Another Obama success story – The Taliban are ready to retake Afghanistan.

Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud (L) sits beside a man who is believed to be Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal Al-Balawi, the suicide bomber who killed CIA agents in Afghanistan, in this file still image taken from video released January 9, 2010. Intercepted militant radio communications indicate Hakimullah, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, may have been killed in a recent US drone strike, local media sourced Pakistani intelligence officials on January 15, 2012. A Taliban official denied the report, media said. (Reuters)
After eleven years of sacrificing blood and treasure in Afghanistan the Taliban is poised to retake the nation after NATO forces withdraw from the country.
Thanks Barack.
A secret U.S. military report says that the Taliban, backed by Pakistan, are set to retake control over Afghanistan after NATO-led forces withdraw from the country, The Times newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Lt Col Jimmie Cummings, a spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), confirmed the document’s existence but said it was not a strategic study of operations.
“The classified document in question is a compilation of Taliban detainee opinions,” he said. “It’s not an analysis, nor is it meant to be considered an analysis.”
Nevertheless, it could be interpreted as a damning assessment of the war, now dragging into its eleventh year and aimed at blocking a Taliban return to power, or possibly an admission of defeat.
It could also reinforce the view of Taliban hardliners that the group should not negotiate peace with the United States and President Hamid Karzai’s unpopular government while in a position of strength.
The document cited by Britain’s The Times said that Pakistan’s powerful security agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was assisting the Taliban in directing attacks against foreign forces.
It is now evident that the Obama legacy will include the spread of radical Islam to Egypt, Tunisia, Yeman, Libya, Iraq and now Afghanistan.
Congratulations Barack! You couldn’t have done more damage if you would have tried.

G-d help the women, teachers, and girls.
This is horrible news and NO DOUBT designed to destroy morale among our troops.
Obama must first “deconstruct” our nation before he can rebuild according to his “grand vision” of “when it comes to it” –”standing with the Muslims.”
Andreas K. commented:
Ok, how is that Obama’s fault?
Eventually you would have pulled out. With or without Obama. You want to stay there for eternity? In a country with a fascist ideology?
The problem there isn’t Obama pulling out. It’s islam. Islam is fascist. As long as they have islam they won’t have freedom. Yes, it’s that simple. The invasion of A-stan was a waste right from the very beginning. You should have nuked Kabul and be done with it.
The whole nation building bullsh*t started with Bush. Remember that.

No, it started with Truman.

Allow countries to do what they want as long as they don’t hurt others. We can’t change countries into Jeffersonian Democracies – that was the major failure of the Bush Administration. Afghan women are never going to go out and form a League of Women’s voters and such things. Leave them be.

Not so long ago Obama was “holding talks” with the Taliban and Biden was publicly stating they weren’t so bad . . . . how can this possibly come as any surprise to anyone? Of course the Taliban are going to take over . . . with at least Obama’s stamp of approval, if not his outright engineering of the takeover.
DJ commented:
Obama doesn’t care. That reduction in military spending is going to be spent on “social justice”.

Obama is going to lose this war but the disasterously incompetent regime in Kabul was put in place by Bush and Karzai has NEVER had a viable government. He was always going to fall to someone when the US pulled out…

This area has been at war since Abraham it is never going to change and the creation of Islam by the military leader Muhammad was just an outgrowth of that. Time to dust off our shoes and let be. This is not Obama’s fault, he has plenty that is guilty of.

The headline,

is structured to read as if Obama made a mistake in judgment, a consequence of which results in super-bad muzzie types reasserting themselves in this islamic hellhole (heh, heh, a little joke; if it’s islamic, it’s necessarily a hellhole).
In politics nothing happens by accident, to quote from the high king of liberalism itself, FDR.
Obama WANTS hard line muslim rule.

I agree it is unfair to blame Obama as it was a Bush policy doomed to fail . Either we butcher a large population, stay for ever and pay billions in dhimmi tax bribes for a fake stability, or pull out and have our fantacy world collapse. We never should have gone in there unless we were willing to colonize these lands into permanent US territories and extract taxes , resource profits from these people to compensate the cost of establishing a better state.

What makes you think that he was not trying and the triumph of Islamic hardliners is an accident. Nobody could have such terrible results in American Foreign Policy without trying.
Every time we have had a Liberal President, since Truman, our enemies grow in strength while we do military cut-backs. Before Regan got elected they were ready to cmake massive concessions to the USSR.
Well, here we go again

