AARP Leftists Boo Paul Ryan For Pushing Repeal of Obamacare …(AARP to Make $1 Billion off Obamacare)

Leftists at the annual AARP convention booed Paul Ryan today when he said Obamacare should be repealed.

Why would they boo?
Maybe it’s because AARP stands to make over $1 billion from Obamacare.
From The Speaker’s website:

A new report reveals that AARP stands to make $1 billion over 10 years from ObamaCare, the AARP-backed health care law that funds the creation of a massive new entitlement program at the expense of seniors. Led by Reps. Wally Herger (R-CA), Dave Reichert (R-WA) and Charles Boustany (R-LA), Ways & Means Committee Republicans today unveiled this report – entitled “Behind the Veil: The AARP America Doesn’t Know” – which exposes AARP’s apparent conflict of interests and raises questions about whether the organization is using its tax exempt status to increase profits at the expense of American seniors.

As the Associated Press reports, Republicans turned over the report’s findings to the IRS and have called on the agency to investigate whether AARP’s tax-exempt status should be revoked:

“AARP lobbied for the new health care law and now it stands to profit, Republican lawmakers charged Wednesday as they called for the IRS to investigate whether the powerful interest group deserves to keep its federal tax exemption.

“Three veteran GOP representatives released a report that estimates the seniors lobby could make an additional $1 billion over 10 years on health insurance plans whose sales are expected to pick up under the new law. They also questioned seven-figure compensation for some AARP executives.”

Most Americans agree with Paul Ryan and want Obamacare repealed.

I turned 55 this year and it’ll be a cold day in hell before I ever give AARP a dime and I encourage everyone else reaching retirement age to do the same.

  • old glazier

What a shock. Left-wing group boos conservitive. *yawn*

  • Jenny

Congratulations to Paul for putting up with these loons. I’m a senior and AARP has been fleecing seniors since the 1970’s. I made note of it back then. I’ll never give them a penny.

  • retire05

#1, TrickyDick, you don’t have to join AARP. They probably have already sent you a card with your name on it when you turned 50. There is no joining. AARP is deceitful that they send you a card with your name on it and then count you as a member although you never joined.

Everyone with two grey cells bumping together understood that AARP would benefit handsomely from Obamacare. That is what all the AARP meetings with not just Obama but a number of high ranking Dems was about in the days leading up to the passage of a bill the Congress had to pass before we could learn what was in it.

When AARP sends you something, they inclose a pre-paid envelope. Take everything with your name on it and throw it in the trash, but take the remaining part of their mailer, stick it in the prepaid envelope and mail it back to them. Doesn’t cost them much, but if 5 million people did that, it would cost them enough to hit them.

I would NEVER join AARP. Liberal hacks!

  • iamsaved

Read the monthly articles from AARP and it doesn’t take long to see their primary business is selling insurance while telling you they really care for the seniors. Sure, they throw the retirees a 10% discount on hotels but one can get that anyway if you ask.

AARP is just another liberal organization hiding behind innocent sounding platitudes.

Collectivists LOVE their delusions, and will defend them to the death!

Which is why there is no possible “middle ground”.

    AARP is a racket.

    Older but remember this:

    The left-wing mortgage counseling racket

borrowers are being left adrift with no one to turn to for information.

As I’ve pointed out several times over the past year, mortgage counseling is a thriving racket that benefits far Left groups ranging from the AARP to ACORN to La Raza and Legal Aid. The Department of Housing and Urban Development funds hundreds, if not thousands, of these groups across the country. In October, HUD announced more than $44 million in new housing counseling grants to over 400 state and local efforts. The White House has increased funding for housing counseling by 150 percent since taking office in 2001.

Here’s a list (PDF) of national, regional, state, and local housing counseling grantees for fiscal year 2007–all of whom presumably were in operation when subprime borrowers got into the current mess. Among the major recipients:

*The AARP scored nearly $400,000 for training.

*The National Council of La Raza scooped up more than $1.3 million.

*The National Urban League raked in nearly $1 million.

*ACORN Housing Corporation received more than $1.6 million.

