Bill Kristol: A Lot of Tea Party Members Don’t Care If We Raise Taxes on Millionaires (Video)

Bill Kristol became a spokesman for the Tea Party this morning on FOX News Sunday. During the FOX News Sunday panel Kristol argued for higher taxes again and said,

“I don’t think Republicans have the leverage or it’s worth using whatever leverage they have in maintaining rates at 35% instead 37 or 38%. I just don’t think it’s economically as far as policy especially if you can take it up to millionaires… A lot of Tea Party members don’t care that much if a couple millionaires pay that more in taxes, honestly.”

And, he wonders why Obama quotes him in his press conferences?

The Tea Party was created to slow the growth of government and reduce government spending.
Obviously, Bill Kristol doesn’t understand the “TEA” in the Tea Party stands for “Taxed Enough Already.”

  • brian

i’m afraid he never was a tea party guy. who knows what these beltway elites are thinking?

  • GotFreedom

Sorry but Billy boy is an inside the beltway elitist member of the RINO establishment and does not speak for the Tea Party. . .EVER!

  • noway

crystal you don’t speak for us. go back to your inherited wealth home and leave us be.

  • succotash

Can’t stand him,he just trys so hard to be relevant.

  • ★FALCON★

Bill Kristol, George Will, Ann Coulter, et. al. are all the problem – they have no foundations. No ability to see what made the country great and are happy to see it torn down.

Hey, they made their millions – who cares about the next guy.

Wow, everything would be terrific for the Republicans if those darn pesky social conservatives and now those publicly schooled Tea Party members went away. Please keep asking Bill, and they will.

  • Bronson

This dinosaur doesn’t represent me or my views

Someone get him off the stage. He’s an embarrassment.

  • Fuquay Steve

Those neo-cons sure make the rest of us uncomfortable, don’t they? Maybe they need to take a hike and not us.

  • Swifty

I love it when the folks within the beltway throw out that phrase “balanced approach” right now as though that is so logical and sensible.

What they are saying is that we should use today’s obscene spending rate (not based on any budget that anyone in Congress has voted on) and use that as the starting point to offset in the other direction. No. I don’t accept that as a baseline in getting to a “balanced” solution.

We need a balanced solution based on what the spending and spending rates were before Congress started getting hyper-crazy when Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid took over under Bush who pretty much rubber stamped everything he was sent. We have had majorly unbridled Democrat spending now for six years, not just four or two years. That starting point should be what has to be used to get to a real and meaningful “balanced” solution.

This Tea Partier also says to the irrelevant Krystal to STFU and take Rove, Priebus, Morris, Megan and every other so-called republican “strategist” with you. We want to start over without the likes of you.

  • Alvin

Krystol insulted the Tea Party numerous time. He will have hell to pay this time.

  • ALL_IS_LOST

We all know the Tea Party only wants to send all blacks back to Africa or chains….Duh so why would they care if we raise taxes?

    RINO spokesperson Bill Kristol says:

‘”Stamping out the Tea Party” is the first plank of the RINO platform.’

    what a putz.

  • journeyman

Just the fact that the man thinks he can speak for the TEA party says volumes about our remaining relevance. The fact that he seems to believe his own analysis of what the TEA party stands for tell us that he isn’t one of us.

    Total globalist SCUM!

  • Sam Stone

I agree with him to a point. I would be open to paying more in taxes IF IF IF actual spending cuts are put in place. NOT cuts in planned increase in spending, but REAL cuts from the past years spending. If the Federal spending was LESS than the past 3 years and local and state government got more of the fed income tax back, or not send to DC to begin with, I would say OK to paying a little more.

  • Joanne

Obama doesn’t want to collect more taxes to pay down the debt but to have more monies to spend on big government and hand-outs to keep his voting base. The U.S. government is a growing tumour sucking the blood supply from everything and everyone.

  • JoyO

I really think the Democrats would prefer that the Bush taxes expire. They will get more money from all Americans — the rich, the middle class, and the lower income people. The Pravda media will see that the Republicans are “screwed” no matter what the Republicans ultimately do to address the fiscal cliff!

