Leftist Group Files IRS Complaint Against Catholic Diocese For Speaking Out Against Obama’s HHS Mandate

Barry Lynn, the anti-Christian reverend and director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, filed a complaint today with the IRS against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Peoria, Illinois. Lynn claims the diocese broke federal rules when the bishop spoke out against Barack Obama’s unconstitutional mandate that forces Catholic institutions to pay for birth control for employees when it goes against church doctrine.

Bishop Jenky spoke out last week against Obama’s clear violation of America’s first amendment rights.

KansasCity.com reported:

A prominent advocate of church-state separation filed a formal complaint with the Internal Revenue Service on Thursday, accusing the Roman Catholic Diocese of Peoria, Ill., of violating federal law by intervening in a political campaign.

The Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, alleges that a fiery homily delivered by Peoria Bishop Daniel Jenky last Sunday effectively urged Catholics to vote against President Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election.

Jenky’s homily criticized policies proposed by the Obama administration that would require all employers, including religious groups, to provide free birth control coverage in their health care plans. The bishop included Obama’s policies in a litany of government challenges the Catholic Church has overcome in previous centuries, including Hitler and Stalin’s campaigns.

“Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services and health care,” Jenky said. “In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama – with his radical, pro-abortion and extreme secularist agenda – now seems intent on following a similar path.”

Lynn has said church-affiliated agencies that operate on taxpayer dollars should follow public policy guidelines or only collect money from parishioners. But remarks delivered later in the homily prompted Lynn’s complaint to the IRS.

“This fall, every practicing Catholic must vote, and must vote their Catholic consciences, or by the following fall our Catholic schools, our Catholic hospitals, our Catholic Newman Centers, all our public ministries – only excepting our church buildings – could easily be shut down,” Jenky said.

first it was freedom of religion, now its freedon of speech. i wonder why “americans united for separation of church and state” never have anything to say all the political activity that goes on in the black churches.

maybe the bishop should have said “god damn america!” that doesn’t get your tax status change.

the Rockefellers (not to mention Rothchilds) can afford to spend trillions
bringing the Catholic Church to it’s knees, and it may very well succeed
without the utmost support of Christians..

So I guess now saying that abortion is wrong can get you sued by the un-Christian Rev. Lynn, a free-speech terrorist who hides behind a collar. What will be the next target, the 10 Commandments?

  • donh

So Obama is violating the separation of church and state with his mandate and the BISHOP is the criminal for speak out against the violation….This is like charging a white woman with a hate crime for screaming ” get off me Ni**er ” during an attempted rape by a black man. …but that is state sponsored justice in an Obama world.

even Atheists must be made to understand that if and when the Catholic
Church is defeated, there will be nothing left standing between them and
the forces of evil that will indiscriminately befall us all..

    “Americans United for Separation”

Funny on its own terms alone.

  • Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

<–Catholic and proud of it. The whole 'separatism' movement is just another issue brought up by people who have nothing better to do. Talk till you're blue in the face, morons. There is nothing factual to support any theory that the founding fathers intended for God to be removed from our Christian government. Get it through your thick heads. There's a reason why the president puts his hand on Abraham Lincoln's King James bible when he takes office. There's a reason God is, has, and always will be on our money. For every idiotic post of something you say anyone including Thomas Jefferson (Your patron saint) ever said about separatism I could post a something they also said that contradicts it. All you 'enlightened' liberals who have a problem with Christian religion better find some (religion) soon, because the time is coming when your going to ask him to save your asses and the line's gonna be busy.

  • YourMaster

*lol* there aren’t any federal rules on freedom of speech or freedom of religion
uh… liberals might wants to back away from this whole arguement
they’re really losing on the issues as of late.

By the way, yes even Thomas Jefferson put his hand on a King James Bible when he swore to ‘Faithfully’ execute his office. Only Barrack Hussein Obama used his left hand, and purposely omitted the word ‘Faithfully”. The Constitution requires it so he was later re-sworn in again but no bible was used.

OK – let’s all start gathering the politiking going on from the Black Theology churches – for a start. I have five from TODAY’S blogging check-out. Let’s all be Breitbart and really have a conversation about the use of the Preacher’s Pulpit in elections.

One day at a time – the war on Catholics, the war on women, the war on choices….

Axelrod devised this campaign strategy a long time ago – divide the “Reagan Catholics” who are said to have defeated Jimmy Carter.

This 2012 race is a mirror image of that one. Textbook. But this time I do not think the Dems will succeed. They have really pissed off a lot of Catholics already – and it seems like a lot more is coming down the pike.

Christians – stand together (and never forget that Catholicism is a Christian faith) – and let’s help our Mormon colleagues in faith defend against the new wave that launched today against Mormonism.

We can stand together – and we must – or our children’s futures will be more awful tahn we can imagine.

  • kathteach

Oh – I wanted to say – Jim Hoft rocks as much as the brave Bishop Daniel Jenky.

Breitbart just loves these kind of American patriots.

Role models for all of us 🙂

more here & here & here..

[From the time of the founding of the American Republic in 1776 to the final Barbary war in 1815, the United States contended with piracy and privateering conducted by the four so – called Barbary powers of North Africa – Algiers, Tunis, Tripoli, Morocco. “These petty Mahometan despots,” in the words of the historian Henry Adams, extracted millions of dollars in tribute from the United States (and European powers) even as they held hundreds of Americans hostage, enslaving many, killing some, and releasing others. The Barbary pirates were, in fact, privateers, sponsored by their despots with the blessing of the Ottoman Empire, itself the beneficiary of handsome tributes from the Barbary powers.]

Legal Insurrection had this today – right on target with this post by Gateway Pundit Jim…….

Taking Over the Institutions Just Like Saul Alinsky Wanted

Coverage emerged yesterday of a recent conference held by Al Sharpton’s National Action Network (NAN) in Washington, DC. Among the breakout sessions, one entitled “The Church: Becoming Spiritually Fed and Feeding the Hungry” appears to have been especially ineptly titled given the actual content conveyed:

The panel had little to do with feeding hungry people, as panelists focused instead on explaining how churches can be used as a more effective place to organize politically, specifically around voting and getting out the vote efforts, and electing people who will feed the hungry for them.

Panel moderator Dr. Barbara Williams Skinner, Co-Chair of the National African American Clergy Network, said, “What we want to do today is to talk about what it means not only how to be spiritually fed and then to feed the hungry, but how do we elect people that will feed the hungry? … What can we legally do and mobilize to elect the kind people we need to have elected without anybody worrying about their tax exemption.”

If CAIR’s Attacking You, You Must Be Good

[‘Where are all the moderate Muslims?” It’s a question often posed by
Americans who watch with disgust as the Council on American-Islamic
Relations and other apologists for radical Islam hog all of the attention.
CAIR, which was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror-
financing Holy Land Foundation case, and which regularly denounces
any effort to combat radical Islam as anti-Muslim prejudice, is routinely
described in the press as a Muslim “civil rights” group.

Moderate American Muslims exist though. And it’s not that hard to find
them. Just see who CAIR and MPAC (the Muslim Public Affairs Council)
    are denouncing.]

yes, he’s a Muslim, and i honestly wish he
were our president v the Islamist Obama..
