East Coast Shuts Down Ahead of Sandy

Even in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, tropical storm force winds could last over 48 hours!
CBS Local reported:
Hurricane Sandy is a HUGE storm, with a diameter of over 700 miles wide and a tropical storm wind field over 400 miles wide, meaning that it will impact a very large number of people for an extended period of time.
Unlike many storms that move up the coast and are in and out quickly, Sandy will be arriving almost perpendicular to the New Jersey coastline, and then weakening, but dawdling as it moves inland. That means even in Philadelphia and the suburbs, tropical storm force winds could last over 48 hours!
We still have the same expectations of Sandy’s impact:
- 5-10″ of rain with the higher end of that spectrum occurring from the city on south into NJ and DE.
- wind gusts over 60 mph in the city, over 70 mph down the shore.
- major, possibly record, coastal flooding and storm surge in our shore communities.
- widespread power outages and road closures.

I remember the Tsunami that hit Japan and a video that showed an inlet rising with water. It was eerie the way it was just suddenly much higher. The water level just calmly rose straight up rapidly.
Hang in there NJ, PA, NY, DE and everybody…stay away from the rising waters.

Now, when he is humiliated next Tuesday, he’ll have an alibi. All his peeps really WANTED to get out and vote for him, but couldn’t due to the mean, ol’ Republican hurricane.

So, what happens if a power failure prevents us from voting next Tuesday?
I understand that – by ruling of SCOTUS – elections can not be postponed. Will there be an exception made in this case? Won’t that screw up the results big time?

I was in PA last weekend. I saw the number of Romney signs in places around Allentown. Then there is a wide vein of territory from Scranton to Harrisburg that is solid coal mining economy. Obama is relying entirely on Philadelphia and the government workers who live in surrounding suburbs. If its a cold rainy day in Phily Nov 6 , the 47% won’t come outside.

Obama is behind and the storm hampers his vote tamper operations. If it damages the sanctuary cities along the coast of CT, we will pick up the Senate seat there too. People just won’t be in the mood to committ voter fraud . Cleaning out their home of flood waters will be the #1 priority…not saving Obama’s dirty a$$.

While the “evil Romney” is busy campaigning, our Dear Leader is meeting with hurricane victims. HE really cares. Not like Romney (who is already raising money for the hurricane victims…). No, folks, it will be Obama who really cares about folks, who meets with folks, who talks to folks, who cares so deeply about FOLKS…

Does anyone else think this is being over-hyped by the media? There have been many similar storms in the past that the media did NOT cover 24/7 with EXTREME HYSTERIA like this one.
I don’t want to in any way suggest the coastal areas or low-level areas are not at risk, or should not be alerted……but the ENTIRE East Coast shut down?! For some rain and winds that happen during MANY a storm’s aftermath?
Hope I’m wrong – NOT about the storm’s intensity, as I hope NO ONE is hurt or impacted adversely; but rather about the over-hype for some DISTRACTION to cover to avoid the SCANDAL of Benghazi, or the FAIL of O’s campaign. Crying wolf over the weather is DANGEROUS, perhaps even borderline-criminal, because it makes people less likely to listen when there is REAL need.

DinorRightMarie, the storm is hitting the most densely populated area of our Nation. You are correct IMHO that this storm is getting more coverage than most. But, it will also affect more people than most storms.
When weather affects the East Coast the Media in NYNY always hyperventilates. That said if you live even remotely near the storm take prudent precautions. Always have food and clean water and don’t go anywhere unnecessary.
