POWERFUL Catholic Election Ad Rocks Internet (Video)

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
Psalm 127:1

Catholics Called to Witness released this powerful video for the 2012 election. The values ad includes this powerful quote from Cardinal Dolan:

“Forcing the Church to buy insurance that goes against her teachings is a violation of religious freedom… When the government tampers with a freedom so fundamental, one shudders to think what lies ahead.”

This is an amazing production. The video already has over 100,000 views. Enjoy.

From the video: Will you vote the values that will stand the test of fire? Some things are more important than high gas prices or a faltering economy. They are life, marriage and freedom. This November, Catholics must stand up and protect their sacred rights and duties.

Won’t make a bit of difference in the coming election. Catholics, esp the Hispanic Catholics out here will still vote overwhelmingly for Obama and the Dem candidates.

  • GunsSaveLives

I’m not so sure this time that Catholics, Jews and other traditionally democratic voting blocks will not turn on the Dems and vote against them. We are at a cross-roads of EPIC proportions. Not because one man, or one election means everything – but because the outcome of this election will prove to everyone in America just where we’re headed: Back towards Liberty, or onward towards enslavement.

Catholics, Baptists, Mormons, Jews, etc. – we must all hang together or someday we will surely …well, you know…

  • Lady Mondegreen

This will make no difference, even among Catholics. The lines are pretty clearly drawn between those who follow the Vatican and those who follow their own conscience.

Please, please vote for Liberty & fiscal sanity. I.e. vote for change.

People need to return to the Sacraments, they need to wake up now or wake up later only to find that they are slaves to the state.

They labor in V-A-I-N, not V-E-I-N. The first means without success, the second mean inside a blood vessel.

    Fantastic video!
I will definitely share this with all I know.

Here is the full verse from the KJV:

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

The following verses (there are only 5) address the abortion issue directly:

Psa 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

“Forcing the Church to buy insurance that goes against her teachings is a violation of religious freedom… When the government tampers with a freedom so fundamental, one shudders to think what lies ahead.

Why then, did Cardinal Dolan not speak out against Obie’s planned mandate before it became law? Before it became clear that the Catholic Church would be adversely affected by it?

  • TXPatriot

I don’t think this one video is it though. I heard yesterday that the Catholic Bishops are planning to address this repeatedly in the parishes over the summer. I think this is just the beginning. As to Catholics who vote Democrat, I’ve known many and they all fell for the “social justice” lie. Don’t know how many will wake up now, but we’ll see. Finally, I must comment on the following the Vatican or their conscience comment above. Believe it or not, for many if not most Catholics, they are one and the same. Of course, not every Catholic follows the IDEAL perfectly. We are, after all, still human, but that doesn’t mean we disregard or condemn the ideals our church holds to. If Catholics turn this election, you can bet the Dems will be hurting at the ballot box for years to come and not just for the presidency.

  • Patty

It may take a while for Americans to wake up. And when Catholic do, LOOK OUT.. They love to wake up knowing that God will be there, always. Lately, Government has intervened and mandated without considering the Churches teaching and beliefs. Beliefs that are set in stone. Catholics believe in life from the beginning to the end and life everlasting.

Any one person cannot decide for the Catholics who lives and who dies. In essence this is what government is doing. Catholics will not contribute to means to abort a baby. Contraception are a means to preventing have a child. Catholic Church isn’t naive and they do know that some Catholics do things that are not always in step with the Churches beliefs but to accommodate a President in order to give Catholics contraception on their insurance is the direct opposite of their beliefs.

Family, Marriage, “Life” and Freedom to practice are beliefs without intervention from Government.

As the Catholic Church sees it the only way to stop our freedoms from being taken away is to Vote Obama out of Office. The pastors and Cardinals can’t tell you who to vote for but trust me the Church will be a BIG AND POWERFUL force in the election. This Government is trying to manipulate our Faith and that is very dangerous.

This will be an issue, no matter what the left tells us. God, Hope, Faith and Charity will always live in America. We will not be denied our FAITH AND OUR BELIEFS.

  • lizzy84

    @Economan/#8

I agree..and if you look at the statistics, oBama never HAD the Catholic vote because the people who voted for him were Pelosi Catholics–CINOs–Catholics in name only. Faithful Catholics who attend Mass weekly did NOT for him. He has nothing, absolutely NOTHING in common with us. The issue here reaches far beyond just Catholics..if he’s allowed to trample on religious freedoms, what other groups will he be targeting next?

