The Obama White House has asserted executive privilege over documents related to the ‘Fast and Furious’ scandal.

Via FOX News Insider:

This morning, the White House asserted executive privilege over documents related to Operation ‘Fast and Furious,’ per Attorney General Eric Holder’s request. Following this move, Judge Napolitano warned that we may be on the “precipice of a constitutional confrontation between the executive branch, the White House, and the Congress.”

Executive privilege, in its definition, provides protection over communications with the president himself. The letter sent by Eric Holder requesting executive privilege does not detail a discussion with the president, but Judge Napolitano said, “The implication is there.”

As much as I’d like to see Obozo impeached, that is not the right strategy going into the election.

It would make him appear to be being picked on by the GOP – victim of a witch hunt. No, the best attack is to keep putting this out there sort of low key. Just keep reminding people that hundreds died due to Fast and Furious and in the aftermath the White House and DoJ are doing their best to cover up and cloud the issues. Make them look like the crooks they are.

Unfortunately, you can impeach all you want (which occurs in the House, which Republicans control). Impeachment is just charging with a crime. The actual TRIAL for that crime occurs in the Senate (controlled by Democrats), and there’s no way any Democrat would get convicted.

That said, I hope they stick it to Holder and Obama. Anyone who has the gall to testify that the phrase “fast and furious” in an email do not refer to the operation Fast and Furious, and to answer “I don’t know” to half the questions needs to be knocked down a peg or ten.

There are commercials on the radio now where Holder is whining about people not buying counterfeit items. How about you worry a little more about not running guns and killing Americans, and a little less about counterfeit items, Holder?

If contempt goes bipartisan in the House, Obama’s gambit here to portray this as a racist witch hunt fails.
