Latest Twist… Obama Camp Now Says Obamacare-tax Is Not a Tax… It’s a Penalty

So now it’s not a tax. That’s not what they told the Supreme Court.
The Obama Camp now says Obamacare-tax is not a tax… It’s a penalty.

This is sooo confusing.

The Politico reported:

A top surrogate for President Obama insisted Friday that the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act was not a tax — despite the fact that the Supreme Court narrowly preserved the law on those grounds.

“Don’t believe the hype that the other side is selling,” Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick told reporters on a conference call.

“This is a penalty,” Patrick said. “It’s about dealing with the freeloaders.”

The Supreme Court upheld the entirety of the health care law Thursday on narrow grounds, declaring that the individual mandate was legal under Congress’ taxing powers.

In the wake of the decision, Republicans and conservatives have accused Obama of raising taxes. Radio host Rush Limbaugh called the act “nothing more than the largest tax increase in the history of the world” on Thursday.

It’s about large insurance corporations and overpriced hospital facilities forcing their services upon people instead of dealing with the waste, fraud and market collusion issues driving up cost. Its about politicians taking that money raised in taxes and spending it on whatever instead of funding care. Its about ANY corporation making donations in the future to politicians in return for having their services forced upon the individual, which can now be done external from congressional bodies…by regulators or even a judge from the bench with just a phone call from the dictator. Its about replacing traditional free market constitutional society with FASCISM.

freeloaders don’t pay for healthcare now, they won’t pay for it now. Show me an obama voter and I show you a freeloader, they are one and the same. basically they want the taxpayer to pay for the freeloader.
People on welfare aint going to give up even a fraction of there monthly welfare check and foodstamps to buy health insurance, they rather use there welfare check to pay for the new rims on the escalade.

Here is my take. I think Roberts did a good job, under the current circumstances, in judo flipping the Left and Obama’s radicals.

Now it is a tax. The SP told them it is a tax. The only way it gets funded is by TAXING people. That means the House. Obama is frozen. The second HHS uses a mandate against someone or a state, the lawsuit is filed and every judge up the chain has read the decision already. They know how the SP ruled. There is no confusion. That means the judge (outside the ninth circuit anyway) has no choice in ruling the action unconstitutional.

This is very much like the campaign finance reform process.

1. You vote in idiots.
2. Idiots pass bad laws
3. Court rules idiots elected to office can pass bad laws
4. Law violates the rights (a harmed person- a victim with a complaint)
5. Lawsuit filed
6. SP rules law fine UNTIL it violated the person’s constitutional rights, thus invalidating the law.

Crazy, but that is what you are left with after lawyers remove morality, justice and common sense from the process. Only thing left is the Rule of Law.

Soon that is what it will be called by everyone.

Besides he can call it anything he wants. The first second a citizens is “fined” or penalized for not doing something, a lawsuit will be filed and the SP’s decision is clear- unconstitutional.

It is a neat way to tie up the other two branches of government into knots.
