Former Senator Rick Santorum is having a HUGE NIGHT tonight.
The AP just called Missouri for Rick Santorum.

My friend Ed @EdBigCon is attending the Santorum election party tonight in St. Charles.

Dana Loesch and David Limbaugh are at the Santorum party tonight.

Santorum is also winning in Colorado with 50% of the vote so far.

UPDATE: The AP just called Minnesota for Santorum. Another HUGE Win!

David Limbaugh tweeted this from St. Charles.
Romney is hitting both Obama and Mitt Romney hard in his speech tonight in St. Charles.
Great Santorum line: “I don’t stand here as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney. I stand here as the conservative alternative to Barack Obama.”

Here’s part of Rick’s speech tonight in St. Charles.

UPDATE: With 30% reporting in Colorado, Santorum is winning 42% to 30% over Mitt Romney.

UPDATE (Wednesday AM): Santorum wins Colorado too with 40% of the vote.

  1. Nice

  2. Saw this coming here in St.Louis County. Chatted with voters at my precinct as I went into vote today, and they were ALL doing the “anti-Romney” vote! Made sure to tell them it doesn’t count, that they need to CAUCUS on March 17th! WE MUST GET THE WORD OUT….

  3. wife and I love Rick, but we do not think he can beat the current POTUS jerk to take over that job.

  4. Whhooowee! He finally gets his turn. I hope he can withstand the vetting he is about to get, the big spending republican!

  5. He’ll finally have to admit he supported an individual mandate in 2004, was it? He’s going to have to admit A LOT of things. I think it’s a good thing long term.

  6. You just gotta know that Mitt was the kind of kid in school who was picked last on the kickball team and only got people to come to his birthday party by his dad handing out cash to get others to come.

  7. Go Rick go!

  8. God bless Rick.
Liz: provide a source please, I have not found anything whatsoever of him ever having supported an individual mandate, and I’ve viewed his campaign debates as far back as his 1994 Senate run.
In fact, he’s the only one between he, Mitt, and Newt who hasn’t supported it.
Not only will he not have to admit that, he won’t have to admit he’s supported govt action to curb man-made global warming (another Mitt and Newt issue), or TARP, for that matter.

  9. He has some non-kosher PORK issues but on the other hand Mr. and Mrs. Perfect are already #occupying the throne of the USA.

  10. Good things words matter more than politics cause his politics are crap. Can we support taxpayer funded trust funds for every kid? Rick santorum says yes we can!

  11. This hurts Newt more than anyone. With Santorum winning Minnesota, and if he wins Colorado, Rick might pass up Newt in the Delegate count.

  12. Turns out Colorado is a long ways from over. The only counties reporting are the ones in the Eastern and Southern border counties.

  13. ++

as long as he’s not going to make Romney his vp, that’s
okay with me..still in with the Ging O Newt though.. ;-)

  14. This hurts Mitt more than anyone. Lets see what tomorrow’s day of Establishment rage brings Rick’s way. John McCain was just on Gretta doing damage control harshing on Rick’s earmarks. I am not going to check Matt Grudge , but he must have 12 anti Rick headlines in the can . Bob Dole must be preparing a column. Christ Christy and Man Coulter should be ripe with bully zingers.

  15. WAHOO!!! GO RICK, GO RICK, GO RICK!!!

  16. Congratulations CO, MN, MO. You’ve sent a loud message *again* to the country club RINO elites. I’m sure they’ll ignore it like all the other ones we’ve sent, but many of us admire your attempt to remind them that the only thing standing between them and Obama’s collectivization of their companies, properties and wealth are us middle class tea party folk.

  17. It should be the other Rick (Perry) getting those votes, but apparently the Republicans don’t want a real conservative.

  18. I hope that voters at the caucus will remember these numbers, plus the fact that Rick ctually had the courtesy to court our vote, versus newt who couldn’t be bothered to pay the fee to be put on the ballot, or mittens, who didn’t deem us worthy! Next stop, clean up the GOP, and then the senate and veto proof the house—then we can keep any of these guys in check! And of course get rid of the usurper ;)

  19. Thank God! I’m awake again.

  20. #19 noislamocommie

…said exactly what I was thinking.

