CIA Analyst on Petraeus Departure: “TIMING IS TOO PERFECT… IT REALLY SMELLS” (Video)

Retired Lt. Colonel Ralph Peters accused the Obama Administration of holding on to the news of Petraeus’ affair until they needed it – right before he was to go before a Senate committee and get grilled on Benghazi.

The timing is too perfect for the Obama administration. Just as the administration claimed it was purely coincidence that the Benghazi consulate was attacked on 9-11. Now it’s purely coincidence that this affair surfaces right after the election but before the intelligence chiefs go to capital hill to get grilled…. It really smells.

Ralph Peters smells a Chicago rat.

Or maybe it was just coincidence.

    Not buying the “affair” story.

Would seem to me that resigning need not keep him from being called to testify since it was during his tenure this atrocity took place.

  • AmericaWILL

Dang right it smells. Like a freakin’ sewer! This is also why Petraeus was so quiet for the past month. The O was holding this over his head like sharp blade. How much lower can this admin possibly go?????

Petreus is the latest victim of the PURGE, following Benghazi……Gen Carter Han, AFRICOM..

This is only the beginning folks, when you have an administration that is loaded with criminals from the top down you can expect anything. hang onto your wallets because the S.O.B in the WH is going to tax us to death.

Convenient!!! That’s an understatement!!! Everything the gang from Chicago pulls is convenient! This country is going to resemble Venezuela in another year!

  • coolidgerules

The purge and the hammer are going to both happen before 2014- If this keeps up, damn near every dem in both houses is going to get shellacked. Barky can’t do this with both houses in opposition. But he NEEDS one to blame all his problems on. The Party of Stupid still holds the House.

  • Linda

We don’t know if (or how) Petraeus might of been threatened if he did not cooperate with these creeps concerning Benghazi’s investigation!

I would not blame him at all…it is another great loss to America!

My guess it is true, and, this corrupt administration was holding it over his head. Blackmail, if you will. This really makes you rethink Robert’s “last moment” switch on his obamacare vote.

FULL-BLOWN COVER-UP: WILL NOW NOT TESTIFY AT HEARING – Petraeus Resigns As CIA Chief On Eve Of Benghazi Hearing, Cites Extra-Marital Affair – READ FULL RESIGNATION LETTER HERE

SECOND AND MAJOR UPDATE: NEIL CAVUTO HAS JUST REPORTED (4:15 PM EST) THAT PETRAEUS WILL NOW NOT BE TESTIFYING AT NEXT WEEK’S BENGHAZI HEARING….SHADY AND DEVELOPING…CBS BACKS CAVUTO REPORT, PER NATIONAL REVIEW: CBS’ Mark Knoller tweets that “Senate Intelligence Committee says Petraeus will not testify at next week’s closed hearing on the events in Benghazi.”

Perhaps there is some protocol I’m unaware of, but I don’t see why resigning should affect whether Petraeus testifies or not. He was in charge of the CIA when the Benghazi attack occurred, and the CIA has been under plenty of fire for how the attack was handled.

  • Michele

Or…Petraeus could have been told that if he squealed on Benghazi, his affair would be leaked to the media. He may have called their bluff, admitted the affair ahead of them, and resigned, leaving them to wonder if he’ll still squeal on Benghazi. Well, it’s a theory anyway.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

Nothing is likely to happen. Why?

I wondered if Petraeus was the source for Jenmifer Griffin’s story. She interviewed him in Afghanistan and they seemed to have a cordial relationship.

But some of Griffin’s story was kind of later walked back by the CIA, I thought.

  • dwd

If Congress can haul Mark McGwire and Roger Clemens in for a hearing, they can bring in Petraeus as well, even if he is no longer head of the CIA.

The man still has the knowledge and information. Just because he has resigned doesn’t mean he can’t be put through the wringer to squeeze that information out. Same for Holder, same for Hillary.

Agree with Patty. What does testifying have to do with a personal problem? So if you don’t want to testify about anything, you grab whoever you want, have a fling, and now you’re free and clear. Makes no sense. If the idiot congress won’t pursue the truth for the benefit of America and Petreaus won’t stand up like a man, maybe one of the family of our dead American patriots, can bring a wrongful death suit against him and get to the truth that way. Unbelievable what this country is becoming–

Scummier by far. He swore a personal Oath of Office to uphold the Constitution and Laws of the Unites States of America every single time he extended his enlistment. His first duty was to the Constitution. His second duty was to the men under his command. He failed on both counts. An affair? That is the least of the problems . . . . hope he has a really good bodyguard.

