NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel is reportedly missing in Syria. He hasn’t been heard from since Thursday.
The Daily Mail reported:

NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel, one of the most prominent and accomplished international correspondents in the world, is reportedly missing in Syria.

Turkish newspaper Hurriyet reports that Engel, together with Turkish journalist Aziz Akyavaş, were last known to be in Syria and haven’t been in contact with NBC News since Thursday morning.

NBC still not reporting the news. They have “talking points” down to a science; news, notsomuch notatall.

My heart goes out to his family. I sincerely hope he is ok.

That said, these correspondents are purposely putting themselves and their would-be rescuers at risk for the sole purpose of getting a career-building headline. They refuse to tell the truth in words or photos. The true stories, as well as the implications of the gang rape in Egypt and other abductions and attacks on the press, are hidden from us so as not to interrupt the pro-jihadist, leftist template. If and when he returns we can expect the same bias.

  • GotFreedom

Delivering guns to the rebels on behalf of the BHO regime or maybe spying for them???

Seriously though, hope he is safe and will be heard from soon.

There better not be any dead Marines trying to rescue these dolts.

Boy, when are these people going to learn?

Note to “journalists”: Your profession does NOT give you any magical immunity on the battlefield, especially where the combatants involve dictators, strongmen, and terrorists. Those types are unlikely to give a rat’s you-know-what about the Geneva Convention or any other agreement that spells out some sort of protection for your kind.

What’s important to remember is this: It’s theoretical protection, but it won’t stop them from killing you if they feel like it.

Even though I disagree with his network, I hope for his safe return. I know he’s very fluent in Arabic, and I hope and pray that helps him survive whatever it is he’s going through.

First and foremost he’s an American, and we can’t have anyone targeting Americans abroad regardless who they are.

Really? Remember how NBC covered for administration incompetence in Benghazi? What about those murdered Americans?

Why is it that the only Americans in trouble who deserve our attention are the representatives of propagandists disguised as journalists?

Maybe if a few more journalists from NBC, CBS, and ABC are beheaded on YouTube these propagandists will learn to utter the words “Islamic Terror”.

As it stands now, just who is it who has this ‘journalist’? Tea Party racists, no doubt.

If they did grab him why haven’t the terrorists claimed credit yet along with their ransom demands? Maybe they killed him during the operation & they don’t know what to do w/ the corpse. It isn’t worth much if he is dead.

Now THAT is a headline that brought a smile to my face. If more leftists would suffer under the causes they espouse, and there are lots of really stupid liberal ideas and programs, then more common sense would appear in news reports. We keep telling the left that Islam is TOTALLY incompatible with Western values, and that Muslims mean us harm, but do they listen?

There have been captive journalists other than Daniel Pearl who were eventually released. Mr. Pearl was of Iraqi Jewish extraction; doubtful that determinant is operative in Richard Engel’s case.

  • He should have listen close to Laura Logan when she called out this regime and media for lying about Islamists when she said they hate us now more than ever…Hope the man is ok,but we all know that we are not dealing with human beings here, we’re dealing with, salvages…..

  • Sasja

FurryGuy, I fear you are right. I pray he is found alive and well. I cannot wish the same fate Pearl received on anyone, no matter how much I disagree with them.

  • Rose IV

Well, I have no problems with him being missing. Stay gone, who cares? There’s plenty more liberal hack reporters where he came from – completely replaceable and disposable.

The funny thing is, he probably considers himself on the ‘side’ of the insurgent rebels – but the jihadi’s consider him to be an American, their sworn enemy! ROFL Talk about deluded!

  • Marmo

OT: Sorry, Jim, but I don’t visit sites that have auto-play ads that start blaring out when I visit. I’ll check back in a couple of days to see if it’s still going on.

Sen InNoWay is dead. Well, can’t say I’m sorry. He was 88; no one lives forever.

Fear the worst but hope for the best. How terrifying for him. Total blackout on the MSM.

Engel translates to Angel. Don’t know if it’s relevant though.

Prayers for his safe return home. We all know it’s all the chance he’s got with Hillary’s brain injury and Obama’s solo golf tournament.

By the way the US Marine will take a bullet for Hillary’s black soul and if he survives he’d head right back in to save any American without hesitation. Our armed forces deserve so much better than Obama.

  • Pink Tie Republican

No doubt the terrorists will take into consideration the fact that Richard has been a good little propagandist for the international socialist movement and use a sharp knife rather than a rusty one.

  • Big Al

I hope he is OK but I don’t think any more attention should be devoted to him than any of our military who have gone into harms way.

There are gangs of notoriously insatiable Berber sodomites roaming the countryside in Syria. Engel could be some camel jockey’s concubine by now. Better send help or vaseline soon!

  • Sasja

#32. Whatever are you babbling about?

  • Richard Engle put himself at risk to cover the story, which is more than anyone posting here has done to my knowledge. I am a conservative Republican who opposes the progressive agenda. That said, some of the comments here are disgusting. They’d be more at home at Democratic Underground or the Daily Kos. Conservatives have principles and a sense of morality; let’s act like it.

  • Noah Highney

is just local custom, you know. What big deals? Not be so homeofobick

  • Oh well…

Then again, if we can hurry up and get that Anna Wintour chick approved as an ambassador maybe SHE can get something done. I mean, the qualifications!

I’d be mighty afraid to be an American being held by anyone with Obama President. He’d way the rescue against the publicity. If it went the wrong way for him, the American better think of converting.

    Just saying….

  • Mad Hatter

How long have you been part of the Gun Gestapo?

Richard Engel is a smart accomplished journalist. I hope he comes home safe. We need people like him to help us to understand what is going on in other parts of the world. He is loving honest person, and I am sickened by what people have said about him and journalists in general on this site.

  • Selena Spooger

Obama can not send forces to rescue him, it would look bad. He could not rescue the ambassador Stephens. It would not look good.

  • senah

This is probably going to up like Daniel Pearl.

  • #22furry guy…richard engel is jewish

he went to stanford, that may explain his political bias.

He’s a big obama supporter, maybe BO will have him rescued.

Seems it was only a matter of time before one of these foreign correspondents would go missing, I pray that he turns up alive. I believe Richard Engel to be a straight reporter with knowledge of his environment and an asset to our understanding of the events he covers.

  • DomesticGoddess

Update: He was released. Publicity stunt?

  • John21

An NBC liberal in support of the radical muslims is missing, what a shame.

One less propagandist in the NBC stable. I am sure they are already reviewing the Kool-aid crowd for another liberal to call a journalist. I can’t wait to hear the NBC/MSNBC spin on how it is not the poor Mualims cults fault he got his head removed.
No doubt they are already trying to spin this into being the Isreali’s action not their poor heros in the Muslim Jihad.

You just can’t fix this much stupid

  • Sasja

This report states he managed to “escape” during a firefight. This story has an odor.
