In early July the DCCC claimed that Sheldon Adelson was involved in some kind of Chinese prostitution strategy. They later retracted their statements after Adelson threatened to sue them.

The Holder Justice Department is investigating the Las Vegas Sands Corporation whose owner Sheldon Adelson is a top Romney donor.
The LA Times reported:
The Justice Department is investigating whether Las Vegas Sands Corp., owned by high-profile Republican donor Sheldon Adelson, broke federal law by failing to report millions of dollars of potentially laundered money transferred to its casinos by two high-rolling Las Vegas gamblers, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles is investigating deposits made in the mid-2000s by a Mexican pharmaceutical businessman, later indicted for drug trafficking in 2007, and a California executive with Fry’s Electronics, who later pleaded guilty to taking illegal kickbacks, the newspaper said, citing lawyers and federal officials working on the case.
The Journal said there were no indications that the investigation included actions by Adelson, Sands’ chief executive and a major political donor for the Republican Party. Adelson has pledged to spend as much as $100 million to help Republican candidates in this election cycle.
Federal investigators have begun focusing on casinos amid concerns that the industry’s lax financial systems could be used for money laundering and other illegal activities, according to Justice Department officials cited by the Journal.

I[d like an investigation – after 20 Jan – on who was behind and enabled this kind of non-sense. I don’t mean Holder or Obama, I’m talking about the idiots in the trenches who seem to think that “I was just following orders” is a legitamite excuse. I’d also like to see an investigation of any Contracting Officer who signed off on most of the spending that didn’t go through competition of any sort. There is a LOT of low level chaff that needs cleaning out.

Flashback: Questions Harry Reid won’t answer, part I
[All of these baseless, evidence-free accusations from Harry Reid against Mitt Romney over his income reminded me of something — Reid has a lot of unanswered questions about his own income, questions that the LA Times and others have been asking for years. In 2006 and 2007, a number of questions arose about Reid’s wealth in real estate, his ties to contributors, and his involvement in legislation that benefited all of the above. At that time, I blogged at Captain’s Quarters and wrote quite a bit about the probes into Reid’s finances, which have mainly drifted out of memory. As long as Reid wants to talk about income and wealth, though, why not revisit these posts?
