In reward for their service Barack Obama is firing 20,000 Marines.
Obama is firing 20,000 Marines at the same time he is blowing hundreds of millions on green energy.
The NCTimes reported:
Since Gen. James Amos became commandant of the Marine Corps two years ago, the sea service has been challenged on multiple fronts.
First the ramping up of combat in Afghanistan, as a surge of Marines flooded violent Taliban strongholds in the south. Now the drawdown and handoff to Afghan national forces, despite no sign of an enemy collapse.
On the home front, economic woes and the winding down of more than 11 years at war have pinched military budgets. The Corps is shrinking by 20,000 Marines, to 182,100 and scraping to repair or replace battle-worn equipment.
More tough trade-offs lie ahead if nearly $500 billion in defense cuts already in store are doubled under the budget control law triggering “sequestration.” If Congress can’t find a solution, virtually no Marine program will be untouchable, Amos said.
Amid combat and budgetary strains, the Corps is also undergoing deep social change. After navigating the end of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” restrictions that prevented gay troops from serving openly, the armed forces now are focused on expanding opportunities for women and reducing sexual assault.

Gay rights affect quite a bit. Special things cost money. Lawsuits, attorney fees so on and so forth.
Military troops equipment is pathetic and when that happens who wants to be in the Military. Obama land and Obama nation.

$1 trillion in defense cuts. Obama needs his money, so our defense must be on the chopping block.
Progressives and all those entitlements are waiting for more money. He has to cut, so, I don’t know if he is playing roulette or if he just doesn’t care about our security.

Buy a clue and try to realize that in the NCTimes link, it was not an announcement, but rather a preface to an interview. And the examiner misread the NCTimes piece, just like you and GP did. They don’t call it the right-wing echo chamber for nothing.

We could save $10 billion in one year by cutting foreign aid to Egypt, Pakistan, Libya and Israel. We could also stop build the new DHS HQ building which cost the tax payers $3 billion. I did ten years in the Marine Corps, not to mention 3 tours in Iraq – the Marine Corps will survive this just like they survive every reduction in force after wars. But we have to cut spending, and hard. We can no longer afford to give our money to foreign governments, we can’t afford to be the world police anymore, we can’t afford to subsidize companies – green or traditional – and we can’t continue to pay for endless entitlements.