That is exactly my read on it. I bet he has been gently nudged since it happened and he decided to go out his way. Otherwise, there is not an explanation I can figure. If he thought he was going to be the fall guy anyway, why not throw their blackmail back in their faces.

He probably feels responsible for the 4 dead Americans. I can’t see him as a backstabber.

It probably does not have to do with Benghazi. It has to do with feeling responsible because he worked for Obama and refusing to be blackmailed.

They must make him testify. I want to hear from Petraeus.

General Petraeus was never my favorite. He became less of a favorite when he decided to work for Obama. Took the shine right off his head but that does not mean he would sit still for all the crap Obama is doing. I can see him keeping quiet for a CIA program to run guns for Obama. Then what does he do………….

No one comes out and says they are quitting because of an affair 2 days before he is to testify and 3 days after an election.

Tin foil hatters all around. This is PURE coincidence and Patraeus is a good man who did NOT want to even think his choice to step down would affect the election in any way. He waited until after the election as any good man would.
    Now a few questions.

When did he make this decision?

When can you remember the last time such a figure head and cabinet member told the truth of why he is stepping down even though it is an affair just after an election when as many cabinet members step down early in the second terms of presidents? Defense Department can’t put soldiers, ballots together

[Barack Obama is president and commander-in-chief of the U.S. military but after his attorneys argued in court that service members who are fighting for the defense of the nation deserve no special accommodation to vote, a number of elected officials are raising questions about the White House commitment to the soldier’s rights

The ACLJ statement continued, “To hold, as the Obama campaign argues, that our men and women in uniform do not deserve these special considerations, that providing them is ‘entirely arbitrary,’ and that there is ‘no legitimate justification’ for recognizing and addressing the unique situation that the brave members of our military face with regarding to protecting their right to vote would have disastrous affects on the numerous military voting rights laws that have been passed both federally and at the state level.”]

Military Absentee Ballots Delivered One Day

[Sources confirmed today that hundreds of thousands of military absentee ballots were delivered hours after the deadline for them to be counted, with preliminary counts showing that they would have overturned the vote in several states and brought a victory for Governor Mitt Romney.

Officials say the ballots were delivered late due to problems within the military mail system. Tracking invoices show the ballots sat in a warehouse for a month, then they were accidentally labeled as ammunition and shipped to Afghanistan. At Camp Dwyer, Marine Sergeant John Davis signed for them and was surprised at the contents.]

Valrico resident and Navy Captain Peter Kehrig, who has been abroad

Florida State Law requires county supervisor of elections offices to

Voters who miss two consecutive general elections (2010 and 2008,

    Obama suppressing the military vote

[Wonder why absentee ballots being returned by the military is so low this year? For example, in September, the pivotal state of Ohio received about 9700 absentee ballot requests, whereas in 2008 there were over 32,000. The answer: Pentagon report: Obama administration fails to set up voting offices on bases.

The Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act mandates that every military base, except those in war zones, have a voter assistance office to ensure troops can register to vote and get absentee ballots. There are about 229 military bases worldwide. Now, only 116 will be open for voting assistance.

Denying our military voting assistance is unconscionable. Our military
personnel put their lives in jeopardy to protect Americans. But our
government is not vigorously supporting their right to vote. Yet, in
America the government is requiring welfare agencies to assist
    voters by providing absentee ballots.

This willful neglect of the military voters smells rotten and
spicious. Shame on you, Obama. Our country deserves better.

Absentee ballots may have been destroyed in crash

[Federal officials say that absentee ballots being sent to U.S. military
serving in Afghanistan may have been burned in a plane crash.

A top official in the Federal Voting Assistance Program this week notified election officials across the nation that a transport plane crashed at Shindad Air Base on Oct. 19.

The crash resulted in the destruction of 4,700 pounds
of mail inbound to troops serving in the area.

Federal officials in their email to state election offices said they did
not know if any ballots were destroyed. They also said the lost mail
was limited to one zip code.

But they recommended that election officials resend a new ballot to
anyone who requested one since the first ballot may have been

What smells is Petraeus giving Obama something to hold over him, considering what goes with the package of blackmailing a top-ranked General.

This is why our Founding Fathers didn’t tolerate such infidelity or fiduciary misconduct among people in positions of Trust. Anyone who thinks Petraeus has high character, when he handed Obama not only his own head, but that of the Military as well, in the bargain. NOT ME!

in this case, the list of things Petraeus did NOT do is a long, long one

    1) did he approve other officers’ demotions or court-martials for similar bad behavior? hmmm?
    2) did he say or do anything RE: the SEAL team helicopter crash weeks after the ‘bin Laden’ raid.
    3) did he say or do anything RE: Benghazi? (you think bombshell testimony is forthcoming?)

