Axelrod on Romney: “I’m Not Suggesting… He’s Done Anything Illegal” …(But We’re Not Going to Apologize For Calling Mitt a Felon)

Top Obama adviser David Axelrod had this to say about Mitt Romney on CNN’s State of the Union today:

I’m not suggesting that based on what we know, that he’s done anything illegal… I am suggesting is that he’s taken advantage of every single conceivable tax shelter and loophole that we can see.”

Despite this, the Obama Campaign told reporters they will not apologize for calling Mitt Romney a felon.

Obama Campaign Backs Off ‘Felony’ Charge. Ed Rendell.

NY Times: Obama Gets a Pass on Claim That Romney Is a ‘Felon’ VIEW IMAGE

That accusation was conveniently left out of the story.

This accusation is one of the most scurrilous of the campaign thus far. This should shock anyone claiming they want a serious discussion of the issues during this campaign, because the claim that Romney is a “felon” is either based on total ignorance of securities law, or, worse, a simple desire of team Obama to lie through their teeth.

Romney’s camp has rightfully complained that Obama’s campaign spokesmen and staff are out of control with these “felon” lies, but few Old Media outlets are running that part of the story, preferring instead to focus on the easily proven lies that the Boston Globe story once again kicked up.

But the fact is Mitt Romney committed no SEC violations or any felonies when he left Bain in 1999.

[…]Sadly, while The Times keeps spinning Obama’s narrative for him, they are allowing the truth to go unreported.

Is This SEC Document The Hardest One For Romney To Explain?

Excerpted from Buzz Feed: With the Romney campaign aggressively pushing back against reports that the candidate’s tenure at Bain Capital lasted longer than he once claimed, one 2000 document filed by Romney could prove particularly difficult to explain away. Among other things the Jan. 3 2000 SEC filing says, “W. Mitt Romney is principally engaged in the business of serving as sole stockholder of BCI VI, Inc. (Bain Capital Investors VI)” — and it contains his signature. That stands in contrast with various financial disclosure forms filed by Romney in recent years claiming that he left the company entirely to run the Salt Lake City Olympics in 1999.

H/T James Carter, who sent the document to BuzzFeed.

This is how the left smear. They plant a seed by using a word or series of inflammatory accusations.

They know the hyperbolic word will plant in the listener and create mental images and attitudes concerning the accused. That’s all it takes!

Now the reputation of the accused is tarnished. This kind of slander is akin to murder in the Bible. It kills a persons reputation which is really all we have when all is said and done.
PURE EVIL. They throw words around and know it will destroy the mind of the hearer and the accused. I loathe these people.

Truth will always win and I pray that truth will find its way to the surface in time.

This is a deliberate move by the Obama campaign, to inoculate Barack Obama against charges that he’s an unconvicted felon. This is now they operate.

Remember, the Obama campaign also accused John McCain of being unqualified to run for president, and demanded his citizenship papers. After that, all the newsies treated any suggestion that Barack Obama also supply his citizenship papers as old, expected news. After the Obama campaign had made the suggestion against McCain, it was simply no surprise that the same accusation would surface against him. It no longer had the feel of “man bites dog” — so they chose to ignore it.

I think that Mitt’s handling this well, assuming that his actual responses, as opposed to MSNBC’s rewriting of his responses, actually penetrates to the voters.

I’m glad to see that Breitbart, PJ Media, and director blue are paying attention to this. We need our aggregators to call our “news” outlets on their poor quality product.

they did a great job presenting the truth..

    [The Bottom Line

I readily concede that the years 1999-2002
represent a gray period in Romney’s background.

The SEC documents, especially the ones Romney signed, do raise
some questions. One could suggest that because Romney did not
fully extricate himself from Bain until after his Olympic sojourn ended,
he should bear some responsibility for what happened at Bain in
these years. You could even say he hired the people who made
    these mistakes.

But that is entirely different from suggesting that he had a direct role in
these suspect transactions — as Obama’s ads claim — or that the SEC
documents open Romney up to civil or even potential criminal investigation,
as the Obama campaign has charged.

I will continue to evaluate the claims made by each campaign on a case
-by-case basis. If new evidence emerges showing Romney had a direct
involvement in suspect transactions, that certainly would become part
    of the evaluation.]

vs them more or less chasing ghosts, where’s the reporting on this??

The Hypocrisy of Obama’s Bain Bundler (#1)

As Katrina reports, Mitt Romney left Bain Capital in 1999 to manage the Winter Olympics, two years before GST Steel declared bankruptcy. But that hasn’t stopped President Obama from blaming him for the company’s 2001 collapse. In a new Obama campaign video, ex-steel workers criticize Romney for being “out of touch” with the “average working person.” Left unmentioned (and blameless) is Jonathan Lavine.

