Mark Alan Siegel, Palm Beach County Democrat Chairman, makes some rather anti-Christian remarks at the DNC.

“I’m Jewish. I’m not a fan of any religion except Judaism. The Christians just want us to be there so we all can be slaughtered and converted so we can bring on the second coming of Jesus Christ. They’re not our friends. They want Israel to pursue policies that are antithetical with its security and existence. The worst possible allies of the Jewish State are the fundamentalist Christians who want Jews to die and convert so they can bring on the second coming of their Lord. It is a false friendship. They are seeking their own ends and not ours.”

    There do seem to be fundamentalist Christians whose support for Israel stems more from their interpretations of Revelation than any affection or respect for the Jewish religion and its followers. They are a small portion of the Christian faith but they seem to be real to me. I’ve also seen a tinge of this kind of thing — Israel as a Christian mascot — in more mainstream writing; Cal Thomas comes to mind.
    Of course embracing Muslims, Communists and others who are outright anti-Jewish hardly seems like an answer to this situation.
    #8: According to the teaching of the Latter Day Saints, yes, you can convert after death. This is the basis for proxy baptism. That seems odd to me but either it works or it’s harmless. I can believe the Mormons are mistaken on this without condemning them as a body.