Four Americans were killed over two months ago in Behghazi and the media says the Republicans only want to investigate what truly happened for political reasons. What kind of people would not want to know why this Administration watched the attack in real time for over seven hours and did not rescue these four Americans? We need to know why they weren’t rescued and who gave to order to stand down.

It’s time for Fox News to show Bill Kristol the exit door, he adds nothing to the network. Time after time again Kristol shows that he has no clue what he’s talking about.

  • Rich

Democracy rules right? Polls indicate the wealthy overwhelmingly supported Obama and the Democratic Party. Why not grant their wish for higher taxes? 45% for incomes over 500,000 at the federal level sounds good to me IF federal spending is cut by 10%. Those folks voted for it, let them have it.

  • NeoKong

Bill Kristol wouldn’t be caught dead at a Tea Party rally.
He looks down on them as much as Democrats do.

  • bobbymike

Spending is 25% of GDP when historically it was about 20%.

HEY REPUBLICANS (including Kristol) DEMAND spending be reduced to these levels before any taxes are raised AND get in front of the camera AND MAKE THE CASE

No one is making the case how government has exploded under Obama and with Obamacare will continue to grow and grow and grow.

    Does any Republican ‘speak’ conservative?

  • Rich

Didn’t the Tea Party caucus vote for the budget deal last year that all but guarantees sharply higher taxes for all AND modest cuts outside of defense spending? Obama with that deal outfoxed the GOP leadership and sealed his legacy. Foreign affairs may yet undo him and his legacy. My taxes will climb sharply soon because of gutless leadership from the GOP and Tea Party. Thanks for nothing. I know this is harsh, but what has the GOP accomplished for those of us who want sharply limited govt? They had leverage with the debt limit and gave us huge tax hikes. That was their deal?

  • Swifty

#23 The Bush tax cuts have expired. What we have now are the Obama tax cuts where, in all of his lack of imagination, Obama copied what Bush did.

  • Joel

Spending, spending and more spending is not and has not been the answer.

California is doomed and the US is right behind them.

You can not continue to give hand-outs to the lazy bastards.

FIND A JOB! Support yourself and your family.

    Cut spending FIRST.

    Seal the border FIRST.

Then we can talk about further accommodations.

Because I DON’T TRUST CONGRESS to do the follow- up afterwards.

Will someone just put a fork in Kristol; he is well done! FOX, if you are listening…take him away and shut him up!

  • http://www.bible-knowledge.com chris

you know what is soooo dang frustrating is saying, its ok to raise tax on millionaires when in fact its 250,000 of income, when did that become millionaire status. not to mention many millionaires get their income from capital gains and not actual income so raising rates dont affect them.

what i would prefer kristol and other rhinos to say is this, lets start with the truly uber wealthy, actors, buffet, gates and ask them to cough up an extra 20% of their actual wealth. i think we can raise more by doing that instead of actually raising rates on incomes of $250k or more.

now i dont agree with any tax but lets just call their bluff and start with taxing dem supporters first. now that would be a nice discussion to start with.

  • Texasps

Hey Bill Kristol… Shut Up! NEVER EVER EVER THINK THAT YOU CAN SPEAK FOR THE TEA PARTY!!!!!!

BK needs to get out of the Beltway bubble and visit Realville sometime….sigh…

  • mg4us

I could support Bill Kristol’s statement for more taxes by taxing ALL those Democratic institutions that support him and his policies so dearly. .as well as RINOs too!

Like Actors, Concert Performers, Sports Players, Hollywood, TV Talking heads, Newspapers, faux-journalists, Goldman Sachs, Bill Gates, and Warren Buffet as well as Unions

I say a sur-tax on all of them and also on their services. . .
bell enjoy a 70% tax and NO WRITE-offs either!!

  • Brian

Ok Billy. Let’s raise the rate to 50%. Then cut spending across the board by 30%(not rate of growth, actual spending). After all,you and others like Jeb(Amnesty)Bush said we should accept a deal that would include 9 dollars in cuts for 1 in new taxes. Hell,I’m not even going close to that far.