Lavine, according to the Los Angeles Times, is a top Obama bundler and a managing director at Bain Capital. Lavine, who has raised over $100,000 for the president, was at the firm when GST Steel declared bankruptcy. So according to the Obama team’s logic, Romney, who had left Bain, is responsible for GST Steel’s demise, but Lavine, who was there, is not? Expect to hear more about this connection.

‘Forward!’ with Obama, Axelrod, Jarrett and Frank Marshall Davis

Finally, we cannot ignore the David Axelrod factor. Axelrod is Obama’s chief campaign strategist, who specializes in sloganeering. Axelrod coined the “hope and change” slogan in 2008, and surely devised “Forward!” in 2012.

Well, Axelrod is likewise a product of this Chicago world, including (to some degree) the communist influences. Axelrod was mentored by David Canter. David and his father, Harry, were part of Chicago’s communist orbit. Harry had been secretary of Boston’s Communist Party, and both father and son spent the 1930s in Moscow, where Harry he worked for the Soviet government as a translator of Lenin’s writings. Harry was among the small group that purchased the Chicago Star from Frank Marshall Davis in September 1948. Harry was familiar to Star readers. Among other instances, he appeared in the April 28, 1947 edition, wishing “May Day Greetings” to fellow comrades. Davis would have joined Harry at that May Day parade in Chicago. Davis editorialized in support of the 1947 May Day.

Both Harry and David Canter, like Davis, worked in the communist publishing world. In fact, David Canter worked with Frank Marshall Davis — and also with Vernon Jarrett, Valerie Jarrett’s father-in-law — as a writer for the communist-controlled Packinghouse Workers Union.

Crazy, isn’t it? Yes, totally, but it’s true. You can’t make this up.

Anyway, all of these comrades were familiar with slogans like “Forward!”

Moreover, Obama and Axelrod are geniuses at coming up with words and phrases that seem vague and benign to the larger population — especially to the ignorant independents/moderates who elected Obama in 2008 — but which resonate with a hard left that understands the deeper meaning completely. That was certainly true for the “change” slogan. Those of us savvy to this stuff know the underlying message in “change.” We interpret it the way that progressives and Fabian socialists and, yes, communists, understand it.

If Obama and Axelrod spent a lot of time with these Chicago influences and circles, they could have easily picked up the slogan “Forward!”

Either way, the “fundamental transformation” of America continues, compliments of the oblivious Americans who elected this political insanity in November 2008.

I find it interesting that they are hammering at this so early in the campaign. Seems to me it would be more effective closer to election before the opposition had much time to refute it with the truth. I think they are truly worried Romney will win the election. My theory is they are trying to make Romney appear too damaged before the republican convention thinking the GOP will blink and end up nominating someone else. Of course, there is always the shadow of Romneycare lurking overhead for them to fall back on if this doesn’t work.

BREAKING: David Axelrod Endorses Mitt Romney for President

Sunday, April 15th at 12:54PM EDT 3 mos. ago, this:

Breaking news with a hat tip to Kevin Eder for highlighting it for me:

David Axelrod, Chief Strategist for President Barack Obama, endorsed Mitt Romney for President on Fox News Sunday this morning. He told Chris Wallace, “The choice in this election is between an economy that produces a growing middle class and that gives people a chance to get ahead and their kids a chance to get ahead and an economy that continues down the road we’re on.”

That is precisely right and precisely what Mitt Romney’s campaign has been telling people. Good to see David Axelrod agrees.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. You can see for yourself right here.

The Romney campaign needs to stop being reactive and start going on the offensive. Just because Alinsky wrote his “rules” as a tool for the Left, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be used by the Right – even by “moderates”. Romney really needs to use the tactics against the Fraudulent One that he used against Santorum and Gingrich. There’s absolutely no need for “civility” when you’re combating a regime of thugs who will anything and everything to hold onto and expand power.

Outsourced: Obama Campaign Raises Money in China–Again

The Obama campaign may be attacking Republican rival Mitt Romney for investing abroad, but it is not shy about raising campaign cash overseas. Last week, the campaign held a fundraiser for American expatriates in Shanghai, raking in large sums from those benefiting from the sort of personal and professional investment overseas that President Barack Obama has cast as unpatriotic in a recent attack ad against Romney.

It is not the first time the Obama campaign has raised money overseas. In 2008, the campaign held similar events in Shanghai (photo above). Earlier this month, it raised money on July 4th in Paris, and though the new Obama attack ad uses a Swiss flag to denounce Romney’s foreign investments, the Obama campaign is bringing Hollywood superstar George Clooney to Switzerland next month for a huge fundraising event.[…]–Again

I’m no great political analyst but from where I’m sitting, it seems very clear that only Romney can stop this game by refusing to play it any more. Release the tax returns and take ownership of Bain. Until that occurs, he’s going to continue to be painted as guilty until proven innocent. He needs to get on with it–start dismantling this narrative before it takes on the dimensions of Jeremiah Wright that then will take an address on national TV to clear up just so he can get back to the issues that count and that Americans really care about..Get it done, Mitt and move on.