  • Patty

People of faith cannot be made second class citizens. We are already joined by our brothers and sisters of all faiths and many others of good will in this important effort to regain our religious freedom. Our parents and grandparents did not come to these shores to help build America’s cities and towns, its infrastructure and institutions, its enterprise and culture,

only to have their posterity stripped of their God given rights. In generations past, the Church has always been able to count on the faithful to stand up and protect her sacred rights and duties. I hope and trust she can count on this generation of Catholics to do the same. Our children and grandchildren deserve nothing less.

More than 67 million Catholics are registered in parishes across the United States, with approximately 20 million of those attending Mass regularly. Nationwide, Catholics make up 21 percent of the population but 27 percent of the electorate. In each of the battleground states being discussed in political circles, Catholics continue to account for a higher percentage of the electorate than their overall percentage of the population. These numbers make Catholics the kind of swing voters who win elections. They also make Catholics a voter group that can influence the position of candidates on the key issues of life and marriage. It will take a robust Catholic outreach to elect a pro-life, pro-family leader for our nation in 2012.

  • Joanne

If anyone thinks Obama is going to let election votes for the Republican Party get in his way, people are sadly mistaken. November’s election is going to one of what would be seen in a country like Iran or Iraq under Saddam Hussein. Voting corruption and fraud will be far and wide. Obama is going to have it rigged and all sewn up before anyone even casts a ballot. This coming election is going to be a day of reckoning to see what the American people are made of.

Things are getting real serious, here folks. I hope we have all learned Germany’s lesson from the 30’s. Probably not too many of our young folk know what I am making reference, they are so ill educated. Pity, too, this was to be The Great Experiment. Took a Pretender in Chief to “nail it”

  • 8 My Foot

it’s “vain”. “Vein” is what carries blood through your body.

  • A very impressive and powerful video!

This was no amateur production. It was done professionally by a top ad agency. It reminds me of the a super high quality 9/11 video that went viral just before the 2004 election . Same style, music and quality here. Someone paid a bundle for this one, though I think a lot of high priced production talent was provided voluntarily. I particularly like the fact a woman was portrayed casting a ballot. That will drive the Obama campagin nuts.

Hope it is produced in a 60 second format for commercial TV placement.

  • But the ending is terrible, suggesting that all the economic stuff–jobs, energy, economy–do NOT stand the test of fire. They all disappeared in the fire. They didn’t stand the test. Insane.

  • Is this video on TV? If it isn’t then it should be…….ON EVERY DAMN STATION TO MAKE DAMN SURE THE DUMB PEOPLE OF THIS NATION WHO STILL THINK OBAMA IS JUST A HARMLESS MAN TRYING TO DO A GOOD JOB, THAT HE IS EVIL INCARNATE, HATES THIS NATION, AND HATES OUR FREEDOMS. THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE HUMBLED BEFORE GOD! AND IF HE CAN’T THEN HE NEEDS TO BE THROWN OUT OF THIS COUNTRY!!

  • tommy mc donnell

this ad may have been put out by catholics but i doubt the “catholic clergy” has anything to do with it. i lot of people here seem to think the church tells catholics what to do politically, that has never been the case in my sixty-eight years. the church doesn’t tell catholics how to vote and it shouldn’t.

cardinal dolan is speaking out againist an attack on religious freedom, not telling people how to vote. he would do the same thing if obama were a republican.

  • This video was so moving it almost made me cry thinking of all that we have already lost, and that includes all the lives of those yet unborn, and the lives of those who have fought for this nation so that, what, that dumb liberal people still have the right to vote Socialist Democrats, progressives, liberals, or whatever their name is today to cover the fact they are nothing but Socialist/Communists who want this nation for their own, to enslave this nations people, and want our money so they can give it to pay for other Communist efforts to take over other countries around the world? Give me a break!! These people need to be stirred like I was. They don’t have hearts, they just tell each other they do so they can claim to still be a human being.

Awake!! The time is now that Christian’s join together! We hold the power to turn this election towards God because no man has ever won the Presidency without carrying the Southern evangelicals. I am the South! I am the new Christian who dosen’t take any crap off of liberals who think they are so enlightened. They are not enlightened whatsoever. They live in the dark and do their dirty dark deeds in the dark. See, it’s evil that must have the dark to do their dark deeds.

