Shameless… Jay Carney Says Obama Didn’t Turn Down Keystone Pipeline – It Was Republicans

It wasn’t Barack. It was that other president in the White House.

Jay Carney blamed Republicans today for blocking Keystone.
Real Clear Politics reported:

White House press secretary Jay Carney first says Republicans “forced” President Obama to deny the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline. Later in his press briefing, Carney says Obama didn’t turn down the pipeline.

“In terms of Keystone, as you all know, the history here is pretty clear. And the fact is because Republicans decided to play political with Keystone, their action essentially forced the administration to deny the permit process because they insisted on a time frame in which it was impossible to completely approve the pipeline,” Carney said when asked about the pipeline by ABC News’ Jake Tapper.

Later in the briefing, Carney says it is the Republicans’ fault.

The childish responses by Carney that are accepted by the media in the room is tragic. An appropriate press response to this would have been… What does the administration consider to be sufficient time based on the the supplemental EIA that has been submitted. And is it a priority for the administration to complete the assessment.

What Carney has said here is that by establishing a time line by Congress, the administration takes the position that they will not be professional, they will not identify what there issue is and they will stop progress out of spite. The Eia has been in progress for 4 years, is time enough for world war 2 to be completed or the Alaskan pipeline to be constructed.

This is all about a shakedown for money for environmental justice reparations administered by the Obama folks. Read the supplemental eia to see it coming

Obama said NOPE, no pipeline, then points the finger at Republicans for being too darn efficient at getting things done. How else do you run against a do-nothing Congress? Alaska’s oil taxes too high, too complex, consultant tells legislators

[A consultant retained by Alaska’s Legislature has recommended the state rein in taxes on oil production to attract industry investment but also to dismantle a complex set of exploration and development incentives that gives away too much, with the state paying as much as 80 percent of the cost of new exploration wells, state lawmakers were told in hearings Thursday.

The Legislature is reviewing the state tax system with hopes of encouraging new investment to slow or reverse a decline in production from the North Slope.

Following several days of joint hearings by the Resources and Finance committees of the state Senate, Pedro van Meurs, a Calgary-based expert on international fiscal systems, suggested the state revise its taxes so the total state take including royalty is no more than 75 percent on existing production and 65 percent on new production.]
