Something we can all agree on…
Obama’s former Harvard Law School Robert Mangabeira Unger released this goofy rant on economics. Unger says Obama has failed in the progressive cause.
The Huffington Post reported:

One of President Barack Obama’s former professors appears to have turned against him, according to a recent YouTube video.

“President Obama must be defeated in the coming election,” Roberto Unger, a longtime professor at Harvard Law School who taught Obama, said in a video posted on May 22. “He has failed to advance the progressive cause in the United States.”

Even the progressives are fed up with Barack Obama.

The dude is a loon but at least he got one thing right.
Obama must go.

  1. yes, he sounds like “giberish”, and he is a professor at “havard”?

the only thing he gets right is voting obama out of office, i really don’t care what reason this baffoon gives, as long as he says don’t vote for obama!

i can only guess that this guy or professor has come to realize that his six figure salary and perks are going to be taxed to high heaven, should obama get re-elected. after all the support obama gives to the ows crowd are against the 1%, so there you go!

  2. To paraphrase TS Eliot:

“The last statement is the greatest treason:
To say the right thing for the wrong reason.”

  3. Looks like the loons in Hollywood might be waking up as well:

Despite the best efforts of a compliant media to puff up the alleged star power of the Preezy of the United Steezy, the entertainment industry gloss on his most recnet high profile fundraiser in New York turns out to have been rather dull. Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 reports:

Unless celebrities were invisible or shipped in from the roof through a chimney, the Obama fundraiser at Sarah Jessica Parker’s house last night was not so star-studded. From every report filed, the main star who attended was Meryl Streep. Unless, she’s suddenly changed her entire past practice of political donorship, it’s unlikely that Streep donated $40,000 to anything. Aretha Franklin stopped in for a few minutes, and then headed off to the Songwriters Hall of Fame dinner uptown. That left a few fashion people, and a sighting of Olivia Wilde, an up and coming actress who’s given some money to Democratic causes but nothing in that ballpark.

The commuter trains were shut down into lower Manhattan, the city was tied up in Gridlock, and a breathless press announced the evening was a glamourfest. Turns out it was a second rate production.

  4. Re #3 – that should be “disappointed” rather than “waking up”

  5. Yeah, but he’ll vote for him again, anyway. What’s he going to do–vote for Romney?

Not progressive enough for him. As if this country could survive either 4 more years of Obama or 4 years of Obama-squared.

  6. That’s good enough for me, Roberto, for the usual reasons. Not only has Obama failed the Progressive cause, he hasn’t done much of anything else, as far as I can see. About all he’s done is shut down America’s coal mines, forced us to save money by requiring light bulbs that sell for 100 times the previous versions, put about one in five of us out of work, run your entire presidency without a budget, rekindled the glorious fires of racism, insulted almost every one of our allies, shut down gulf oil drilling, ANWR drilling, blocked the Keystone pipeline, regulated our industry to near death, destroyed capital formation at historic rates, spent our children’s future, turned our Justice Department into a political tool, encouraged the nihilism of the petulant Occupy movement, paid off your buddies in the labor unions, thrown a fortune at allegedly green projects run by your campaign contributors, forced the production of unsaleable electric vehicles into unsold manufacturing inventories, and had some really nice vacations. Oh, yeah. That Obamacare thing, too.

Yeah, we probably ought to shop around a bit. Good idea, perfesser.

  7. Yikes, this guy would be a natural fit for the Politburo or some Commissar in the Soviet Union… the height of arrogant condescension. Notice how these guys glibly refer to the “monied interests” as being responsible for the collapse of 2008 with never even a fleeting reference to the government meddling in Fannie and Freddie and the CRA which lie at the core of the mortgage meltdown.

Progressive= COMMIE my friends, nothing more elegant than that.

  8. Jim reported on 0bama’s golfing the other day, he was closing in on the 100th round of golf of his career of campaigning fundraiser. That glorious day is here! It only took him 41 months total to hit the 100th round of golf! CONGRATS Mr. President! What a glorious achievement! You da man! 5 hours per round average x 100 rounds = 500 hours or 21 whole days of TEEbagging on the taxpayer’s dime. That is leadership right there! The joke is on us of course, the ones who pay for his triple digit outings, all this golfing and 0bama still hooks his ball to the left further than any other so-called president. *Golf clap*

  9. “Unless celebrities were invisible or shipped in from the roof through a chimney, the Obama
fundraiser at Sarah Jessica Parker’s house last night was not so star-studded. ”

That’s Hollywood. Once your star fades, your “friends” tend to disappear. Life’s a b–ch, eh Barry?

  10. If Barney Frank had a son, he’d talk like Roberto Unger.

  11. Sooooo…..what’ Barack Hussein Kardashian up to today?

    Obama’s Tone-Deaf Fundraiser

“You’re the tie-breaker,” he said. “You’re the ultimate
arbiter of which direction this country goes.”

    Obama Visits Billionaires Row

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, a lot of them — like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they’ve gone through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, and they cling to guns, or religion, or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

  13. No, he’s not going to vote for Obama anyway, and the whole point of this video is to convince other progressive Democrats not to either. The reason is not that he prefers Mitt Romney but that only by through defeat will the Democratic party be forced to reevaluate its politics and policies.

    Shocking but interesting.

  14. The dude is a loon but at least he got one thing right.
    Obama must go.
    That goes ditto for me!

    Social Theory

Social theory for Unger has failed in its task to take the idea of society as artifact to the hilt. In Social Theory: Its Situation and its Task, Unger argues that classical social theory was born proclaiming that society is made and imagined and not the expression of an underlying natural order, but at the same time its capacity was checked by the equally prevalent ambition to create law-like explanations of history and social development. The human science that developed claimed to identify a small number of possible types of social organization that coexisted or succeeded one another through inescapable developmental tendencies or deep-seated economic organization or psychological constraints. Marxism is the star example.

Roberto Mangabeira Unger is a philosopher and Brazilian politician. He is the author of nearly two dozen books in social, political, legal, and economic theory, and philosophy. Wikipedia

  15. Many Democrats I know have come to the same conclusion.
Hidden in plain sight he calls Obama a Con Man.

  16. This guy is a clown. Too bad a Sane Democrat didn’t criticize him for a legitimate reason.
