Family Sues PA School District After Their Daughter is Abused and Called a KKK Supporter for Wearing Romney T-Shirt

In October a Pennsylvania teen was ridiculed by her teacher and called a KKK supporter for wearing a Romney T-shirt to class.

This week the family sued the teacher at Charles Carroll High School and the school district over the abuse their daughter suffered for wearing the Rommney T-shirt to school. reported, via Townhall:

The parents of the Charles Carroll High School student ridiculed and ordered by her teacher to remove a t-shirt supporting Mitt Romney sued the teacher and school district on Friday, claiming the act violated the girl’s civil rights.

Filed in federal court in Philadelphia, the suit says the district ignored Samantha Pawlucy’s right to free speech, let other students threaten and harass her and subjected her “to emotional distress, simply because she exercised her First Amendment rights.”

Fernando Gallard, a spokesman for the district, said it would not comment on the lawsuit.

Pawlucy, a 16-year-old sophomore from Port Richmond, drew national headlines from the furor that erupted when she wore a pink “Romney-Ryan” shirt during a dress-down day at school in September.

According to the lawsuit, Pawlucy had worn the shirt all day when she walked into geometry teacher Lynette Gaymon’s classroom.

The teacher allegedly told the teen that Charles Carroll was a “Democratic” school and that her shirt was akin to one spouting a logo for the Ku Klux Klan. She ordered Pawlucy to remove the shirt, then enlisted an aide who tried to draw an X through the candidates’ name on the shirt.

I see now why they had to get God, the ten commandments, the Constitution and American exceptionalism out of the government schools.

It keeps the commie teachers’ heads from exploding.

I am sure there would have been no problem if she had worn an Obama shirt. I hope the Pawlucy family wins millions in their lawsuit.

Sue them for everything you can get! You go girl!

I hope the closed minded Speech Gestapo of a “teacher” gets taken to the wood shed over this, and is forced to apologize for not providing a safe, and harassment free environment for this student.

This a win win for dear leader. If a trial is held, we will hear how important dear leader is in school and life. If the school loses “millions” dear leader gets half in taxes. Win, win

I thought teaches were supposed to teach not indoctrinate. Losing all respect for that profession. Radical liberals who can’t be bothered to teach the kids to read but sure teach them Alinsky’s rules. Appalling.

    teachers not teaches

The underlying article doesn’t say what the principal did, and it does disclose that the teacher made a public apology later. However, the parents pulled the girl from school, contending that she couldn’t attend any more due to abuse from other students.

Given that the girl had worn the T-shirt all day before the geometry teacher sent ballistic, it does occur to me that the parents may be trying to increase the damage award. The teacher, of course, should be allowed to finish out the year, and then encouraged to seek other employment. That is not a person who should be allowed to be around school-age kids.

I thought the left has been harping about bullying in school? Or does that only apply to gay kids?

I hope Samantha wins her case. This isn’t the first time a student has been harassed and abused for exercising their First Amendment rights on school premises. I hope that vile and ignorant “teacher” was fired.

this is Philadelphia, she will lose the lawsuit. Sorry but that is how it is.

  • Indiana

Was that a Union-Backed teacher? I’d include the Union in the lawsuit.

  • JKB

Wait, if you are a high school teacher you can order teenage girls to take off their shirts and “draw an X” on shirts to “mark out wording on their chests”?

I got to get me one of those teaching certificates.

Go for it! Take it to the State Supreme Court if you have to! I know personally of a case in my state. It took 4 years or so but payout came last August…….a kid lost an eye over bullying in the school that was never addressed.

This Teacher in the story should be kicked out of the classroom pronto!

Just another example of a intolerant and close minded Democrat. Unbelieveable that this piece of garbage teacher thought she had a right to ruin the student’s T shirt. This teacher is a bully and should be fired. I hope she is successful in winning her lawsuit against the school and the school district.

I hope it destroys her career.