[The Obama administration sat by doing nothing for seven hours that night, ignoring calls to dispatch help from our bases in Italy, less than two hours away. It has spent the past seven weeks stretching the story out, engaging in misdirection and deception involving supposed indigenous outrage over an obscure anti-Muslim video, confident that with the aid of a docile press corps this infamous climax to four years of misguided foreign policy can be swept under the rug, at least until after Tuesday’s election.

Charles Woods, father of former Navy SEAL and Henderson resident Tyrone Woods, 41, says his son died slumped over his machine gun after he and fellow ex-SEAL Glen Doherty – not the two locals who were the only bodyguards Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration would authorize – held off the enemy for seven hours.

The Obama administration was warned. They received an embassy cable June 25 expressing concern over rising Islamic extremism in Benghazi, noting the black flag of al-Qaida “has been spotted several times flying over government buildings and training facilities.” The Obama administration removed a well-armed, 16-member security detail from Libya in August, The Wall Street Journal reported last month, replacing it with a couple of locals. Mr. Stevens sent a cable Aug. 2 requesting 11 additional body guards, noting “Host nation security support is lacking and cannot be depended on,” reports Peter Ferrara at But these requests were denied, officials testified before the House Oversight Committee earlier this month.]

    Sasja commented:

Linda, we owe him nothing if, and I say if, he betrayed his country. He did not have to accept the appointment to the CIA. Why he did is anyone’s guess. It was his decision to “work for a communist.”

Sasja…the man is innocent until proven guilty!

“IF” Petraeus had betrayed his country as you put it…Petraeus would have no reason to be leaving now! Why not give him the benefit of the doubt and think that maybe Benghazi was not okay with Petraeus and maybe Petraeus was going to tell on who is responsible…and maybe just maybe that is why he is being removed now to keep him quiet.

Why he took the job…well maybe for the same reason a lot of people take jobs…they worry that if they don’t some wicked individual will! But like you said we don’t know! He was stuck with a communist just as we are…but rest assured as much as we hate to have a communist in that office…it is by far more difficult for our Military because they have a greater love for this country!

And as you said “we don’t know” we really don’t have grounds to be so hard on someone that has sacrificed himself, his family, friends, who always had an outstanding record…I will give not forget his sacrifices!

  • Linda

Sasja…another thing about the Military…our Military has had their hands tied for sometime…and it keeps getting worst…General Ham “TRIED” disobeying orders but only for a minute and a half…we might never really know exactly what all happened…since this isn’t really the America we used to have!

Don’t this just beat all? Ain’t this just the cherry on top of this week from hell?

#76 Petraeus can not un-ring a bell. He told Issa’s Committee that Benghazi was about a You Tube video. He parrotted Obama and Clinton’s lie – and he knew it was a lie.

Also – read a while ago that Petraeus was the kind of General in command who ran like 10 miles a day and if anyone wanted to be “with him” they’d better learn to like massive runs every day.

I think he’s a class A jerk who sold his soul – for his own image – to Obama and now wants out because he sees the writing on the wall – disgrace, impeachment and even treason.

The same PR genius who invented Petraeus’s affair (which probably never really happened) is the same one who thought Americans would be stupid enough to believe Benghazi was all about a You Tube video. Axelrod the Astroturffer – most likely.

Congress will subpoena Petraeus and he will lawyer up like a made Chicago thug. But he will have to show up (not next week – but sometime)

  • Miss Peach

I smell a big, fat rat ! Resigns a week before he is to testify in the Benghazi hearings, and then Barry conveniently leaves town for Asia. Let’s see now… Hillary Clinton, Panetta, Eric Holder, Timmy Geithner, Jay Carney, and now Petraeus all resigning. Betting they are all jumping ship before the shat hits the fan !

Fools are easy to wow. so many new thoughts to process, it must be very confusing.

“Constitutional Conservative Patriots stood by him and applauded him, and he has disappointed us. Nothing new. Remember Colin Powell? We Respect the uniform, but that’s a human inside.
We respect the Office of the Presidency, but not every human who inhabits it.”

Benedict Arnold was the best General that Washington had, including himself. Arnold was the Hero of Saratoga, a crucial early victory. Washington nearly collapsed when he confirmed Arnold’s treason.

