FAIL. Unemployment Rate Above 8.0% for 43rd Straight Month – 368,000 Drop Out of Workforce

Unemployment remains above 8.0%.
Lowest unemployment rate during Obama term was his first month in office.

Unemployment rate drops ONLY because more people quit looking for work.
368,000 Americans left the labor force.

This is devastating news for the Obama White House.
The AP reported:

U.S. employers added 96,000 jobs last month, a weak figure that could slow any momentum President Barack Obama hoped to gain from his speech to the Democratic National Convention.

The unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July, the Labor Department said Friday. But that was only because more people gave up looking for work. The government only counts people as unemployed if they are actively searching.

The government also said 41,000 fewer jobs were created in July and June than first estimated. The economy has added just 139,000 jobs a month since the beginning of the year, below 2011’s average of 153,000.

Dow Jones industrial futures, which had been up before the report, fell soon after it was released.

Heck of a job, Barry.

The youth unemployment rate for 18-29 year olds specifically for August 2012 is 12.7 percent (NSA).

Workforce participation rate for men 69.9% – lowest since 1948…

Im shocked. You mean obamas soaring lies and grsnholms freakshow didnt create jobs ?

  • Granny

“. . . fell to 8.1 from 8.3 percent” – until week after next or next month when they revise those figures upwards. AGAIN.

  • Eddie Baby

So how many people dropped out of the workforce to get the unemployment rate to drop down to 8.1% from 8.3%? I know the 96k jobs shouldn’t put a dent in the unemployment rate. You know it will be down to 7.9% for October. Not that too many jobs will be added, but less people will be included in the workforce.

  • SoLongSong

I HATE that the media will spin this in a positive light.

  • pjean

368,000 decided to leave the job market. That’s pitiful. As a percentage of the population, fewer people are working than ever before. Four more years? Really?

  • Robodog7

Those numbers are as phony as his Greek Columns were in 2008. They will gin up the numbers until they are down to 7.8% by Nov. 6th. There were fewer jobs created in August than in July, and yet the rate magically drops .2%?

“Hey Rocky, watch me pull some numbers out of my arse.”

  • Granny

Thirty year LOW in the Workforce participation rate! And the numbers for June and July were revised fairly drastically –

  • Robodog7

They couldn’t release the real numbers the morning after Choombama’s big night, after all, this is the party of lies.

  • Granny

Robodog7 – the numbers magically dropped because huge numbers of people left the work force and are no longer counted.

“Know this, America: Our problems can be solved,” he told thousands of delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. “Our challenges can be met. The path we offer may be harder, but it leads to a better place. And I’m asking you to choose that future.”

Yes Our Problems CAN BE SOLVED when we get rid of YOU
Yes Our Problems CAN BE SOLVED when we Vote Romney/Ryan
    YES WE CAN choose that Future by VOTING R&R – – Romney/Ryan — Republ-I-CAN

And You knew last Night the details of the Jobs Report you INCOMPETENT, INEPT POS:

8.1% (really over 13%, , , ,And you and Clinton say Arithmetic)
+96,000 new Jobs (which will be revised downward in a month or two like they usually do)
FED SET TO PUMP (and devalue the dollar some more; Hello $5/gal gas)
368,000 DROPPED OUT OF WORKFORCE (And soon You, Biden and your miscreant lot)

HOPE Biden’s HISTORY’s HINGE hits you on the behind on your way out. . Time for CHANGE!

    #9, just pathetic.

This failure pleaded for 4 more years last night. We would need 400 years under the failed policies of Obama.

I stated last night that I had to wonder why Obama’s speech last night was so lame, flat and just plain bad. He knew what these numbers were and its like they almost took his wind away.

Obama talks about the failed polices of the past with the GOP.

Kick the loser out of office for the sake of America.

I know, 368,000 people dropped out of the work force in August, any bets on how many end up on the Social Security Disablity rolls while the getting is good? Once Choombama is out of office it should be more difficult.

Unemployment fell from 8.3% to 8.1%? I wonder if they used Gallup to poll that data. Gallup has become as suspect as the climate scare scientists after fudging their data to get their desired outcome.

  • bill mitchell

Wow. Even MSNBC and CNN aren’t trying to spin these numbers. The verdict on both sites – terrible. Amazing how this happened a day after their convention ended to knock off any glow they might have enjoyed.

  • bill mitchell

Wanna know why Intrade is such BS? Horrible jobs numbers this morning and no effect at all.

  • Joe Q

The numers are worse that the 96K missing expectation and the 368K that just left the work force.

The June and July numbers were adjusted down.

But job reports for June and July were revised lower. The June count fell from 64,000 to 45,000, while July’s number came in at 141,000 from an originally reported 163,000.

    Spin that Obama.

IMPO, i think we are going to see the needle move in the polls after bad Obama speech, Dems saying no to God and poor jobs numbers.

  • Jack

How many will drop out of the work force next month to get the figure down to 7.9? I really thought the BLS would start manipulating the numbers about 4 months ago. Of course the jobs created number will be revised next week but the unemployment rate won’t change.

That is because the Obama Regime took them to the woodshed over polling data that wasn’t in TheWon’s favor and when they refused to change the way they did their polling to improve Obama’s numbers they almost immediately had the “Justice” Department threaten to file charges against them.

So – Gallup is no longer to be believed at all. Fruit from a poisoned well. And it certainly begs the question “are the other pollsters, the ones who are favorable to TheBigZero, rigging their polls too to avoid a similar fate?”
