Harry Reid Reaches Out to Republicans: “You Can’t Push Us Around!” (Video)

Harry Reid today moved to limit GOP filibusters.
“I want to work together. But I want everyone to understand, you can’t push us around!”
Via Your World:

The Washington Times reported:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday that he will try to push through a change to Senate rules that would limit the GOP’s ability to filibuster bills.

Speaking in the wake of Tuesday’s election, which boosted Senate Democrats’ numbers slightly, Mr. Reid said he won’t end filibusters altogether but that the rules need to change so that the minority party cannot use the legislative blocking tool as often.

“I think that the rules have been abused and that we’re going to work to change them,” he told reporters. “Were not going to do away with the filibuster but we’re going to make the Senate a more meaningful place.”

Republicans, who have 47 of the chamber’s 100 seats in this current Congress, have repeatedly used that strong minority to block parts of President Obama’s agenda on everything from added stimulus spending to his judicial picks.

A filibuster takes 60 senators to overcome it.

The American people could have easily replaced Republican house members with Democrats during this election. Just as Obama’s winning is an endorsement of his policies, the GOP’s winning is an endorsement of what they represent.

The voters obviously want a deadlock!

Boehner making first move at a ” revenue ” compromise, but it will be treated as a sign of weakness and Ds will push for more. Meanwhile Reid moves in the direction of partisan tyranny.

John Boehner caves within 24 hours. What a piece of work. Rot in hell, Boehner..

Harry must be off his medicine as it was the Republicans trying to push legislation and budget bills in the Senate, and he would not bring things to a vote or make a budget.

To ratify treaty after treaty coming from UN.

Stop this madness. I wondered what they would do. Makes sense. Obama issues EOs and ignores Congress and now the Senate will finish it off.

Someone tell me again why Repubs did not hit Obama everyday with ‘Where’s the budget”?

Why did I not hear our ELECTED voices out there shouting the question?

Why? If they had shouted it everyday on tv for 4 years, it could have made a difference.

How many times did I hear that Republicans were not cooperating and it was their fault?

The GOP needs to get the hell as far away from Harry Reid as possible, Hey the Demorats got their way in this election let The One and all the moron Demorats drive the fiscal Cliff Bus over the cliff all by themselves. And hopefully some of them will be driving the bus , and hopefully some will be under the bus as it disappears over the cliff.
Please GOP stay away, we all know that when this thing fails, and with Dems and Obama in charge it will fail, who the hell do you think will get all the blame for the comedic fiasco, Yes that’s right the GOP….STAY AWAY…….

Hank, I totally agree. The sheet spinelessness of the Republican Leadership is what got us to this point to begin with! Time to abandon all hope. The prospect of them ever coming to their senses is deep into “delusional” territory now.

Hunker down! Get a piece of property with water and a food source. Exchange dollars for stuff that has intrinsic value. Buy guns and ammo. America as we once knew it is in its death throes. Likely to get very ugly before it gets any better… if ever.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones.

A majority of the senate can change the senate rules, NOT the Constitution.

It still takes 2/3rds to radify a treaty.

    Nothing’s Changed

    by Mychal Massie

[I would have awakened still very much aware that the GOP hierarchy was no more our friend than Obama. I would have still awakened fully cognizant that John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Kevin McCarthy, John McCain, et al, were two-faced and working diligently to ensure they get what they want at our expense. I would have still awakened with the understanding that it was going to be even more difficult to succeed at real conservative causes and reduce the size of government, because Republican voters would be filled with a euphoria that would blind them to what it really will take to move this country in a right direction.

    [..]

Obama’s winning a second term doesn’t mean he will be tempered. It doesn’t mean he will suddenly move to the center or become more personable. It means he will become even more drunk with his image in the mirror. And it means he will go even further outside the permissible rule of law. It means that like Mr. Nixon, he will seek retribution against his perceived and/or real enemies.

Obama is spiteful, vindictive, pernicious, and his narcissism has brought him to the brink of emotional instability. That is a dangerous alchemy for a potentate with a messianic complex.

Fast and Furious is still out there and believe me, someone knows the truth about how close it is to Obama. Benghazi is still out there and believe me someone knows the truth about what really happened. The rewarding of failing companies with taxpayer billions is still out there and someone knows the truth about it. And those are but three of the things that will haunt Obama regardless of his arrogant gestures.]

albeit i don’t totally agree with everything he writes, he has a way of
offering a different perspectives that can be quite eye opening, ergo,
    hope you rtwt..

We need to push Congress to be tough in investigating F and F as well as Benghazi. We need to be relentless. Letting those things go is treasonable, and we the people will have to DEMAND answers. Soon. Now.

BTW, is there any talk about changing the Speaker of the House?

Speaker of the House John Boner is doing exactly what the GOP Elites want. Why change now when he has be so successful in realizing the agenda.
