Axelrod on Romney: “I’m Not Suggesting… He’s Done Anything Illegal” …(But We’re Not Going to Apologize For Calling Mitt a Felon)

Top Obama adviser David Axelrod had this to say about Mitt Romney on CNN’s State of the Union today:

I’m not suggesting that based on what we know, that he’s done anything illegal… I am suggesting is that he’s taken advantage of every single conceivable tax shelter and loophole that we can see.”

Despite this, the Obama Campaign told reporters they will not apologize for calling Mitt Romney a felon.

Obama Campaign Backs Off ‘Felony’ Charge. Ed Rendell.

NY Times: Obama Gets a Pass on Claim That Romney Is a ‘Felon’ VIEW IMAGE

That accusation was conveniently left out of the story.

This accusation is one of the most scurrilous of the campaign thus far. This should shock anyone claiming they want a serious discussion of the issues during this campaign, because the claim that Romney is a “felon” is either based on total ignorance of securities law, or, worse, a simple desire of team Obama to lie through their teeth.

Romney’s camp has rightfully complained that Obama’s campaign spokesmen and staff are out of control with these “felon” lies, but few Old Media outlets are running that part of the story, preferring instead to focus on the easily proven lies that the Boston Globe story once again kicked up.

But the fact is Mitt Romney committed no SEC violations or any felonies when he left Bain in 1999.

[…]Sadly, while The Times keeps spinning Obama’s narrative for him, they are allowing the truth to go unreported.

Is This SEC Document The Hardest One For Romney To Explain?

Excerpted from Buzz Feed: With the Romney campaign aggressively pushing back against reports that the candidate’s tenure at Bain Capital lasted longer than he once claimed, one 2000 document filed by Romney could prove particularly difficult to explain away. Among other things the Jan. 3 2000 SEC filing says, “W. Mitt Romney is principally engaged in the business of serving as sole stockholder of BCI VI, Inc. (Bain Capital Investors VI)” — and it contains his signature. That stands in contrast with various financial disclosure forms filed by Romney in recent years claiming that he left the company entirely to run the Salt Lake City Olympics in 1999.

H/T James Carter, who sent the document to BuzzFeed.

This is how the left smear. They plant a seed by using a word or series of inflammatory accusations.

They know the hyperbolic word will plant in the listener and create mental images and attitudes concerning the accused. That’s all it takes!

Now the reputation of the accused is tarnished. This kind of slander is akin to murder in the Bible. It kills a persons reputation which is really all we have when all is said and done.
PURE EVIL. They throw words around and know it will destroy the mind of the hearer and the accused. I loathe these people.

Truth will always win and I pray that truth will find its way to the surface in time.

This is a deliberate move by the Obama campaign, to inoculate Barack Obama against charges that he’s an unconvicted felon. This is now they operate.

Remember, the Obama campaign also accused John McCain of being unqualified to run for president, and demanded his citizenship papers. After that, all the newsies treated any suggestion that Barack Obama also supply his citizenship papers as old, expected news. After the Obama campaign had made the suggestion against McCain, it was simply no surprise that the same accusation would surface against him. It no longer had the feel of “man bites dog” — so they chose to ignore it.

I think that Mitt’s handling this well, assuming that his actual responses, as opposed to MSNBC’s rewriting of his responses, actually penetrates to the voters.

I’m glad to see that Breitbart, PJ Media, and director blue are paying attention to this. We need our aggregators to call our “news” outlets on their poor quality product.

they did a great job presenting the truth..

    [The Bottom Line

I readily concede that the years 1999-2002
represent a gray period in Romney’s background.

The SEC documents, especially the ones Romney signed, do raise
some questions. One could suggest that because Romney did not
fully extricate himself from Bain until after his Olympic sojourn ended,
he should bear some responsibility for what happened at Bain in
these years. You could even say he hired the people who made
    these mistakes.

But that is entirely different from suggesting that he had a direct role in
these suspect transactions — as Obama’s ads claim — or that the SEC
documents open Romney up to civil or even potential criminal investigation,
as the Obama campaign has charged.

I will continue to evaluate the claims made by each campaign on a case
-by-case basis. If new evidence emerges showing Romney had a direct
involvement in suspect transactions, that certainly would become part
    of the evaluation.]

vs them more or less chasing ghosts, where’s the reporting on this??

The Hypocrisy of Obama’s Bain Bundler (#1)

As Katrina reports, Mitt Romney left Bain Capital in 1999 to manage the Winter Olympics, two years before GST Steel declared bankruptcy. But that hasn’t stopped President Obama from blaming him for the company’s 2001 collapse. In a new Obama campaign video, ex-steel workers criticize Romney for being “out of touch” with the “average working person.” Left unmentioned (and blameless) is Jonathan Lavine.

Lavine, according to the Los Angeles Times, is a top Obama bundler and a managing director at Bain Capital. Lavine, who has raised over $100,000 for the president, was at the firm when GST Steel declared bankruptcy. So according to the Obama team’s logic, Romney, who had left Bain, is responsible for GST Steel’s demise, but Lavine, who was there, is not? Expect to hear more about this connection.

‘Forward!’ with Obama, Axelrod, Jarrett and Frank Marshall Davis

Finally, we cannot ignore the David Axelrod factor. Axelrod is Obama’s chief campaign strategist, who specializes in sloganeering. Axelrod coined the “hope and change” slogan in 2008, and surely devised “Forward!” in 2012.

Well, Axelrod is likewise a product of this Chicago world, including (to some degree) the communist influences. Axelrod was mentored by David Canter. David and his father, Harry, were part of Chicago’s communist orbit. Harry had been secretary of Boston’s Communist Party, and both father and son spent the 1930s in Moscow, where Harry he worked for the Soviet government as a translator of Lenin’s writings. Harry was among the small group that purchased the Chicago Star from Frank Marshall Davis in September 1948. Harry was familiar to Star readers. Among other instances, he appeared in the April 28, 1947 edition, wishing “May Day Greetings” to fellow comrades. Davis would have joined Harry at that May Day parade in Chicago. Davis editorialized in support of the 1947 May Day.

Both Harry and David Canter, like Davis, worked in the communist publishing world. In fact, David Canter worked with Frank Marshall Davis — and also with Vernon Jarrett, Valerie Jarrett’s father-in-law — as a writer for the communist-controlled Packinghouse Workers Union.

Crazy, isn’t it? Yes, totally, but it’s true. You can’t make this up.

Anyway, all of these comrades were familiar with slogans like “Forward!”

Moreover, Obama and Axelrod are geniuses at coming up with words and phrases that seem vague and benign to the larger population — especially to the ignorant independents/moderates who elected Obama in 2008 — but which resonate with a hard left that understands the deeper meaning completely. That was certainly true for the “change” slogan. Those of us savvy to this stuff know the underlying message in “change.” We interpret it the way that progressives and Fabian socialists and, yes, communists, understand it.

If Obama and Axelrod spent a lot of time with these Chicago influences and circles, they could have easily picked up the slogan “Forward!”

Either way, the “fundamental transformation” of America continues, compliments of the oblivious Americans who elected this political insanity in November 2008.
