Nearly six million Americans, most of them in the middle class, will face a tax penalty under Obamacare.
FOX News reported:
Nearly 6 million Americans — most of them in the middle class — will face a tax penalty for not carrying medical coverage once President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul law is fully in place, congressional budget analysts said Wednesday.
The new estimate amounts to an inconvenient fact for the administration, a reminder of what critics see as broken promises.
The numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office are significantly higher than a previous projection by the same office in 2010, shortly after the law passed.
The earlier estimate found 4 million people would be affected. The difference — 2 million people– represents a 50 percent increase.
That’s still only a sliver of the population, given that more than 150 million people currently are covered by employer plans. Nonetheless, in his first campaign for the White House, Obama pledged not to raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 a year and couples making less than $250,000.
And the budget office analysis found that nearly 80 percent of those who’ll face the penalty would be making up to or less than five times the federal poverty level. Currently that would work out to $55,850 or less for an individual and $115,250 or less for a family of four.
Average penalty: about $1,200 in 2016.

According to my Ouija board, 6 million middle-class Americans, times the average Obamacare penalty of $1,200 per, equals $7.2 billion sucked right out of the economy and turned over to the same wonderful people who don’t read the bills they pass, ran up $6 trillion additional debt over the past 3+ years, and who brought us bright, shiny gifts like Solyndra . . . along with so many other wise “investments”.

Our taxes went up last year, because my husband has a second job. Some new obama rule about making under a certain amount a year so the employer does not have to report it. All I know is, we are still trying to pay the federal government by making monthly payments.
I have a question, if anybody knows the answer, I would appreciate it. I tried to look it up online, with no results, maybe I’m just not wording it right. Anyway, what are the ‘classes’… how much income per year is considered low, middle and upper class? Thanks.

what penalty? if the IRS can’t force you to pay the “penalty’ then it means nothing. Hopefully they don’t change that policy, if they do start to force people to pay the penalty then all hell will break loose. Originally they had the authority to throw people in jail who refuse to carry insurance but realized that that was never going to pass.
Either way it does need to be repeal, currently it’s 6 million uninsured but once obamacare kicks in, bussiness will drop coverage on it’s employees and pay the cheaper penalty, so 6 million will grow to at least double that.

Nothing burns me more than freeloading and that is exactly what it is when somebody doesn’t have insurance…gets hurt and then expects society to pay their bills. In fact, that is SOCIALISM to the max.
Obama/Romneycare at least attempts to make people responsible with the fine. If you want to avoid the fine, then buy insurance like everybody I know. The freeloaders make all of our insurance rates go up because people who buy insurance end up paying for the irresponsible freeloaders who think it is fine for their hospital and health costs to be paid for by RESPONSIBLE people.

If you read the entire article, it mentions that the poor will have their government healthcare ‘subsidized’… in other words, it’ll be paid for in full by the suckers who actually work for a living and pay taxes. Hey, why work when you can get your HUD housing for $50 a month in rent, your food stamps, your free cellphone, your free air conditioner (yeah, they were giving them away this summer here in Detroit), your next-to-free subsidized utilities, your Obama-stash cash in the form of the welfare check, and now your totally free totally tax-payer subsidized health care for you and your nine children.

Linda, those freeloaders will still be able to partake of our insurance system free of charge. Those freeloaders, aka illegals for the most part already get free coverage and they are exempt from having to buy insurance. Welfare recipients already have Medicaid. All this does is make people who couldn’t afford insurance before, still not be able to afford insurance and then get walloped at the end of the year with a fine for not doing so.
I don’t know about you, but I have a really nice plan provided 100% by my employer which costs about $12,000 a year. I don’t have $12,000 in my budget to purchase that same plan on my own so I pay a fine and still don’t have insurance, then go to the emergency room for healthcare.
It’s a stupid plan and will continue to a stupid plan.

Linda, if liberal Democrats hadn’t mandated that hospitals had to treat anyone who walked in the door, people wouldn’t be able to freeload, and maybe they would be taking responsibility for their health care today. This is all about personal responsibility. Democrats have been encouraging people to be irresponsible for decades now, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that so many people have become parasites and freeloaders. Programs like Obamacare will only compound the problem …
