Happy Memorial Day 20012–

This amazing photo was taken in 1918. It is a photo of 18,000 men preparing for war at Camp Dodge in Des Moines, Iowa…
A gift from our grandfathers:

Thank you – to all who have served with this great nation.
Thank you – for your sacrifice.

I posted this video last year. I hope you don’t mind that I am re-posting this year.
The True Meaning of Memorial Day – Amazing Grace

Glenn Reynolds offered this:  GEORGE S. PATTON: “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived.”

Will you join me in paying tribute to our Iraq War veterans and all of
America’s veterans and active duty service members by marching in the
National Memorial Day Parade on May 28? You can’t come all the way to
Washington, DC, you say? You don’t have to travel to take part in this
special tribute, because we’re holding a virtual parade online! Follow this link to register, select your avatar and join thousands of patriots across our nation to honor America’s veterans from the Revolutionary War up to the Iraq War.

Freedom isn’t free, but for nearly 70 years, Washington, DC, was without a parade on our Armed Services’ most sacred day. In 2005, the American Veterans Center revived the tradition of a Memorial Day parade in our nation’s capital, and today it serves two vital civic purposes: to give the general public the opportunity to honor our service members and pay tribute to our veterans, while allowing active duty troops, veterans, and re-enactors showcase the sacrifice of all our veterans in an exciting procession of American history the whole family can enjoy.

Whether you live in the Washington Metro Area and plan to attend this year’s parade or you live as far away as Hawaii or Alaska, I encourage you to join us on May 28, 2012, to honor America’s veterans, including the 4,487 American service members who gave their lives in the Iraq War.

Please follow this link to register for the virtual Memorial Day parade and join thousands of veterans, active duty troops and civilians across America to pay tribute to our veterans.

With your support and participation in the virtual parade, we’ll promote our veterans’ legacy, remember those who gave all, and preserve their sacrifices. Thank you in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Gary Sinise
Honorary Grand Marshal, National Memorial Day Parade

P.S. Celebrate Memorial Day 2012 and honor America’s veterans and active duty troops by marching in the National Memorial Day Parade online. Follow this link to register, select your avatar, and join millions of your fellow patriots on May 28, 2012.

  3. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. ~ John 15:13

    God bless our fallen heroes.

  4. God bless

  5. Fort Dodge was also hit hard by the influenza epidemic in 1918. Over 700 died from it in the service of their country. I remember my grandmother today who was an army nurse at Fort Oglethorpe in 1918.

  6. What a powerful photo!
Memorial Day is more than just a day for the family’s of the fallen. I thought I would not write about my dad KIA 1967 but I did this weekend sharing the images of what the family of a fallen soldier looks like.
May we never forget that time goes on but the family’s loss is forever.

  7. Thank you and God bless..

  8. May God be with us.

Yesterday (Sunday here in Japan) I had been given the opportunity to host our regular Bible Study session, and so I chose a theme of ‘Peace’ and ‘Peacemaker’, linking Numbers 25 and John 16:33, presenting the case that calmness in a world of sin and tyranny is a false peace. Further, that confronting and resisting evil leads often to turmoil and sometimes violence and loss, yet also a deeper and truer peace.

Those who serve in uniform fighting for freedom and liberty are true Peacemakers. Those who are chosen to pay the ultimate sacrifice deserve our deepest appreciation and respect.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
    John 15:13

It’s a message that is not usually welcome in Japan, but it needs to be delivered, Praise God.

    Best regards, Peter Warner.

  9. In Flanders Field
By Lt. Col. John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the Crosses row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders Fields.

  10. That is so beautiful all those men standing together making up the Statue of Liberty.

    God bless our troops.

Thanks to you and your families for your sacrifice.

    God bless America.

  11. Thank you to all our men and women who have sacrificed their lives for us. God Bless them all.

  12. Amazing or frightening photos by Mole ?…..If I am ever able to buy an original of the Woodrow Wilson photo at a good price , I want to send it to Glenn Beck…..> http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lvot7guOeX1qb2qnco1_500.jpg To me this photo exemplifies the American spawning of fascism where the individual is subordinated to being a mind controlled cell of the Dear Leader ….to be sacrificed in big global wars against the old word order to achieve the progressive dream of a classless uniform workers of the world united utopia.

It Has Always Been The Soldier

    It is the soldier,
not the President who gives US Democracy.

    It is the soldier,
not the Congress who takes Care of US.

    It is the soldier,
not the Reporter who has given us Freedom of Press.

    It is the soldier,
not the Poet who has given us Freedom of Speech.

    It is the soldier,
not the campus [community] Organizer who
has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate.

    It is the soldier,
    who salutes the flag;
    who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
that allows the protester to burn the flag.

~ Father Dennis O’Brien, US Marine Corp. Chaplain

    God Bless America!

God Bless Soldiers everywhere for putting THEIR
lives on the line to protect us ALL from terrorism!

THANK YOU TO ALL US TROOPS & THEIR FAMILIES!!