George Mclellan was Lincoln’s top choice to lead the Army of the Potomac but refused to engage Lee. Then, in 1864 he actually ran against Lincoln for the Presidency. And what, pray tell, was a Union General running for? and against?

Military service is always applauded, but that doesn’t give anyone a free lifetime pass for bad decisions that are a disservice to the country. How can any Patriot think of Colin Powell the same way again? Colin Powell has fallen victim to his human frailty as any other human can.

Does any Patriot consider John Kerry or Al Gore fit for National Leadership just because they were in Viet Nam? ya’ wanna ask the ‘Swift Boat Veterans’ about that?

Am I supposed to bow to Wesley Clark just because he was NATO Commander?
He’s a frikkin’ whackjob who cannot be trusted in the top political echelon of American government? he said alotta weird things when he ran for President- as a Democrat, of course.

Randall “Duke” Cunningham (born 12/8/41!) was America’s Top Ace in Viet Nam, and he became a Republican Congressman from Southern California, usually doing good work. But, he got caught in corruption and went to jail- bye-bye, and there went a great reputation, never to recover.
Conservatives are sad, but he cannot be trusted anymore and that’s the end of that story.

    So, cut the BS!

you’re just using an easy opening trying to lay a guilt trip on concerned Conservatives, and it won’t work, for the reasons I laid out earlier. If you lay down with the devil, don’t be surprised if he steals your soul. I immediately lost respect for Petraeus, the same way I lost respect for Powell, the same way I lost respect for Christie- when they warmed up to this Enemy of the Republic.

Constitutional Conservatives do not and will not work with this devil. We seek to DEFEAT HIM.
It’s harder for the Good Guys now, but we’ll make it hard for Him going “Forward” too.

if that’s too tough for you, then I guess I won’t be seeing you on the ‘Ramparts’. crawl back to your masters, you’ve been defeated

[…What is more striking, though, is more U.S. soldiers have been killed and wounded during President Barack Obama’s first term in office than former President George W. Bush’s two terms…]

than they did during the entire eight years of the Bush administration.]

As far as I’m concerned, if Petraeus was there and let those people die and did nothing, there is nothing he can do to redeem himself. An affair has no bearing on the issue to me.

Even if they were the core of a gun-running operation to islamis, which to me is about as bad as it gets, the leadership cannot abandon the people on the ground to their fate without said so-called leadership suffering consequences themselves.

It is just more stench coming out of the steaming stinking mass that is Washington DC.

  • Robert

And Petraeus should be subpoenaed to testify, a trifling affair should not allow him to escape questioning.

I’m with Granny on this one…
There are no coincidences in life

If he did have an affair it’s no ones business but his and his wifes. It’s immoral sure but still doesn’t really concern national security. I’m on the BS band wagon here. When will Americans wake up and see what is really going on?

Yes, I am absolutely convinced that this election was STOLEN.

Romney/Ryan didn’t lose because of ineffective messaging, they didn’t lose because the cheering conservatives who attended their campaign speeches by the tens-of-thousands suddenly had second thoughts, they didn’t lose because “Obama looked so presidential” as he feigned interest in the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy during his photo-ops with Gov. Christie. They lost because of MASSIVE (but, dammit, unprovable) voter fraud.

The VERY FIRST THING Americans need to do is restore the integrity of the voting process: paper ballots PLUS indelible ink (a la Iraq’s purple-index-finger idea). If we can’t trust that the votes as tabulated represent the will of the people –and right now WE CAN’T– then all this self-flagellation over what-went-wrong (and our exhortations to “sell our message better” and “find a candidate who can articulate his vision”) are pointless. Remember (as Stalin said) “it’s not how they vote that counts, it’s who counts the votes”. Data stored electronically on some form of magnetic media isn’t permanently etched there; changes to the “on/off” relationships of the bits and bytes are not traceable. (Yes, computers can be programmed to print out “data change reports”; but like The Imposter’s website which allowed donations from Pakistan, programs can be… “selective” …about what they report, or don’t report.)

As for our options right now, all I can think of is to have outraged citizens FLOOD their state’s Secretary of State’s office with written protests to the effect that “I believe my vote WAS NOT COUNTED and I DEMAND A RECOUNT”. The Pretender has not been re-inaugurated yet; the Electoral College doesn’t cast their votes until mid-December; and even though every damn state in the Union rushed to certify the vote, I’ll bet that with enough pressure they can damn well de-certify it. (Like, if they receive a few hundred-thousand complaints from Very Irate Voters.)