    GO RICK!

  21. Rick and Romney are tied in Colorado with 11% reporting.

    http://www.cnn.com/election/2012/primaries/state/co

  22. The stupid party is at it again doing everything it can to tear itself apart practically guaranteeing Obama a second term. I agree just about entirely with Santorum on social and fiscal issues and really appreciate his integrity but he has zero chance of mounting and winning a national election. Romney can.

  23. Thank God we have an alternative to Newt and Romney. (both Rinos)

  24. Praise the Lord for small mercies! However, I do not think Santorum will be the nominee.

  25. The message in this? America HATES negative advertising. The HATE all the BS sniping and childish backbiting. Santorum has been talking about the issues.

Another very scary omen for Romney. Evangelicals DO NOT and WILL NOT vote for a Mormon, period.

My problem with Santorum? I just don’t like him personally. He comes across like a whiney, snotty nosed brat to me. No gravitas at all. Just purely a personal issue for me. Don’t like him.

Romney has GOT to be nervous over this.

  26. Rick can win. Romney is the one that is too much like Obama. We didn’t want Romney in 2008 and don’t want him now.

  27. Good news!

mittens romneycare induces vomiting in much the same fashion as comrade downgrade.

  28. Mitchell I’m one of those that will never vote Mitt but it has nothing to do with religion. It has to do with his policies. TARP-Indiv Mandate-climate chg-minimum wage indexing-

  29. I wonder if we’ll have to bear more DC elite commentators, analysts and pundits waxing eloquently this next week on how the Tea Party is dead, unreliable, not dependable, AWOL, etc.

  30. The devil has overplayed his hand. From Rmoney’s savage attack ads, Obama’s Unholy war on the Church, to Madonna’s Pagan Amazon Whore of Babalon festival at the superbowl…. too much darkness has been summoned and people are running to the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood sweater boy. I would rather vote for Newt, I will gladly vote for Santorum, Paul should primary Obama…I cannot vote for Rmoney.

  31. Just great news.

    Congratulations, Rick Santorum!

albeit they say a brokered convention has a slim chance to none of

  34. There is NO WAY he can defeat Obama. He is just not up to the task.

  35. And to think, at one time Newt wanted Rick to drop out of the race.

  36. It does look like Santorum is poised to win all zero delegates at stake tonight.

The big loser is Gingrich, who will find it even harder to raise money, and at his burn rate he can’t go very long. Callista ain’t staying in no Holiday Inn with the hoi polloi.

At least Santorum is a decent human being.

  37. Further evidence that the GOP nomination is a two-man race – Romney or Paul

Ron Paul surges to second place in national GOP poll: Romney 29%, Paul 21% http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/07/us-usa-campaign-poll-idUSTRE81514720120207

  38. I’m glad that those are the people who apparently are the “bitter clinger’s” Obama and Romney are afraid of the most because they are the one’s who have the first opportunity to change the music in this dance, because I’m tired of doing the two step stepping from one then the other like there are only two. There’s not only two, there are three, and yes, I am not counting Ron Paul because he’s a crackpot who is fine on some things but out of touch with all the rest of the issues.

But Santorum is the best candidate because he is a man who has a history of being a conservative and doesn’t make deals. No, he hasn’t been living in Washington like Newt, and hasn’t run multimillion dollar corporations like Romney, but he has the one thing going for him and that is he knows what needs to be done to turn this country around based on the Constitution. I’m not saying that Newt or Romney don’t, but what they would do to turn the country around would not be entirely based on the Constitution. They would do what they know best, and only if they absolutely needed to would they use the Constitution. Santorum on the other hand knows how to use the Constitution in order to turn the country around that the Democrats could not stop.