The civil rights legacy of George Romney could very well be Mitt’s undoing…in that he takes an ” affirmative action ” approach to Obama…I am concerned Romney would rather LOSE than compete against the first black president with the same level of competative vigor we see Romney wage against the ” racist white conservative” who he never names outright as such….. Romney’s wasted appearance at the NAACP…His failed trial baloon of Rice VP……….more early indications Romney has weighted the ” civil rights ” agenda too heavily……..Like he really has any chance of outplaying Obama on the issue of racism…..Romney’s main goal …like Judge Roberts…may be protecting Obama from realizing historical failure …… Making sure the first black president isn’t embarassed …more important to Romney than becoming President. …That is affirmative action fanaticism for you…Just the kind of mental illness you got from his father George.

@bg..Just my take, but it seems to me that the only way Romney wins this thing is by becoming a relentless fighter. I highly doubt there’s anything incriminating in his tax returns, so release them. Fine. Then demand oBama release his college transcripts, thesis and the host of other things he’s sealed and placed off limits. Go after him for the EP on Fn’F– harp on and on about those Nat’l Security leaks, green energy scandals–the list, as we both know, is dark and deep. Point being, Romney seems honest and decent–so come clean–and then take it to oBama good and hard.

Mitt Romney’s Record On Affirmative Action In Massachusetts

[Romney essentially walked away from the fight, ignoring his own advisory
panel. Instead, he had state officials effectively follow the old affirmative
action policies he had formally revoked with his executive order.

It wasn’t until Deval Patrick, a Democrat who was the state’s first
black governor, took office in 2007 that the old policies formally
    were reinstated.]

(pardon the source.. but facts are facts
no matter from where they’re unearthed)

better yet, hows about Obama releases all of his records before
demanding others who have already released more since 2008 than
he has since he was born??

besides, Romney, just as Bush did in 2000 & 2004,
relaesad all of his records back in the 2008 race..

btw, that’s so deja vu 2008..

and what has Obama produced since then??

well, aside from a proved to be forged BC at any rate.. 😡

  • Ace

I think Romney pretty much lost this election with his girly-like call for “Obama” to apologize and play nice.
Comes across as a total wimp.

  • CT

The very definition of CHICAGO SLIME must be Obama’s campaign manager.

  • Jo

Romney needs to stop asking for apologizes and go on the offense! Asking for an apology makes him look wimpish. Needs to fight o’s bs with examples of how he has f/u everything he’s touched. My god there are hundreds of examples of his incomptentance.

  • lizzy84

Again, just my take, Mitt should be listening to Ace:

‘As the saying goes, if you’re explaining, you’re losing. Mitt should have gone on the offensive. Forget about personality issues, refocus every biased question back on Obama’s failures and how they have hurt voters and the country. “Everyone knows when I left Bain, just as everyone knows Obama was President when your tax dollars were used to fund auto production in Finland as part of the “stimulus” that didn’t do what the President said it would and only got us further into this historic level of debt that is chocking job growth”. “Obama wants to talk about when I left my job at Bain, I want to talk about all the people who were kicked out their jobs while he’s been President and how I will help put them back to work”. And on and on and on.

I’m sure some Team Romney types will say he’s being calm and not swinging back hard will help win over squishy moderates. Maybe. Or maybe just sticking to his “gosh, this is just awful talk beneath a President” shtick will start to morph into the idea that Romney is a wimp. Ask George H.W. Bush how that worked out.

In short, forget the demands for an apology, punch him in the nuts.’

“I am suggesting is that he’s taken advantage of every single conceivable tax shelter and loophole that we can see.”

I’m not suggesting that Axelrod, Obama, the MSM and anyone trying to get Barry reelected by any means possible are G.D. liars…I’m flat out saying it, I’m shouting it from the mountain top.

It isn’t illegal to have a good accountant, but it is illegal to lie under oath, and the leftards take the cake in that regard – they are all liars and felons.

Just Google “Rasputin” and then Google “David Axelrod” and you will know all you need to know about this man behind the curtain – the upside down but true Wizard of Ozbama.

Never believe one single thing this guy ever says. That’s a start.

  • Tracey fish

Im only responding to second comment by militant: reagan, george HW bush, and George junior missed wreath laying as well. Obama missed in 2010 ( I think that was the year) only and instead was home for the first time in 18 months and laid a wreath at the Abe Lincoln national cemetery. I don’t know the reasons the othe presidents missed.. Perhaps they were ill, something happened on a security level that required their attention.. We don’t know. But there are photos and video tape that show pres Obama at Arlington 2009, 2011, and 2012. Remember… The people pulling our strings at the top are counting on collective amnesia and reinforce it by perpetuating a myth that will make people angry. Don’t believe all you hear. I don’t, on either side. Have a good day…
