The government has expanded its free lunch program. Three million children now receive prepared meals all year long. And you get to pay for it. It’s part of Obama’s plan to reshape America.
Via FOX News:

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), provides three million low-income children with free, nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session.
So, where are the parents?

    If they are being provided with lunches elsewhere, the food stamp allotment should be reduced. We are paying twice for the same individual to eat one meal.

    It’s just more nanny state redistribution. The GOP won’t be caught dead decrying this latest outrage. It’s all “for the children” don’t ya’ know…….GOP can’t be seen as Uncle Scrooge taking food out of the mouths of babes. Poor babes whose mothers buy food w/ food stamps and put the food in a new BMW. Another day, another outrage. The country is very weary of this.

    I have a copy. I look and look, but nowhere can I find an authorization to take money from one citizen and give it to another. I guess I’m just not nuanced enough.

    What ever happened to parental responsibility? Buying a jar of peanut butter and jelly is too much to ask? We cant have that? Even with the generous gifts (entitlements) of food stamps, parents cant even give the basics of life to their kids? Other people have to do that for them?

    Then they should be taken away. We need to open up good old fashioned orphanages, and put the parents in jail until they either grow up and take care of their own or give them up forever. I am not responsible for their creations. I dont want to pay for them.

    As I have said for years..The democrats punish success and reward failure.

    They need to start of with the mothers who have kids they cant afford…. If you cant afford them..dont have them. If you are on welfare and get pregnant..you get half the money you got before not double. Otherwise you can give it up for adoption.

    Its time more people started carrying their own load here before they shove Obamataxcare up our @ss.

    What does this have to do with Obama? The Summer Food Service Program was started as a pilot in 1968 and has been around as a permanent program since 1975. It was expanded in both 2001 and 2004. I have seen no indication that children of people making $250k are using the program, nor any statistic indicating that 3 million children are using it.

    For what it’s worth, at $2/meal and 3 million kids using it per day (I’m certain it’s not that many, not every day), the entire program would cost $450 million; or about 1/4 of what we spend in Afghanistan in a week.

    At the end of a street that connects to the main throughfare in my small town is an EZ-Up canopy (tent) with a sign that reads:

    FREE LUNCH FOR ALL 18 AND UNDER

    I stopped and asked what was the restrictions and was told “There are none.” Any kid, 18 and under, can get a free lunch and no proof of age is required. So a young soldier, with a tour in Afghanistan/Iraq who has yet to reach his 19th birthday, can go get a free lunch.

    What is next? Free breakfast as well as free supper? Why bother with food stamps. Just buy a bunch of EZ-Ups, set them up on a well trafficed street and hand out meals to anyone who wants one, no proof of need required.

    Perhaps that is not such a bad idea because from what I have seen, the meals are healty, and don’t include a bunch of junk food like I see in the grocery baskets of those who pay for their groceries with a Lone Star card. Just end the food stamp card and provide means.

    The implementation of the Communist Manifesto is alive and well.

    All these types of programs do is teach parents that they don’t have to be responsible adults and provide for their children. But… but… it’s “for the children.” Hardly. It’s for politicians who want to buy votes showing how “compassionate” they are. Friends of mine who work in the schools know the full story. They see the kids coming in for their free meals every day. My friends will then see the same kids’ parents out at Wal Mart buying an $800 TV or at a local bar tossing down a few.

    Who said they were nutrious? Are the kids eating the nutrious stuff…. or throwing it out and just eating what they want?

    My family pays for their OWN food at considerable cost. What’s next? give them free cell phones, free internet? Oh right — they already get that.

    I wonder what their daddies be saying about havin’ to take a govt handout…. and money out of my hand and into their mouths.
