedom, Jewish freedom, etc etc

  • Robodog7

Gore pushed the deal through before the new tax rates of 2013 take effect. Typical liberal hypocrite.

Well, at least they were finally honest on their beliefs. For quite a while now we have been undermined from within. I think we are at the point now where those that have worked in the shadows of lies are starting to show their true selfs.

Come on, gang. Look on the bright side: Al-Jeezey just wasted millions of dollars buying a television channel nobody watches.

  • Redwine

Of course this far left channel sold to an Islamist propaganda purveyor. It’s the natural alliance of the Red and the Green. It is the alliance that is our anti-American, anti-Semitic regime.

Wow, so many people who are quite literally reading lies and believing them. 1984 came true after all! But I guess it doesn’t matter because your bodies are degenerated by sugar and other stuff anyway and people who have brains, are not misleaded by such silly sites as this one.

Lord and he almost became President. On the upside it is a telling look into the new Democratic Party. One World Order over Americas interest. Looks like WTF was runner up for the new order.

Beck wanted to purchase current TV.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Glenn Beck’s media company, The Blaze, approached Current Media about a sale last year, but was told in the words of one source that “the legacy of who the network goes to is important to us and we are sensitive to networks not aligned with our point of view.”

The Blaze “reached out to them to buy it,” a source familiar with the talks told POLITICO. “They would have replaced Current programming with The Blaze programming, but were told on initial calls that [Current] wouldn’t sell to someone they weren’t ideologically in line with.”

In explaining the reasons for selling to Al-Jazeera, Current co-founder and CEO Joel Hyatt told the Journal that the Qatari-based broadcaster “was founded with the same goals we had for Current,” including “to give voice to those whose voices are not typically heard” and “to speak truth to power.”

Those familiar with Al-Jazeera English know that it is a straightforward, hard-hitting and thorough news-gathering channel. But critics on the right will no doubt find irony in the fact that Current, which was co-founded by climate change advocate Al Gore, agreed to be bought out by a broadcaster owned by the Qatari government, and therefore funded by oil.

Those critics will also find irony in the fact that Gore and Current wanted to close the deal before Dec. 31, in order to avoide the higher tax rates that were to take effect on Jan. 1 — a detail flagged by Brian Stelter, who broke the news about Al-Jazeera’s bid. (The deal was not signed until Jan. 2.)

Beck will likely have a field day with this, not least because Al-Jazeera once ran an op-ed comparing him to a terrorist.