  • billypaintbrush

Kristol can go scratch. When he first came on the scene he was the goofy grinning protege of Dan Quayle. Only difference is Quayle is gone.

  • briscuit

I will only support raising taxes on the wealthy if at the same time anyone of any celebrity status in California pays taxes at 85% to 90%. (This includes wine growers such as puglosy).

  • dwdude

media drone…can’t someone punch these people hard in the face already? he and david brooks need to be at the front of the line.

  • Ohio Granny

We are a very active part of a TEA party, and frankly, if the choice was 4 years of Obama or allowing the highest tax rate to go up 4%, still much less than under Reagan!, then do it and take the talking point away from that man. He beat that drum and smart people bought it so let them find out the consequences. If I were Boehner, I would tell every Republican to vote “Present” and let the democrats pass it and live with it.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

“…A lot of Tea Party members don’t care that much if a couple millionaires pay that more in taxes, honestly.”

When exactly was this guy appointed Tea Party spokesman?

  • snewb

Never liked this guy. Eyes always seem to be crying while lips are smiling. Make a good clown at the circus.

  • Toni

The comments above have it right…he does NOT speak for the Tea Party!!! Government gives our money to their friends and people who will not work. Why in the world would I want to give them more? What they don’t give away they waste. I am so sick and tired of all these elites who, I would bet, have never talked to a conservative and certainly not to a Tea Party Patriot. Maybe they should get out of the ivory tower once in awhile and talk to “real” people. I could just scream!!!

  • Godzilla

Well Jr. Kristol and Jim have it all wrong.

I’m tired of throwing out the life preserver to the intolerant liberals. It’s time for some tough love for Democrats and the fools reelecting Obama. Step to the side. Let the Obama-Pelosi-Reid stooges hike marginal rates. It will only increase unemployment levels higher, stagnant economy.

  • BurmaShave

The jerks in the vicinity of the Beltway speak for the jerks in the vicinity of the Beltway, and that’s all.

I can imagine Bill Kristol saying something like “some of my best friends are members of the Tea Party.” Oh really, Bill?

  • BurmaShave

Question: Does Bill use Democrat toilet paper (you know, TP with the US Constitution printed on it)?

  • thomasdecive

although I’m not a big fan of Mr.Kristol……he does raise an interesting point.

The wealthiest counties in the country……voted for Obama.

The NorthEast, Kalifornia and Large Urban centers where there are large concentrations of wealth…..voted for Obama

Why are we wasting our time and resources helping a bunch of LIMO LIBERALS who hate us, and they will continue to hate us AND work against us regardless of what benefits they reap from Republican positions.
    Screw ’em……let….them….feel….it.
You make your bed….then you lay in it.

  • Winston Wolfe

And I’m supposed to give a damn what Bill Kristol says, why?

  • Brian

Bill is a Scoop Jackson Democrat, aka,Neocon. Not surprised.

  • Lucy

KRISTOL SHUT UP!!! You need to retire or become a democrat, Moderates cannot get the votes to win the WhiteHouse. You have a losing trackrecord . you are outdated, spineless, and the leadership needs to stop listening to you. We only lose when they take your advice. Please GO AWAY!!! LOSER!!! You are obnoxious and a hi toned fool.

    Overheard, perfect insight:
Leftist policies never hurt the Wealthy Elitists, they only hurt the Aspiring Ambitious-
so just like a Society that fails to reproduce itself (Western Europe) what will happen?

  • Candy

As I said a long time ago, the communists infiltrate completely… not just the left.

Hence so many false choices for election, lack of concern re: electoral process/voter fraud and lack of a budget/investigations.

Hell, every time I turned around the dems were having hearings during W’s turn. I don’t know how many times just the oil/gas guys were dragged in. I also remember dems turning the lights out on the floor re: drilling/gas prices, because I went to D.C. while it happened.

Anyone here remember the gas commercial spots dems did down the street from the capitol? With many SUVs? It wasn’t two bucks then.

OT, hey, where did all those anti-war folks go, (besides joining flotillas, banning ROTC on campus, pushing ‘free’ contraceptives and otherwise aiding Commies and Islamist)?