A full list of grantee profiles is here (PDF). A small sample: go here for more. VIEW IMAGE

retire05, EXACTLY! That’s what I do, and I’ve almost gotten to the point where I look forward to calling them (on their 800 number which they have to pay for!) and telling them exactly why I won’t join their leftist organization.

I can confirm that the actual postage for the cost to return a postage-paid reply envelope is charged to the permit holder, plus the standard fee to process it (about 70 cents per envelope). So mail away, kids!

  • Joe Blow

We have nothing to do with AARP but a couple of “old” friends are members and have their extra medical insurance through them. We cannot convince them that AARP is tied in with the Democrats and Obama, especially pushing the vote for Obamacare. They just won’t hear it.

  • The AARP was hijacked by the democratic party decades ago. they have been conning senior citizens ever since. their primary purpose is not to help seniors but to help the democtatic party.

  • Righteous_Dude

Exactly correct characterization. You see the Medicare advantage ads…”the only plan endorsed by AARP.”

Each time AARP send me their pre paid envelopes to join, I send them a nice note back telling them that they screwed seniors by promoting Obamacare. There needs to be a nationwide boycott of AARP… NOW!

  • Redwine

Why would Ryan speak at the AARP convention? Didn’t he know that they’re in tight with the regime and support Medicare-killer O-Tax? It’s not good or helpful for R&R to choose to speak to such groups and organizations.

AARP keeps sending me junk mail. The stuff goes right in the trash. Not a penny to that scam organization – and certainly nothing to any company that’s cozy with the regime and the unions.

  • Dick Fancy

“Most Americans agree with Paul Ryan and want Obamacare repealed.”

Yeah, until you actually tell them what’s in it. Once you wipe away the lies trumpeted by the Republicans, people think it’s a good program.

  • GotFreedom

Obviously they “stacked” the audience to protect their profits. . . America’s “seasoned citizens” need to wake up and realize that they are being “duped” by AARP!

  • neverends

My husband & I belonged to aarp BEFORE they came out for ObamaCare. As soon as they endorsed that farce, I called and cancelled so that I would have the opportunity to let them know why I was cancelling. They lost over 300,000 members as a result of that sell-out and they are still trying to recover. Notice all the ads they run on TV & radio to try and regain some semblence of credibility. It hasn’t and won’t work!

They continually push their “insurance” and the company that they push is the very one that will make all the money as a result of Ocare – United Healthcare. Interestingly enough, United is also the company that runs all the “insurance exchanges” at the State level. No coincidence!!!

  • Militant Catholic

Why in hell is Ryan speaking at AARP anyway? What possible benefit could he get from doing so? If I were his handler, I’d never let him into that viper’s nest.

  • Ragspierre

#18 Ryan spoke to the AARP Collective BECAUSE it would get press coverage.

Question: has the Romney campaign been sitting at home…

or have you NOT heard of what it was doing in the Mushroom Media?

How AARP was Bought and Paid for by Obama

AARP dutifully complied, and their pressure – along with the corrupt Cornhusker Kickback, convinced Ben Nelson to put the bill over the top.

Why did AARP ignore the overwhelming opposition among seniors, calls from their own members running 14-1 against, and emotional town hall confrontations all over the country?

AARP is in the business of selling insurance, and their offerings were uniquely well-positioned to benefit from the bill, because the steep cuts to Medicare Advantage would force beneficiaries into traditional fee-for-service Medicare, making them potential customers for AARP’s Medigap policies.

An investigative report from the House Ways and Means Committee found: “The Democrats’ health care law, which AARP strongly endorsed, could result in a windfall for AARP that exceeds over $1 billion during the next 10 years.”
That’s a billion reasons for AARP to betray seniors and support Obama’s bill.

The report found that while AARP offers a Medicare Advantage plan through United Healthcare, it does so under a flat-fee licensing agreement that would give the company the same revenue even following savage cuts to Medicare Advantage.

Its Medigap policies, on the other hand, are its biggest cash cow and AARP makes money with every policy sold. It was a win-win for AARP’s bottom line, but at a devastating cost to the seniors it pretends to represent.

Sweetening the deal for AARP, the bill created a special, AARP-specific carve-out exempting its Medigap policies from the rate regulations applied to its competitors.

