Another Obama Record… 1 in 2 New College Graduates Are Unemployed or Underemployed

Candidate Barack Obama promised American youths jobs, love, and happiness.

President Obama promised the youth in America jobs and happiness. Three years later, American youth can’t buy a job.

Thank you, Mr. Hope and Change.

The percentage of young people employed last year was the lowest ever for a July since the government started tracking the numbers in 1948. And now this… 1 in 2 new college graduates are unemployed or underemployed.
The AP reported:

The college class of 2012 is in for a rude welcome to the world of work.

A weak labor market already has left half of young college graduates either jobless or underemployed in positions that don’t fully use their skills and knowledge.

Young adults with bachelor’s degrees are increasingly scraping by in lower-wage jobs — waiter or waitress, bartender, retail clerk or receptionist, for example — and that’s confounding their hopes a degree would pay off despite higher tuition and mounting student loans.

An analysis of government data conducted for The Associated Press lays bare the highly uneven prospects for holders of bachelor’s degrees.

Opportunities for college graduates vary widely.

While there’s strong demand in science, education and health fields, arts and humanities flounder. Median wages for those with bachelor’s degrees are down from 2000, hit by technological changes that are eliminating midlevel jobs such as bank tellers. Most future job openings are projected to be in lower-skilled positions such as home health aides, who can provide personalized attention as the U.S. population ages.

Taking underemployment into consideration, the job prospects for bachelor’s degree holders fell last year to the lowest level in more than a decade.

Wow, that’s devastating. Hopefully these kids who voted for Obama cause they thought he was ‘cool’ will realize the folly of their wasted 2008 vote. Not only can’t they get a job, but the projected $6 Trillion added to the nation’s debt is going to fall on their shoulders and directly affect them and their children unlike any other generation. Let’s hope they ‘grow up’ and recognize that the tax and spend Democrats are not the ticket to their future prosperity and vote ABO in November.

Stupid is as stupid does. . .

After spending so much money of “higher” education, and then pulling the lever for Obama in 2008, what do you have to show for it class of 2012?

    You vote for a BIG O – – you get a BIG nothing. . Zero. .Nada. . .

How’s that Hopey Changey thing working for you youngin’s? Boy were you sold an empty suit.

You wanted Hope and Change. . . Change to what. . .you forgot to ask? Change from a vibrant economy (the envy of the world) to a centralized system that failed in the former Soviet Union?

Change from jobs to massive unemployment?

Change from Bushes $5 trillion in debt after eight years (fighting two wars and 9-11 as well an anthrax scare) to President “spread the Wealth” Obama’s $5 Trillion in 3 1/2 years!!!!

Change from gas at $1.83 when Bush left office to Obama’s $4+ now on the way to $5 or more. .

Change from job creation to massive unemployment, rising jobless claims, falling home prices and declining home sales. . .

So now you really do HOPE you can find a job? With what skill or talent?

And while many college students take libtard courses in humanity, diversity or black history, millions of Chinese and Indians study math and science and engineering. . . and guess who gets the jobs. . lol

Come November 2012, try to “grow-up” and make the right choice. . not left

Make the Right Choice so you are not Left behind. . .

Let’s Hope there is Change come Novemeber!!!

After all, a big “O’ is still a zero no matter how you count it!

  • Militant Conservative

He wants four more years to

    Do more of the same.

Are you a little smarter now

    Than in 2008?! I bet a

    majority of graduates got a

    Good education in politics.

    LOL, you idiots see your

    Mistake in the WH. Elections

    have consequences huh?

    Sometimes kinda personnal.

    Pain is a motivator, enjoy

    your “free” education.

    Powder is dry

One more point Class of 2012

Just because Barack had no skills or real work experience and became President of the World’s largest economy doesn’t make him qualified. . .

Obama is not qualified to work at McDonald’s as he needs a teleprompeter to ask, “Do you want fries with that order?” or “Shall we supersize it today?”

No skills makes you inexperienced, inept and incompetent! Just like Obama. . . A BIG “0”, Zero, Nada, Nothing

And without skills, no HOPE will Change the outcome! You will not be qualified. .

Come November, make the RIGHT Choice – – Vote Obama LEFT out! Time to add him to the growing unemployment line. . . the one he has created.

So Vote Right and don’t be LEFT being a donkey’s ass. . .

If we just banned ATM’s I think that the problem would be solved :) We need more physicists as bank tellers. If we closed our borders, we could have more anthropoligists driving cabs : )

Problem solved. Isn’t the coming Marxist America just what Barry promised? His hope and change is our misery and dispair. Had enough? You can vote! In most places you don’t even need ID:)

Technically under Obama’s administration, it’s Fun-employment. Imagine how good of a time America’s recent college graduates are having, moving back in with mom and dad, staying out drinking and partying until 5 am, getting up at 3 pm and getting free ObamaCare and food stamps.

With all the essentials covered permitting a perpetual party, what would anyone have to complain about?