The one thing we are going to have to watch out for is, What Does The Media Have Planned For This Candidate That They Have Not Used On The Others? That’s the name of a book that needs to be written by someone who knows all the tricks the media, leftists, liberals, Socialists, Marxists, and Communists use in order of assention as they need to ratchet things up as opposition gets stronger, or the next move to keep the American people off balance. Liberals use these tactics all the time to keep American’s off balance. Obama did it just now with his passing of this edict of making the churches and chaplins go against their religious beliefs. See, it was enough to throw everyone off and take everyone’s eyes off of what it is who the Republican candidates are. Then what they do is right after that they throw another bomb with the homo judge passing opinion that says the voters are a bunch of homophobes when it comes to marrage. See, Obama can make another one of those midnight calls on that damn Black Berry that he refused to turn over to the FBI, and then Obama piles it on today by saying that we ought to send weapons to the “rebels” in Syria. REBEL’S, what rebel’s. There are only terrorists in Syria. There are no such thing as rebel’s in the Middle East. It’s a Islamic take over and there are two sides, the Western, U.N. influenced Syrian government terrorists, and the pure Islamic terrorists. But, they’re all terrorists.

  39. Time for Gingrich to quit acting as a spoiler and drop out to back Santorum. Rasmussen has Santorum in a statistical tie with Obama.

What do you need to support Santorum?

  40. Skip===== HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW!!!

  41. #37 – AMEN!

It does look like Santorum is poised to win all ZERO delegates at stake tonight.

  42. Just watching Romney’s “concession speech”… that man must keep several shrinks well paid. What is with his strange regression to telling stories about “my dad”? Is this some pathological clinging and desiring for daddy to come write checks to get Mittens out of the latest uh-oh?

Santorum needs serious coaching. He is a man that believes deep down that he’s a loser, and it shows. He may be a very nice man (though his extreme social conservativism suggests skeletons in closets somewhere) but there’s an intense anger beneath the surface. I also can’t help noticing how his langauge and nonverbals are almost a dead ringer for another politician in my favorite movie ever (Spoiler Alert: You’ll never see Santorum the same if you watch this short movie clip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLf0y_6ieAc

    “I love Missouri!” indeed.

She never endorsed Newt. She can change her stance anytime she wants.

She should now give a call to Newt and ask him if he really thinks he can win and pull what Newt pulled on Santorum, ask Newt if he should drop out and endorse Santorum. But done in private.

Santorum has better numbers head to head than ANY of the other candidates. That include you Paulbots.

I would vote for Santorum to keep this thing going. Wink, wink.

Rick Santorum just swept Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado. This is not just a fluke. Voters are signaling something here and it is not a good sign for Team Romney.

  72. If Santorum is the nominee, NOT ONLY will the GOP be crushed by Obama in November… but you won’t have the RINOs to blame for it anymore!

  74. Santorum is a classic example of a “big-government conservative.” While Santorum did not advocate for federal health care mandates, he has pushed hard for the expansion of federal power throughout his career.

Looking at Santorum’s broader record in Congress reveals that he is plenty comfortable with having the federal government tell you what to do on a large number of issues, only when it comes to health care mandates does Santorum become wary.

  76. 77, Wow, using Reagan to be a Moby, you are REALLY pushing the envelope with that one!

  77. Unlike Newt and Mitt, Rick Santorum stood in oppossition to NDAA

    He’s got my vote.

  78. Come the general election, I’ll vote for whoever gets nominated just to get Obama out. And every one of you who cares about this country should do so as well. But in primary season, it’s vote for the one you feel is most compatible with your own views. While not my first pick, of those still in the race, that’s Santorum. But please none of this “If my guy doesn’t win I just won’t vote” bit. Nobody on the Republican side is worse for the country then our current socialist. That’s what we’ve got to remember. Even Ron Paul has less dangerous ideas than the ones that drive Obama to reshape our country into even more of a Marxist state than he already has.

  79. Santorum can make a great contrast to Obama. Has he made some bad decisions, yes he has but at least he has the tenacity to admit them. Not only can Rick contrast himself on healthcare, climate chg, TARP,minimum wage indexing which Romney can’t but with Obama’s attack on religion, the judicial attack on marriage and Planned Parenthood attack on Susan G Koman this makes Rick ever more stronger.