All the conservatives bailed out of aarp when they went in the tank for obamcare. They realized their dues were going to an organization that went against their own interests. All they have left is the ignorant and liberals. Ryan was talking to a very hostile group.

  • Patty

Boycott this company, PLEASE. Here is another option.

if you aren’t sure who i meant to boycott, it is AARP

    Obamacare, Obamaflag, OBAMAMERICA.

  • Finncrisp

Hate to say it, but AARP is just another leftist group. These comrades have been against the people they represent for some time. Fisrt major break was when they demonized Bush for trying to fix social security. Now they are at the trough while Medicare goes down in flames.

    Losers all.

  • Amash

AARP is just another corrupt arm of the government. They were and still are in bed with Owebama and the drug companies to help get funds for them And Owebama care passed for Owebama. They care only about their finances, not the fools who send them dues.

  • chuck in st paul

AARP was taken over several decades ago by (at the time) a bunch of thirty-something leftists. Somehow a strategy evolved to do this to places of money and influence like charities and trusts. They now control billions of dollars and thousands of minds. In many cases the folks who created the money would have a heart attack if they knew what was being done with it.

When we turn off the flow of cash our corrupt government is pouring into the AARP and ya’all go south, don’t cry that we didn’t first try to work with you.

Same goes for NPR. You could have moderated. Hell, the Juan Williams fiasco was a perfect excuse to have corrupt heads roll and clean house. Instead you doubled down.

Reality is gonna be a bitch for these rotten-to-the-core liberal institutions. It will be much like the collapse of the Soviet Union.

FYI: The black CEO of AARP, Barry (aka “barack”) Rand has been a frequent guest in the OBOZO White House. He has donated thousands to the OBOZO campaign. He ignored the best interests of seniors to back OBOZOCARE / OBOZOTAX for AARP’s (and his own) PROFIT.
AARP = an organization to be shunned and ignored by all responsible Americans until it gets responsible leadership.

Mailed my card back with a note to remove my name, have got nothing from them since. A co-worker of mine told me she the AARP cancelled her insurance with them because of a recent change in her medical condition. It wasn’t like she had a million dollar policy. It was a $10, 000.00 policy so her family could bury her. But, she is going to hang on with them so she can get that 10% hotel discount. Stupid!

AAR, The league of Women’s Voters, PBS, Public Radio, Planned Parenthood have long ago been infested with progs. They have in my opinion become nothing more than willing prostitutes for the Liberal agenda.

    What wrong?

These old ARRP people are dependent on government hand-outs and will be enriched by 0bamaCare. They are paid to boo.

I can’t let my crappy 0bamaCare and the thousands of 0bamaCare Waivers be tossed in the trash can like so many of my other crappy laws.

No, I will not be joining 0bamaCare because it sucks. It’s designed to buy votes for my cronies. I cannot answer any more questions. Good day.

  • west1890

It is with great pleasure that I rip up and throw away every solicitation that AARP sends me. Any senior that supports them should have a mandatory senility test. A few months ago an insurance agent changed the Medicare Advantage insurance carriers of around 1000 seniors in my area, without their permission or knowledge, from their carrier of choice to the AARP carrier. Took most of us quite a while and a lot of phone calls to get it changed back and the only notification that we got was the “Welcome to” letter from the AARP carrier. There’s something wrong with a system that allows an insurance agent to commit that level of fraud and the victims don’t even know what’s been done to them until they get the “Welcome” letter from the company they’ve been moved to.

Another excellent choice that is advertised on Marl Levin’s show is AMAC
The Association of Mature American Citizens. .a conservative group

Time for half of the country to stop their AARP contributions. . .
Plus AMAC is offering a special 5 year option to join. . .very reasonable. .

Time to support organizations and folks that believe in the same America as we do. . .

  • mg4us

In a former life a few years back went to AARP to seek their support and help to reach out to members on an important health issue. .

    The result. . crickets. . .

AARP is all about money and a bloated bureaucracy.

Go down and see them. .they look like a branch of the government. . and act like one too.

And yes, the leftists zealots have highjacked it like they did the Democratic Party

I would boo him too if he talked so much about dismantling programs without touching that SACRED COW, the Defense Industry. Hypocrisy is the order of the day until he’ll deal with that profligate mindset.