It’s time to drag them all, liberals, into the SUN light, and the SON light!!

in the Roman Church has met with the Obama. they will hold up a paper and say that
it is an Executive Order absolving the Catholic Church from paying for abortion drugs and rubbbers.
It will be the same con run on some House member I can’t recall. It will have no value and be no better than trading away Czechoslovakia. Except this time it is the entire USA

In the Hunger Games the president asks the game master why is there a victor to which the game master does not have an answer that satisfies the president. So the president tells him it is to give the districts HOPE, because HOPE is a more powerful state weapon than FEAR.

Obama was elected on a HOPE that he would bring improvement to our country, and widespread FEAR that we were close to a point of no return as a society.

Now I FEAR Mr. Obama may just be re-elected… but I place my HOPE in the Lord for through Him all things are possible!

I thank God once again for the Catholic Church. May her leadership remain faithful and strong so that she continues to redirect the lost onto the path of Life Everlasting.

For those of faith, I hope they’ll exercise it, for “without works, faith is dead” — therefore, trust not in man, but God. Vote accordingly. Our nation – even the world – is at a crossroads at this very hour.

i’m pretty much good with anything that helps to oust barack from the oval office. this ad, however, is so melodramatic that it’s laughable. worse, it concerns me that this kind of over-the-top intertwining of religion and politics is dangerous for the country and even moreso for the future of religion. telling the faithful that it is imperative, for their very souls, to vote for any particular political ideology is grossly damaging to moral integrity. the political leanings of the catholic church have swung both far left and far right so where is the consistency of morality in citing “the economy” ? a church who follows the teachings of a man who was all-inclusive in accepting human frailties now says it’s imperative to exclude certain groups from the sacraments ? legal requirements placed on businesses in our secular society don’t apply to ‘the faithful’ ? this sort of thing just creates more confusion and uncertainty in a flock that is already very selective of which church teachings are valid in their day-to-day lives. the limited authority that the vatican has in modern american society is further
weakened by attempts to bully the electorate by claiming religious intolerance in a country that is already overwhelmingly christian. most people understand that there are things that we give unto to ‘caesar’ and things that we give unto god. we know, from both history and current regimes around the world, that attempts to combine the two are disastrous for society and the freedoms of the citizenry. while the people behind this ad may have good intentions, they are leading us down a dangerous path.

Yep. Finally. It has been my big gripe that the GOP did not catch on or catch up to how someone promoted Obama with ads that showed only a flag and his voice. They started immediately after the 2004 election. Pure brainwashing with an unknown voice that most had never heard of until he appeared and then bingo, the familar voice has a face. Never seen anything like it in all my years of watching these things. Money, money, money spent earlier than ever.

I agree with whoever said that the Catholics would not have said a word if he had not directly attacked them. They had climbed in bed with him and he thought all was well. Same with the Jewish vote. I do hope a few eyes opened. Finally?

Most Jewish voters are anti-religious secularist. Orhtodox Jews have trended republican for at least a decade. A liberal loon Jewish colleague of forty years whose son married an Orthodox Jewish wife has been having conniptions for twenty years because his son inluenced by his wife has been voting republican for years.
The JINOS will continue to votei in lockstep for the democraps because they like all leftists fear truth and goodness just like CINOS & fauxmainline protestants.

  • Jews will vote Obama because he is pro-choice.

Blacks will vote Obama because he wants to give them something or at least they think he does.

Catholics will for the most part vote for Obama because they are blue collar union types that actually believe that Democrats want to or know how to help the working class.

Homosexuals will vote for Obama because he thinks sodomy is OK.

Rich liberals will vote for Obama because money makes them feel guilty. They think they will assuage their guilt when Obama robs them and then re-distributes their wealth.

Single moms will vote for Obama because they want a safety net.

Who will vote Republican? Patriots, winners, straights, stay at home moms, Evangelicals and a host of others who can see that the handwriting is on the wall.

The Church sold out to the socialism of the New Deal and Great Society, believing that government socialism would do more good than church charity. But they failed to understand that once the government starts pushing the Church out, the government doesn’t stop pushing. And when the Church finally gets tired of being pushed and having its doctrine dictated by the government, half the flock has abandoned the faith and bought into secularism. The Church voluntarily allowed its influence and authority to dwindle. It’s been said to watch.