Romney began his attacks on Rick with his surrogates yesterday but today it will get really ugly. I think Rick will be able to withstand it and there is no doubt in my mind that he can beat Obama. Even this morning the media is attacking Rick, no money, no organization blah, blah, blah. But he won with no money and no organization.

    Go Rick!!

  80. Mitt Romney would be crushed by Obama (Romney would not get my vote since I am a conservative who would never vote for a Democrat and Romney v Obama = Democrat vs Democrat). Santorum I could vote for!

    Go Rick!

  81. Wed morning- Poor Mitt but his fan club over at MSNBC is so sad…
Do we wantto nominate a cadidate that MSNBC is so sad about?
does that mean that mitt won;t be a punching bag for Obama?Ot that msnbc

  82. SANTORUM COULDN’T EVEN CARRY PENNSYLVANIA AGAINST OBAMA.

    JUST SAYING.

THE VOTERS IN YESTERDAY’S CONTESTS MIGHT AS WELL HAVE VOTED FOR BACHMANN OR CAIN.

OF COURSE, THE LEFT-WING MEDIA IS LOVING IT:

THEY KNOW ROMNEY IS THE MOST FORMIDABLE CANDIDATE OBAMA CAN FACE,

  87. This is good. Getting past the vicious yet silly rhetoric I’m seeing here, trashing one or another of the Republican candidates, these results are good for the process. It keeps the race open, gives voters a choice, and keeps the candidates sharp.

Unlike the petulant folks who pout and threaten to take their marbles and go home (if this candidate or that candidate is nominated), my November choice is simple, clear, and absolutely unshakable. I’ll be voting for the Republican nominee, whoever it is. To do otherwise would assist Comrade Barry in obtaining another four years in office, time enough to finish wrecking the country.

Anyone who refuses to vote for the Republican and against Obama is either a leftist or an immature tantrum-throwing loon. I really don’t like being so pointed about it, but I’m getting damned sick and tired of some of the ridiculous “I intend to shoot myself in the foot cuz I’m mad” comments I’m seeing.

  90. What does ANN the MAN Coulter have to say.

  91. Obama has made the Catholic Church face a cruel choice between providing charitable services or being faithful to the laws of God. The R establishment has imposed the same cruel choice upon its members by force feeding Rmoney. Quit your political activities, or be a complete sell out hypocrite to the policies you hold dear and vote for someone who is basically Obama with whiter skin. I think Newt can win over the Clinton Democrats. Santorum would be a repeat of the disasterous candidacy of Alf Landon in 1936, but I can vote for him . I can’t vote for Rmoney….> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alf_Landon

  92. I still can’t believe after 3+ years of Obama, this field is the best the GOP could give us? I don’t like any of them, but still plan to vote against Obama regardless of who the GOP ends up putting on the ballot. A bit of news for those who support Romney: my husband works in Water Tower Place and the Hancock Building in Chicago, and he was walking out behind a couple of obviously very wealthy ladies who are none too happy that Romney doesn’t care about them either. That man has managed to alienate every group except the Mormons, I believe. I’m starting to think that the only thing that will get Obama out is these gas prices they are saying will be $5 a gallon here in the midwest this summer, because everything is about to get a lot more expensive.

  93. In 2006, Rick Santorum took this honor as one of the most corrupt politicians in Senate…wow! How quick the social sedate public forgets.

Rick Santorum is not a conservative by voting record, even his nephew says so as he endorsed Ron Paul.

” If you want another big-government politician who supports the status quo to run our country, you should vote for my uncle, Rick Santorum. America is based on a strong belief in individual liberty. My uncle’s interventionist policies, both domestic and foreign, stem from his irrational fear of freedom not working.

It is not the government’s job to dictate to individuals how they must live. The Constitution was designed to protect individual liberty. My Uncle Rick cannot fathom a society in which people cooperate and work with each other freely. When Republicans were spending so much money under President Bush, my uncle was right there along with them as a senator. The reason we have so much debt is not only because of Democrats, but also because of big-spending Republicans like my Uncle Rick.”

