George Zimmerman’s new attorney, Mark O’Mara, held a news conference shortly after Florida state prosecutors announce second-degree murder charges against Zimmerman in the shooting death of teen Trayvon Martin. O’Mara told reporters that George Zimmerman cannot get a fair trial in Central Florida today.

Mark O’Mara: I think no one would deny the fact that if George Zimmerman were walking down the street today he would be at risk. And, that’s just the reality. That’s just the way things are right now so we need to protect him. And, I’m hoping that the judge will understand that. I’m certain that the prosecutor understands that. I’m hoping law enforcement gives us the assistance that we’re going to need in this case. But I’m hoping that we’re going to keep him safe. I want him to get to his trial so that a judge or jury or the prosecutor and I can figure out a way to resolve this.

Reporter: Do you think you can get a fair trial?

Mark O’Mara: We wouldn’t today. I don’t think. The emotions are just running high in all of central Florida. BUt, we’ll see as we get closer to the point that we’re resolving it, we don’t even know if we’re going to have a trial.

  1. Ya think? Move it to Texas.

  2. He’s right. And, if he goes to prison to await trial, he won’t survive. Check out Twitchy.com’s thread/collection of Tweets on “dead man walking” George Zimmerman, and the evil that is being spewed by haters who are NOT really haters, as they are a “protected class” or something. Sickening. (NSFW – both language and disturbing content)

  3. As much as I feel sorry for the guy (Zimmermann) and wish him a happy ending in this drama, he is a victim (at least to some degree) of his own stupididty. After all as a registered democrat he voted for the very mob that now wants to lynch him.

He was one of those 63 million ignorant morons who fell for the robotic and even a zombic charm of the GREAT PRETENDER, despite of the abundance of the information about Obama’s true snout on the internet.

No thinking individual would ever have any doubts about Obama’s true intentions.

    I’ve NEVER had any.

Zimmermann shall be the first victim of the law of the revolution where “…the revolution devours her own children…”

He is exactly that; the child about to be devoured by his own revolution.

Let’s hope that, when in prison, he will have a chance to rething his associations…

  4. … to rethink his associations… – sorry for a typo.

  5. This will be shook, rattled, rolled and rapped about right up to and beyond the election.

  6. Although everyday visit on Jim’s noble blog is a MUST for me, I haven’t commented for a quite a while. Those of my American friends who still remember me will also remember that I’ve been consistently and for years warning you of the very scenario that is unfolding before your own eyes.

Almost fourty years of the life wasted under the boot and whip of a communo-fascist regime has taught me a thing or two.

You are beginning to fear and hate the leftists but you still aren’t fully aware of the nature or magnitude of the EVIL that has managed to place its roots in the American soil.

I can only hope that America will survive because without America there shall be no more FREE WORLD.

If I were younger I would for sure come to your country, like my countrymen Pulaski and Kosciuszko before to help you to fned off the EVIL.

    But one never knows…

  7. You can thank the Sanford Police. Had they truly charged and arrested him, there would be no media outrage. Remember, Chief Lee basically said case closed.

  8. Had they truly charged and arrested him

They did arrest him and interrogated him for four hours.

Remember, Chief Lee basically said case closed.

In other words, he is only being charged now because of media pressure. He will not get a fair trial.

  9. Agreed. Given the charged atmosphere I don’t see how he could get a fair trial.

I also agree with the comments that this prosecution has the appearance of one motivated by a desire to placate the crowd. The special prosecutor’s statement was liberally laced with “our victim” and “our victim Trevon” along with other comments which indicate to me that she is hardly the fair and unbiased investigator she needs to be in order to reach the truth.

Zimmerman is being thrown to the wolves IMO.

If the jury should fail to find him guilty expect all hell to break loose.

  10. Well, let’s just see. Does the Martin family want the public exposure of their son’s activites, of what ‘skittles’ are? The first thing to vaporize in a trial will be the ‘little kid’ falsehood. The police have the evidence of what Martin had in his pockets … candy skittles or … drugs. That will be presented.

It’s very very very fair to allow the family to be satisfied of the FACTS. Let the sun shine on it. Seems they may also have case against the media for jacking them up, too.

WHo knows? If even they think they were used by the race hustlers, where does Obama go? Or Holder or SHarpton? Don’t think Obama and Co have anticipated a possibility the Martin family may in the end not play along with the game.

All sorts of permutations are possible : ALL of which include a FAIL on Obama’s part. That’s happening, inexorably. NO ONE wants to be treated that way.
Think of it, Holder is propping himself up with … Sharpton. How lame is that? How insecure and pathetic is that shelter for the US Attorney General?

  11. Zimmerman is screwed. The lynch mob all but has the noose around his neck.
If by some miracle he is cleared of murder, there will be riots not seen since the Rodney King mess.

  12. Martin’s mother now saids she believes its accident after Zimmerman was arrest….In Florida after arrest is made you can file suit, remember she quit her job and exhubby quit his job also……..http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/12/11159111-trayvon-martins-mom-says-she-thinks-his-killing-was-an-accident?lite

  13. They will settle out of court on manslaughter. How does one states attorney say there is nothing to charge GZ with and the next one says Murder 2?

  14. He will not get a fair trial ANYWHERE…..

  15. #15

You are right, Zimmerman will end up with a plea bargain. Very few cases actually go to trial these days. The prosecutor says, you can take a chance on a trial but if you lose on murder 2 you go to prison for a minimum of 20 years. Or you can plead guilty to a lesser charge and get 2 years. That’s the way it works these days.

  16. I wouldn’t be so sure. I’m a resident of Duval County. If I were selected to serve as a juror, I would
have a hard time taking anything Prosc. Corey had to say. I definitely believe in innocent until proven guilty here.

  17. i have a feeling the jury won’t be so quick to buy this prosecutor’s charge.
