Supreme Court Denies Hobby Lobby Request to Shield Company from Contraceptive Mandate

It’s an Obama world…
The Supreme Court denied a request by Hobby Lobby, a Christian-owned company, to shield the company from the contraceptive mandate.
Hobby Lobby released this video last month explaining their position on the contraceptive mandate in Obamacare.

Hobby Lobby could face fines of up to $1.3 million a day if they do not comply to the Obama mandate.
Reuters reported:

The Supreme Court has denied a request by Hobby Lobby to shield the company from the so-called contraceptive mandate while its legal battle plays out, after a federal court last week similarly ruled against the Christian-owned company.

The lower court had earlier refused to protect the company from an ObamaCare-tied requirement to provide contraceptive coverage, and the fines that come with it for not complying.

CEO David Green, who had taken his case to the appeals court after losing in a lower-court ruling, had argued that his family would have to either “violate their faith by covering abortion-causing drugs or be exposed to severe penalties.”

The Supreme Court’s latest ruling is not on the underlying merits of the mandate itself — it simply denies the company’s request for an injunction while legal battle on the merits plays out. There are currently more than 40 cases pending against that rule.

The mandate requires businesses and organizations, with some exceptions, to provide access to contraception coverage — Hobby Lobby was most concerned about coverage for the morning-after pill, which some consider tantamount to an abortion-causing drug. Hobby Lobby has refused to comply, while saying the fines could add up to $1.3 million a day.

You see what’s coming don’t you? Private companys will simply drop insurance for their employees. This is what the government has planned all along.

Agree with OldGuy, and also they could just close shop due to government interference.

Another dumbass decision by the Latina – it’s none of Hobby Lobby’s business what any employee does with her uterus. Hobby Lobby didn’t knock her up. And why should any employer be responsible for what any employee does on their off time?

This slippery slope will eventually lead to a lawsuit where a plaintiff will claim that her previous employment at a company years earlier (when she became pregnant) is entirely their fault and sue for child-support.

“Supreme Court Denies Hobby Lobby Request to Shield Company from Contraceptive Mandate”?!? NO… SotoMyWhore told the Catholics to shove it

Forget the ruling on the subject matter and the subject matter itself.

Was this a full-court decision and The Wise Latina wrote the majority opinion, or did Lady Gun-Confiscator simply up ‘n decree law on her own ?

Also, if this was a full-court ruling, it’s kind of obvious that one or more of the (formerly) sane justices either stopped giving a constitutional damn, got a ‘nudge’, or was outright threatened.

    5-4 ?
    6-3 ?
    7-2 ?
    8-1 ?

If it was unanimous, that would have been the headline instead of the decision itself.

Only one way out of this mess we find our nation mired within.

    Only one way.

Waivers for everyone! But F**k you Christians. Which is a feature… not a bug.

  • Kissmygrits

This holding religion hostage toward getting everyone transferred from private to public govt run insurance, from our dear leader who claims to be a Christian, and they say there’s no war on religion.

  • rosie

It initially goes to one justice and they decide whether to hear it by full court. Sounds like that was refused and they were told to have rehearings in lower courts.

BTW, she is certainly no medical/scientific expert in her private opinion….since the medication CAN cause abortions…why else take it if there is “nothing” to get rid of….it’s a super dose of the pill which itself also can set up conditions to cause abortions by thinning lining of uterus to prevent implantation of an already conceived life. This is why the Church objects even to contraception….since those abortions, unknowing, add to the already 55,000,000 in this country since ROE. This woman has just denied our rights of freedom of religion under the Constitution. Frame the next case against this treasonous decision.

Is the dictator govt still giving out waivers to their favorites?

  • TeachX3

If employers are forced, against their core beliefs to provide such, would it not be the next logical step for that employer, instead of paying the horrific fines, to remove all women from their payroll? This odumb administration, and the democrats, truly hate women.

No faith in scotus, none whatsoever. They are nothing more than a puffed up group of academics, toying with our G-d given rights.

Would be interesting to see what would have happened if Hobby Lobby said this went against their MUSLIM beliefs. Bet the answer would have been different.

Still have yet to see how any of this will be enforced. There is nothing compelling companies or states to follow these laws. The companies and states can afford to just ignore the laws without any penalty. Local communities will not enforce these laws at all, and no one will care.

Sotomayer has decided that the hundreds of millions of dollars in punative fines is not relevant to someone sueing the Federal Government!

Put into simple terms, if HHS decided to increase the fines to the ENTIRETY of the Hobby lobby net worth, then they could SIEZE this company in one day per the wisdom of this WISE Latina.

This shows EXACTLY how the FASCIST latina is going to SUBVERT the First Ammendment of the US Constitution.

Hobby Lobby needs to GO GALT. Close their doors. Same with ALL Catholic hospitals & charities operating in the US. Close ’em all down. At the same time if possible.
Let the Pope announce the Catholic church’s withdrawal and closure from all economic enterprises currently operating in the US.
Let hundreds of thousands of employees go. Crash the 0bamaeconomy into the gutter. Let the wave of economic discontent wash over society and set the stage for the impeachment of this dictator and his policies of malfeasance.
Beat 0bama at his own game.

btw… Thank God that America wrecking nasty piece of sh!t Lisa Jackson resigned today.
But I worry about who might take her place. Count on her to cause as much trouble as she can before she officially vacates her office.

We need a Hobby Lobby Day like Chik-fil-A Day. I shop there all the time. My little neices love the sewing and craft kits and I always find great gifts there for various family members. They have some cool mancave stuff there too.