On top of this, his record as a politician is even worse. He has not been elected to anything for 5 years, lost big time in 2006, supported Obama supporting- republican leaving- democrat becoming Arlen Spector who voted for Obamacare, and in 2006 he was voted as one of the nations most corrupt politicians.

Awareness Is Power, Ignorance Is No Longer Bliss!

  94. There is a sacredness in marriage between a man and woman that is not only ordained by God, if you believe, but also ordained by nature. If two men or two women were alone on an island, humanity would end. There is something to honor here, something that is worth protecting.

However, in this belief, I am still troubled by the words that Sen. Sentorum chooses to use as he refers to the gay community. I respect marriage, but I also have several gay friends and relatives for whom I feel Mr. Santorum alienates with this choice of words. Social conservatives may love this kind of talk, but this social moderate conservative who is Catholic does not.

  95. Great for Santorum. He is definitely a good man. He too would be a great candidate against Obama.

And is a message of sort, to those who have been gloating over Romney.

  96. Alot of whiney posters that think of nothing but

    Themselves.

  97. Now that Santorum has won a primary it is time for Obama to unleash his dogs of war, the media. When they finish even his mother wouldn’t vote for him. Just remember even Annie Oakley was a slut, a drug addict, and a thief. Just ask the media. I am sure even after she won 54 of 55 slander law suites some people still believed the lies! The media has the tv cameras, they must be Gods!

  98. I am so confused by the republicans at this point. Is this the unwavering moral Rock of Gibralter who gave us Arlen Specter? Just checking.

  99. Santorum Sweep

As of today, Rick Santorum officially has no more delegates than he had yesterday. That said, as CNN is just now this moment calling Colorado for Santorum in a stunning upset, his clean sweep of the states who voted/caucused today is a stunning rebuke to both Romney’s purported march through February and Newt Gingrich’s position as the favored not-Romney candidate.

Santorum’s performance was impressive in each state, vastly outperforming his position in the polls, which had him losing by 9 points in Colorado (he won by 5) and winning by only 9 in Minnesota (he won by 18). It is hard to tell who got clobbered worse – Romney, who fell all the way to third in Minnesota, or Gingrich, who finished well behind the flailing Romney in every state. Newt Gingrich didn’t even bother to give a speech tonight, which was probably a good idea if Romney’s shell-shocked and confused concession was any indication of what we could have expected. Although Santorum didn’t get any official delegates tonight, he certainly has bought himself one heck of a news cycle, and has in one day sucked the oxygen out of virtually every other campaign with the stunning results tonight.

For about the 9th or 10th time during this news cycle, the race has fundamentally changed its structure. For the first time I can recall, we are less than a month away from Super Tuesday and no one has any idea what is going to happen. Right now the question becomes whether Rick Santorum can get himself the money and organization to make this last beyond this week and into expensive contests in the larger states. One thing is for sure – this thing is a long way from over.

  100. Yeah, the whole party has lost its way. It might just all be over for us. This is the best we can do? Newt is flawed, but at least he isn’t a 10 watt bulb. These guys are about as exciting as a slice of Velveeta, Santorum and Romney.

Santorum got thumped senseless out of his own Senate seat by an historic margin of defeat. The media has been painting him as a creepy, anti-privacy Church lady for 15 years, and it’s largely worked. He’s come out against Griswold v CT, Lawrence v Texas..very dangerous positions. The moderate moms are truly going to worry about him snooping around their bedrooms. Maybe they’re right to worry. I mostly agree with the guy, I’d vote for him, I’d be happier with him as President than with Mittbama or Oromney, but I don’t know if he has the “Vision Thing”, and he can’t hold his own in national debates with Obama.

If he couldn’t win his PA Senate seat as an incumbent, I really don’t see how he can unseat a sitting President. Just a reminder that Newt Gingrich ran a successful National campaign that neutered the Leftists in the Clinton Administration, ran a Congress that shifted their radical agenda 180 degrees and obtained some of the most Conservative legislative outcomes since WWII. Welfare reform…and he shoved it right down Bill and Hillary’s throats and it was signed into law. That’s what a junkyard dog gets done. We need that, the country is spiraling down the drain!