Now they are going to vote for Obama again because they will be afraid of getting their food stamps cut. And some of them think BO will waive the debt they took on to pay for the overpriced college brainwashing they bought.

We’re seeing the productive middle voluntarily turning into an unproductive dependent class before our eyes.

Thank you MSM and higher ed for helping the Democrats pull this off.

Yet many US companies are still hiring H1-B anf F-1 visa workers, so they can undercut the market even more.

We should call it what it is- Un-American.

  • Larkin-

For four years, these college-age kids have been brainwashed that this is all Bush’s fault.

And as everyone knows, it’s harder to UN-learn something than it is to learn in the first place.

I’m not optimistic. I think a very large number of them will shoot themselves in the other foot this time.

  • Arch

It’s important to learn from your mistakes. I know; I made lots myself.

On afternoon when I was in the 6th grade, I had 50% of a good idea. I thought I could launch myself across the playground using a tetherball pole. The pole was an 8′ long 2″ diameter pipe stuck in concrete poured inside a truck tire. I convinced Mike Stone, the biggest kid in our class, to pull the pole down. I grabbed the top end of the pole and Mike pushed it up. The launch phase was successful until the pole went slightly over center and rebounded hitting me in the forehead during the ascent phase.

Mike helped my up and we went into the Boys room to wash the small cut. My eyes were swelling shut as a purple hematoma covered my forehead, I looked in the mirror and began laughing uncontrollably. Our teacher heard what happened and came in thinking I had had a psychotic episode.

“Why are you laughing,” she asked.

“Dad’s going to ask me if I learned anything.”

Well, Class of 2012, your idea of voting for Obama was perhaps 25% of a good idea. Have you learned anything?

Last year’s graduating class, for the first time in history, was told to look overseas for work.

And they continue to encourage people to go to college ….

    Cancel ALL H-1Bs and L1s

Suspend GC processing for employment based categories

Terminate ALL family based immigration with the exception of spouses and minor (under age 18) children.

To be fair, this isn’t *entirely* Obamee’s fault.

The Ivory Towers have been broken now for half a century. Any private lender giving an art history or medieval studies major $150,000 in college loans should be fired for throwing that money away. Any government entity picking up that tab should immediately have to answer to angry taxpayers and voted out of office. There is zero future for 99% of those “degree” holders other than a job involving a name tag, and even those jobs are vanishing into the internet shopping void.

It’s time for America’s youth to realize that that not everyone gets to go to college, because not every college degree adds to society as a whole. In fact, we need to do away with a vast majority of state institutions and let the markets decide.

Friend of mine has a daughter with 4 degrees. Nice girl. Not one of those sheepskins is worth the time it took to print it in the real world. She’s assistant manager now at an upscale retail store while she puts in applications. This has been going on for a year now.

I feel sorry for the poor sap who marries her and gets her second mortgage in college debt. Odds are of course he’ll have the same baggage. Good luck getting a bank to approve a mortgage when you collectively have a quarter million in college debt and you’re working at the mall or doing entry level scutwork.

Lot of kids are getting a crash course in lowered expectations out here in the real world. They’re the ones who have the most reason to want a balanced budget with low taxes and sharply reduced government spending, but Obamee’s going to try to buy their votes with a student loan forgiveness ponzi scheme.

And that *is* entirely his fault.

& Government Motors is opening 600 new dealerships….in CHINA! Congrats y’all, we have stolen money from American stockholders, given it to the UAW to ship thousands of jobs not just to Mexico and Canada but to China. Redistribute we must. Bet, lots of these college grads voted for “hope and change” . College should require mandarin classes along with all those liberal arts nothing degrees, right?

The BA degree is the biggest waste of time and money on the planet. I should know, I have one. Fortunately, since that time I’ve attained graduate degrees resulting in actual, marketable skills. The problem is that every kid is told to go to college, but no one ever exhorts them to think about WHY they should go to college.

Fifty years ago, a BA degree in any subject conferred a certain status upon the holder. Educated persons were rare, they were useful, they had practice in critical thinking. Today, the BA degree is only useful as a prerequisite to graduate study in law or licensure as a teacher or social worker. The thing in itself doesn’t prepare anyone for a job of any kind. Employers agree. Unless you are training in business, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or some other serious pursuit, taking 100k in debt to finance an undergrad degree is a sure ticket to a life of bartending and defaulting.

Fully half the students attempting college work today would be better served by a course in practical skills, like plumbing, construction, electrical, carpentry, cooking, HVAC. But, the young skulls full of mush have had their self esteem so overinflated that they can’t imagine themselves being a lowly plumber. Meanwhile, the plumber is earning 100 grand a year with no debt. Figure that one out genius millennial with a BA in peace studies.

We can’t retreat from our course now, though. We’ve pumped up millions of kids with a college or bust mentality, we’ve made Universities into huge corporate entities paying big salaries that depend on ever increasing enrollment and ever increasing tuition. I don’t see the escalation stopping any time soon. We would have to tie aid to reasonable prospects of success in college and employability. That would eliminate probably half the seats in our colleges and universities. Perhaps even more?