The Elector of Saxony commented:
I don’t think we could have prevented this, unfortunately. Bush was a raging idealist, and I give him credit for that. I think he truly believed that we could transform these savage societies into free-market democracies and that would liberate the people from radical Islam. That is a credible idea, by the way, and has historical precedent in support of it. The Japanese of WWII were most like what radical Islam is today. There are numerous similarities, and by US intervention Japan was in fact turned from a death cult dictatorship into a modern democratic society. I think Bush was wrong, but can be admired for believing it so fervently. The difference may have been in the execution; we utterly destroyed Japan in the war and broke their will to fight. We used kid gloves in Afghanistan and Iraq and it bought us more problems than it could have solved. If you choose war as your problem solving tool, you need Total War. Anything less begs for failure and roadside bombs and insurgencies. Armageddon might have brought about the changes Bush believed in, but we lack the nerve for Fat Man and Little Boy today.
This leaves us with a terrible problem that Obama has made much worse. By intervening on BEHALF of radical Islamic insurgents in the M.E., he has handed them state actor status and greatly expanded the opportunity for them to make war and terror. So, Bush failed but with decent motives, Obama has failed due to incompetence and dereliction of duty. The result of all of this is that we are going to have to go back there and fight a regional war sometime in the next 10 or 15 years, and this time Obama will have handed nuclear capability to many of the states and terror groups over there. Now we will be forced to rain death on military and civilians alike and we may have to endure a nuclear strike here at home in the process. Millions will die this time.
Bush Sr. could have finished the job in Iraq, but he didn’t want to run afoul of the U.N. (rolls eyes) and so the sons of the Gulf War Vets had to return and reclaim what their fathers had won but the Donkeys in charge subsequently lost. Clinton let Al Qaeda grow unchecked because he didn’t have an arrest warrant and he showed them they could win when he backed down in Somalia. Bush II thought he could give them some blue jeans and Beatles records and they’s say “Screw the Prophet! I want sneakers!” Now Obama brings the power of the US to bear against our allies in the terror fight and is a sympathizer with Iran, Syria, the Muslim Brotherhood, et. al. I sure wish we could elect someone who is realistic and patriotic enough to get the job done, keep the flow of oil open, keep our Boys at home unless our own vital national interests are threatened, let our enemies do the dying if there is dying to be done, and not continually set us up for failure over there.
More Liberty commented:
America owes our military veterans a big apology. Many fellow warriors died in Iraq and Afghanistan for nothing. As our own borders lay open and vulnerable, fellow marines and soldiers died to build a nation that is virtually in the 8th century. It will once again become a haven for extremist. We should never have spent money rebuilding it. We should have just went in taken our AQ and Taliban leadership and left. Screw their schools, screw their farmers, screw their economy. We shouldn’t be nation building.

Yeah. Like we’ve never done that. Fifty years and counting to occupy a country with a fascist ideology to make sure it wouldn’t rise again after its defeat. Starts with “G” ring any bells? How about a second historical example that worked out better … “J”?
If we had the likes of (D) Truman and (R) Eisenhower following up victory for reconstruction, instead of Obama, Afghanistan would be more stable.
So, it IS Obama’s fault.

The USA shouldn’t be nation building. Kill the MFers that are actual threats, and leave. Trillions of dollars waisted. Good or bad, I sure don’t want to be in Afghanistan or Iraq for over half a century like Germany, Japan and Korea. There is a HUGE difference: the constitutions of both Germany and Japan were dictated by the US military governing powers and it was based on and patterned rather closely after our own. The Afghani constitution was doomed to failure from day one, specifically because it was not. That constitution is based entirely in islam and continues the discrimination against women along with outlawing all other religions.
The Elector of Saxony commented:

Damn good point. Maybe we should return to a strategy of deterrence and nothing else. Get out of line and the Stealth bombers roll until you comply or until you’re all dead. We can’t create any jobs here due to our massive debt, so the boys who stand watch on foreign borders, kill insurgents, achieve regime change and rebuild terror states come home to what? Jobs at WalMart? Welfare? Maybe our boys should be on the border, shooting drug dealers and job stealers. Fewer casualties, better lives for every American, safer streets, schools that can go back to teaching in English so OUR kids can learn, and a job for every American who wants one. Man, could one of our GOP nominees throw that out as a plan? He’d win all 50 states.

On September 1st, 1939 the Germans invaded Poland from the west. On the same day the Red Army (that’s the Soviet Union) invaded Poland from the east. They fought together to destroy Poland. To the Polish people it did not matter that one army claimed to be Fascist and the other claimed to be communist. When you’re dead, you’re dead. I realize your teachers believing you to be easily fooled thought they would give you the propaganda that there is some magical difference between Fascist and Communists. There is NOT! As for the later war in the east, it was a war to see who would rule the world, Stalin or Hitler. Uncle Joe had FDR on his side so he won out.

Those were wars waged agaisnt governments. The governments surrendered,

In answer to your comment sst u are right , Germany and Japan have as much in common with Islam as obama has with romney, I explained in a previous blog that i was born an Egyption coptic and 24 years ago myself and my mother escaped while muslims burned my whole family alive in a church in Luxor, guys i know some of you want to blame obama for this and some bush and maybe its easy for me to comment as i live in Ireland and not the US, but your country has sacrificed enough in the name of peace for the moment, youve lost far too many good men and women in the name of liberty, the only reason that the US, russia, and the UK, are in Afganistan is for the opium that has destroyed 1000s of Irish lives. your best option is to get out, because mark my words, each man and woman on this blog will witness the day when Israel wipes IRAN AND syria from the face of the earth. I more than anybody have a reason to hate muslims and let me tell you, when it really comes to it there is no such thing as a peaceful muslim, they are tought from an early age from the quran not to be-friend a christian or jew, i for one will never forgive what they done to my family and coptic brothers