Where was the Church in 1973 when the Supreme Court legalized abortion? Why haven’t they been pushing back hard against the government’s usurpation of its religious freedom for the past 40 years?

    Obama is the anti Christ

  • the problem is that the masses — including the religious, be they Catholics, Protestants, “Jews”, or Sabbatarians — have little to no idea what freedom really is.

for one example, there is this debate about “redefining” or “reinforcing” MARRIAGE via the State. folks, this is a deception of satan, for the GOV’T has NO AUTHORITY to interfere in contracts between two individuals, which includes the marriage covenant — for it is a matter of the Church NOT STATE.

the fact that the masses have forgotten this is a tell tale sign that We the People have already chosen TYRANNY/SLAVERY over LIBERTY/FREEDOM.

WAKE UP folks! it’s not a question of “Democrat” VS “Republican”. if you think it is, then you’ve already been duped by the great deceiver.

We all commit sins in our lives of one kind or another but the taking of a life whether they are born or unborn is perhaps the worse possible sin; not only because it is a sin but also everyone makes it sound so easy when it is not; there may be some that may not feel guilt or remorse but there will also be those that will think about it for the rest of their life; wondering how old that child would be now and what that child would have looked like. Why is it kept so private and secret by girls and women who have had an abortion if there was not something wrong with it? I am an older woman and have lived my entire life with memories, and also thinking of a child that never made it to my world and how old that child would be about now or what that child might look like. Do not think by agreeing with the president’s mandate our sins are forgiven because the president has put it in a health care bill; they are not. Young girls and women will live with their sin the rest of their life; some may be able to adjust and forget but there are so many more who won’t. I ask all women Catholics or of any religion who have had to live with a terrible sin their entire life to join together with all Catholics to fight against the mandate that is being shoved down the throats of everyone. Please, so some young girls and women will be saved from their regrets and sorrow they will suffer forever. Actually, that may be our penance or at least part of it.

I worked for 5 democratic senators and 3 democratic presidents/presidential candidates. I don’t agree with everything in this ad, but it strikes a chord. The democratic party has gotten out of control and I’m afraid is undermining the values that have set this country apart. They want us all to be European secularists and wards of the state. And they are now engaged in a war on religion in general and the catholic church in particular. I now know what president Reagan meant when he said that he did not leave the democratic party, the democratic party left him. If this country is to be preserved, president Obama must not be reflected.

  • Pete Garza

Last election the Pope said, “you should vote for life”. Pretty much the same thing. My son and his wife, both Catholic, ignored him and voted for Obama. I told my son how disappointed I was with him. And I even told him that I think all Democrats are horrible people and of how they kill babies by pulling them out of the womb feet first and before the head comes out they reach in there and puncture the back of the skull and suck their brains out. That is true, look up how they do late obortions.
God bless America and God bless Israel!

    1) Are the Koch Brothers behind this? Much has been bought from the Catholic Church throughout history.
    2) Are the Catholics in hopes of having the religious enfluence on law and government that the Muslims have over their government in the Middle East?
    3) So what happens after you make abortion illegal? What do you do with all the people that like to complain about people having babies in bad circumstances? Do you make pre-marital sex illegal after that? What’s the plan to have respect for the lives of the poor that have babies and the working moms that cannot pay for child care to go to work? Certainly shouldn’t have government support this (sarcasm). I am so tired of hearing how we need to eliminate abortion but do not want to accept what it will mean to care for these babies throughout their ENTIRE lives.

I agree with CatholicWoman. Also, someone needs to tell me why the Catholic faith (particularly, the Vatican) stepped away from supporting social justice issues and began to focus on issues like “saving marriage,” which doesn’t even make sense to me. If you want to save marriage, focus on enhancing marriage preparation and making divorce more difficult–someone’s civil union has absolutely no bearing on the strength (or need to “save”) my marriage or anyone else’s. The Catholic church has always decided who could/would be married in the Catholic church, but now seems to have crossed a line into issues of government, where their efforts would only serve to influence whether civil unions/same sex marriages would be recognized for secular reasons, such as eligibility for various rights, employment benefits, etc.

I think we Catholics are the ones who have issues of Church vs. State confused. If the Catholic Church is going to become more politically involved, should it be prepared to give up its tax-exempt status? The Catholic church I thought I grew up in was about loving one’s neighbor and advocating for the rights of those who are persecuted and/or less fortunate. When did this change?
