The left’s latest attempt to derail Governor Scott Walker fails miserably.

(Daily Beast)

Pathetic. Wisconsin Democrats dropped a Scott Walker love child story today – two days out from the recall election.
The far left Wisconsin Citizens Media Co-op reported:

Bernadette Gillick was a college freshman in 1988 when she first met Scott Walker. It was spring semester, and she had just transferred to Marquette University. She was assigned a room in O’Donnell Hall (then a women’s dormitory), which she shared with her new roommate, Ruth (not her real name). Ruth was dating Scott Walker, who was 20 at the time, and, according to Bernadette, Ruth was deeply in love with him.

Midway through that spring semester, Bernadette alleges, Ruth found out she was pregnant. She informed her boyfriend, Scott, and initially he was supportive. That support changed to callous indifference for his girlfriend’s predicament after Scott informed his parents of the pregnancy.

Bernadette reports that at this point Scott began denying that he was the father of the baby, and when Ruth said she was considering an abortion, he claimed he didn’t care, as he wasn’t the father anyway.

Bernadette remembers being present when Ruth was dealing with the wrath of Scott’s mother, who allegedly admonished Ruth for trying to “ruin [her son's] reputation.”

“I supported her [Ruth] as he [Scott] went from encouraging her to get an abortion, to telling me it was in my best interest to keep my mouth shut, to denying that he was the father and having his own mother call her and tell her to stop erroneously accusing her son of paternity,” Bernadette recounts.

It was a “horrible time” for her friend. “Imagine her being 18 years old and pregnant, walking around Marquette’s Jesuit Catholic campus with her boyfriend denying he was the father,” says Bernadette.

How sad and desperate. Wisconsin Democrats should be embarrassed.
It took one call and about an hour to refute the bogus report.
The Daily Kos, not exactly a bastion of conservatism, reported on the developments.

The story that Scott Walker abandoned his pregnant girlfriend in college (dKos diary link) failed the first test of verification by a professional reporter. Daniel Bice, the “Watchdog” reporter of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Online interviewed the anonymous woman who had the baby, but she adamantly denied that Scott Walker was the father according to a comment by Daniel Bice to the linked story.

I am getting a lot of emails because of this post. Two things: (1) I tracked down and talked to Dr. Gillick’s freshman-year roommate at MU yesterday, and she adamantly denies that Walker is the father of her child. Yes, she got pregnant as a first-year student, but she believes Dr. Gillick is mixing up stories; and (2) I Can Read CCAP has taken a family court suit involving Scott Alan Walker and mixed it up with the governor, Scott Kevin Walker.

Another fail for the Wisconsin Democrats.
What a bunch of losers.

  1. Just getting the narrative out there is what this was all about. Even if untrue, the media would (if they had to) bat cleanup on Wednesday…after the damage was done.

  2. Even if this story was true. Where’s the problem? This is an example of the moral standards liberals themselves live and support. Woman gets pregnant…woman gets abortion…man has no responsibilities whatsoever, even if the baby is born. Callous male putting his career above others? Is that the scandal Democrats attempt here? Shall we bring up Kennedy’s Chappaquidik? Clinton’s “you better put some ice on that.”? Liberals are so deranged they can’t even help portraying their own moral standards as immoral if they think it is a means to an end. Loathesome people.

  3. sad doesn’t begin to describe these people.

  4. Unreal between this and the threatening mailer, with your neighbors voting activities. It seems to me the WI leftists have nothing left. When is the media going to call them on this? I’m so over the constant campaigning by them. Hey remember when Obama told the Repubs “I won!” during the Obamacare debate and the Repubs were not invited to meetings? Well hey WI Dems, Walker won, get over it, he is actually doing what he promised during his first campaign. This has been a colossal waste of WI taxpayer dollars. There should be some legislation that states, if the folks who called for a recall loses, they must pay all election costs.

  5. Made up desperation BS…

A final Union/Marxist/Democrat Wisconsin Recall Anti-Tea Party political death rattle.

    RIP Comrades

    -VotingFemale
    Tea Party Attack Kitty

  6. How can you tell when a Democrat is lying? …

  7. There’s only one big lie that the Democrats need to keep alive: the lie that the arrogant, lying blowhard in the White House is a competent president.

  8. I’d probably deny it, too.

Doesn’t have any bearing on whether Walker is the father or not, and for that matter, it has not been established which roommate Gillick is referring to.

  9. Personally I find it hard to believe a college professor would risk her career bringing this up, when all she had to do was not bring it up.

Occam’s Razor has me leaning Gillick’s way for not.

  10. Sorry…Occam’s Razor has me leaning Gillick’s way for now.

  11. Liberals are nothing if not completely predictable. It’s so common its a routine part of any closely watched Democrat campaign. Frankly, I was expecting a really repulsive pedophile or a date rape story, since there are unions involved. Since it’s only a love child story, I presume this came from the Democrat National Committee and not the SEIU or the teachers’ union.

On election day, you can count on black voter suppression stories, and if the vote is even remotely close, six months of lawsuits and recounts.

It’s what they do. And what they do is stupid and disgusting.

  12. Thugocrats, alive and well. Hopefully, their desperate smears will serve to convince a few more voters to stand with Scott Walker on Tuesday…praying he prevails.

  13. How utterly low class – trying to draw comparisons between Walker and Edwards lefties??? Another EPIC FAIL.

  14. There will be plenty of people who read the story and not the correction. That’s all the Dems could need to turn the election to them.

  15. Re #10/11. Be careful with your application Occam’s Razor. There are two errors in your argument.
    a) Given the Professor Gillick is a member of the WPIN [Wisconsin/World Protest Information Network], and that is a hotbed of far-left demagoguery, it is unlikely that she is risking anything with spreading this story. If anything, it will earn her brownie points in her peer group.

    b) Occam’s Razor is useful only when dealing with possiblities. Here, the relevance of the Gillick story has been nullified by the facts uncovered by Daniel Bice’s investigation. Thus, it is not a choice.

Keep that razor away from your fingers or other vulnerable parts of your anatomy.

  16. Someone should do a little more digging and find out if “Dr.” Bernadette Gillick was one of those “Dr.”s handing out phony sick notes to teachers during the beginning of the whole Occupy Madison’s capitol. If she was, and now she’s trying to shovel this crapola, then she just earned the right to be stripped of her “Dr.”‘s license to practice medicine anywhere in the U.S.

  17. Pretty funny. I hope Walker wins but I sure don’t envy his career choice. It’s really pathetic what people will do and say about basically meaningless politics.

  18. and the outrage for John the Breck Girl I cheated on my wife whilst she was DYING from cancer………

    Pathetic dimocRATs. Really pathetic.

  19. *sigh* The old unwed mother meme just can’t compete these days. We’ve moved on to face-eating or stabbing roomates for lunch. I thought not knowing who your daddy is just good democrat doctrine anyways.