    So, Fellow Citizens:

Is it worth YOUR time (and the cost of a stamp) to send such a letter to YOUR Sec-of-State? (1) Keep in mind, the noose of totalitarianism only tightens. The time to throw off the yoke is before it’s strapped into place. (2) Remember, too, that over the course of our two-centuries-plus, countless brave men have DIED to ensure that We The People *HAVE* the right to vote in free and fair elections. The “free and fair” part is in grave danger RIGHT NOW.

Are you going to shrug and tell yourself that “Nah, it probably won’t work; and I hate writing letters anyway; and besides ‘something’ will happen and ‘somehow’ the Liberal/ Progressive/ Communist/ One-World-Government types will realize that they really don’t want the power and control [which they’ve already spent a half-century in their “Long March Through The Institutions” to acquire] necessary to bring America to her knees — I’m sure they’ll suddenly turn into reasonable live-and-let-live folks who happily abide by the letter and spirit of the Constitution, so I don’t need to make waves about one little election” ?? Hmmm? [Think: “If not me, then who? If not now — when?”]

This election was the wolves and the sheep deciding ‘democratically’ who to have for dinner. Are you the sheep?

Maybe you’ve never heard of Joe Pags. I hadn’t until I ran across him on Chicks on the Right. This clip is from his show last week; he’s talking to a – theoretically – conservative Christian caller as she attempts to explain why she voted for Big Guy (spoiler: Pags reveals she has no reason). I encourage you to listen to Every. Single. Minute. It may not necessarily make you feel better, butt it sure will help you grasp the extent of the stupidity in America we need to dispel.

This is from Joe Pags’ column on the same subject:

Let’s face facts. Democrats gained in the House of Representatives, the Senate and the chief Democrat in charge was re-elected after one of the worst four year periods in American history, economically and constitutionally. How does that happen? Republicans/Conservatives (which are not necessarily interchangeable terms — but, we’ll lump them together for the sake of this column) gave voters credit for being smart while Democrats assumed they’re not. Let’s break down what Obama, Pelosi, Reid, the Obama SuperPACs, et. all were saying for a year and a half:

Republicans are prosecuting a war on women
Romney only cares about his rich friends and Wall Street
Romney is responsible for the death of a woman by somehow giving her cancer
Romney specialized in closing down businesses, laying people off and outsourcing jobs — especially to China
Romney is a liar. All he does is lie. And, after he lies, he lies about the lies he told.
Republicans are trying to outlaw contraception
Republicans are trying to close down Planned Parenthood to stop women from getting cancer screenings
Republicans want to put all Latinos on buses and send them back to Mexico
Republicans think rape is okay — and women should just stop talking about it
Republicans all own stock in oil companies and are forcing gas prices up
Republicans want to give rich people a tax break and make the poor and Middle Class to make up the difference
Romney hates half the country (47%)
Romney will end Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid

Only problem with that list is, not one bit of it is true. Republicans/conservatives assumed everyone hearing this list of Democrat/liberal talking points would know it was completely false. They gave the American people credit for being smart enough to know better. Millions are and do — but, unfortunately, more millions aren’t and don’t. Here’s a list filled with the absolute truth about the last four years:

    Gas prices doubled
Obama said no to the Keystone XL Pipeline
Obama sent billions to Brazil to drill there
    Food prices have soared
Unemployment is higher than the day he took office
Obama apologized around the world for the United States of America
His DOJ refused to prosecute voter intimidation by the New Black Panther Party
Obama promised to cut the debt in half in his first four years — has doubled it
Obama will now cut military spending
Obama refuses to answer questions on what happened the night four Americans died in Benghazi
Obama has used Executive Privilege to continue stonewalling on Fast and Furious
Obama has bragged about bypassing Congress repeatedly
Obama has sued states for passing immigration laws
Obama has sued states for passing Voter ID laws
Obama and the Dems forced through Obamacare by lying about abortion and raising taxes
Ran on a platform to raise taxes in his second term
Obama blew billions on failed energy companies
Obama has grown government to its biggest size in history
Obama told Russia he can do more after the election
Obama Told NASA to include Muslims more
    Obama Flip-flopped on gay marriage
Obama is forcing religions to offer contraception even if it goes against their beliefs
Obama is the most vehement supporter of abortion we’ve ever had in the White House

These are all facts. That’s just a short list of what this wannabe dictator has done in four years and Republicans/conservatives know how outrageous this administration has been and made a bad assumption that the American people were smart and would know how horrible these things are and this administration has been. Bad assumptions.

  • I think this was Petraeus’ escape window after he gathered the intel he needed. As well, all these senior military personnel Ovomit is firing? Watch that come back to bite it in the tail.