  101. Take THAT, Drudge, Trump and Ann Coulter! Try telling conservatives who to vote for again. See how that works out for ya.

  102. Congrats Rick!
Can we now be rid of the 2-time 2-timer and his plastic homewrecker wife #3?

  103. I was hoping that American’s would finally wake up and listen to real conservatism when they hear it. It’s like Santorum says, he’s not the conservative alternative to Romney, he’s the conservative alternative to Obama. And that is why I have supported him and Michele Bachmann as the only two real conservatives in this race. When he wasn’t getting support I kept telling people to vote for a real conservative, who has a history or conservatism, not somebody like Newt who has a history of doing deals with Democrats, or Romney who is a Democrat and also his one greatest sin and that is his close ties to ObamaCare due to he and his healthcare team worked with Obama to create ObamaCare patterned off of RomneyCare. I was trying to tell people that Romney has had it I didn’t care how many states he won, or why the GOP’ers wanted him to be the nominee, he’s a liberal Republican who is just like Obama in many ways and would not repeal ObamaCare as soon as he gets into office if, IF he won. I don’t think the American people could hold their noses that tight to keep from still smelling a skunk.

Read Mark Levin’s new book, “Ameritopia”, and VOTE SANTORUM, THE ONLY REAL CONSERVATIVE LEFT IN THIS RACE!!

So … don’t force a socialist like Romney down our throats. It’s that simple. If you’re moronic enough to vote for Romney, you have nobody to blame but yourself. It’s real simple …

We’re done allowing liberals who have taken over the GOP to choose our candidate and then tell us we have to vote for him. DONE DONE DONE! If you want to elect socialists, join the Democratic Party and leave us be.

It’s not the fault of those choosing to sit out. It’s the fault of those who ignore the warnings and insist on nominating socialist morons to represent us. Blame yourself.

How’s that worked out for you so far? Went really well last time around, didn’t it? You go ahead and announce to the GOP that you’ll go right along with their plan and vote for whatever joke they force upon you, if it makes you feel like a man. Too bad you’re not bright enough to figure out that you’re being used and following like the good little lamb that you are. If you want to vote for one socialist over another, that’s up to you. I don’t vote for socialists, regardless of the Party they say they represent.

I have a suggestion for you and for all the others who love to post on every thread how devoted you are and how you’re committed to voting for whoever they throw at you, regardless. If all of you spent as much effort advertising your commitment to REFUSE to vote for anyone who’s actions did not match their rhetoric, and you voting in primaries MATCHED that committment, we wouldn’t be given such pathetic candidates in the first place.

Stop blaming us and look in the mirror. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Ripped, I hope your candidate is Ron Paul, because if not, you’re an amazing hypocrite. Of course, ANY Romney or Gingrich supporter who dares to attack Rick Santorum as “not being a true conservative” is a bit of a nutjob, don’t you think? How does one possibly attack ANYONE as not being a true conservative, and then support Mitt Romney?

But that’s what we tend to see from Mitt Romney supporters, don’t we? It’s almost as if … they’re on his campaign staff.

Why do some Christians suddenly throw God out the window, and everything they believe in, as soon as they find out they “have friends” or relatives who violate basic laws of nature? How many times do we hear … “I don’t really believe in the gay lifestyle, but I have friends who are gay and they’re very good people?”

I get it. You don’t want to lose your friends and you love your relatives. But why are people such cowards that they can’t simply stand on their beliefs?

Look, the fact that one of my best friends or favorite relatives might be gay does not make me suddenly think it’s perfectly normal or okay and I’m not going to sell out God to keep a friend or avoid making someone angry at me. Get a spine.

  108. Santorum is a religious nutjob.

  109. Paz is our chief agent of influence here at the GRU. Unfortunately because of his sexual preferences even the Stasi wouldn’t touch him. Naturally he was welcomed at Barrack’s WH.

It’s no wonder he fears someone like Santorum.

  112. This is why I will not vote for Rick Santorum.
