Young leftists, no doubt.

Protesters attacked police in Athens with rocks and firebombs today after austerity talks.

The young leftists were not happy with the spending cuts.

  1. The mobs don’t like losing out on their “free” stuff (that someone else worked to earn).

  2. Athens Ga, Tx. ??

    Ya I know, Greece.

  3. Coming to a town near you

  4. Nice to see that Greece has a TEA party, too. Those people can’t be leftists. The DemocRats told me that the leftists are “fresh,” “young” and “peace-loving.”

  5. Hmmm… freebies make people feel ENTITLED… surprise

  6. Here is a piece of organ music composed by the Church of Satan…..> http://youtu.be/jNf1lNAx_aE

Play this video and the Greek riot video together starting at the same time . See how the fireball explosions provide perfect percussion to the music. The gates of Hell are now wide open . The Devil has come to collect the soul of man. Tred carefully and be sure your path is right with the Lord.

  7. Some of the arms are pretty good. Perhaps they should go to spring training and ask for a tryout,

  8. That’s what ‘gimme the freebies’ looks like.

  9. “At least 10 buildings were on fire, including a movie theater, bank and cafeteria”

And at least one historical landmark.

This makes me glad that the British Museum did not return the Elgin Marbles to Greece. Between corrupt politicians, dishonest citizens and rampaging leftists, they would not be safe in Greece.

  10. But they always seem to have gasoline to throw away at the police… and iPhones to record the effects. Maybe some genuine austerity would teach them a lesson.

  11. Protesters attacked police in Athens with rocks and firebombs today after austerity talks.

The impression I get from this is that so long as the “protesters” are collecting their government handout, they don’t care whether the ship slips under the waves.

Is this how the entitlement mentality here in the U.S. is destined to end up as if it’s not reversed?

  12. is this occuppy greece? more people that didn’t hear obama’s speech on civility.

  13. Man, they are really going to be sad when they find out this is all just to get another loan. Wait until someone explains to them they actually have to pay the loans back and just what that is going to entail. By time this is all said and done they can forget about things like early retirement and vacations, the “gimme” crowd are going to become intimate with what national debt slavery is all about. If they are lucky they will only have to sacrifice a generation or two to pay the piper and get free of it.

  14. Commendable, if somewhat incomprehensible, restraint shown by the police. Bullets would be a more proper response to having Molotov cocktails thrown at them.

  15. Greece will never pay its debts. It has defaulted six times since it became independent in 1836 thanks to British & French intervention. It has been a failed sciety since the Pelopponesian Wars of the 4th century BC. The EU sealed its doom when it incorporated the disaster that is Greece & the Greeks, a culture that has been a failure for more than 2 millenia.

  16. This is what happens with the socialist state when it runs out of funding and the music stops. It will occur here, barring an incredibly well-orchestrated set of reforms whose timing is commensurate with a job boom. Even then, the notion that some who have enjoyed not working for a long time (perhaps multi-generational) will suddenly obtain motivation while at the same time being cut off and denied “social justice.”
In a perfect world, one would desire to implement change gradually. When you run to the point of insolvency, that becomes a nonoption.
I cannot fathom how quickly some areas will devolve once hyper inflation or an end of programs actually hits.
This is the consequence of democrat policies and media complicity, both of which rendered the opposition party incapable of sustaining power AND drawing back programs at the same time.

  17. These idiot demonstrators don’t GET it. The money to pay for their bread and circuses is GONE. Finito. Done. No more. Protesting is not going to bring it back any more than protesting will make the sky turn green. No matter how big a stink they make, there is NO MONEY LEFT to pay for what they want. Scream all you want, you babies—it won’t change reality.

  18. No matter how big a stink they make, there is NO MONEY LEFT to pay for what they want.

Not having any money doesn’t seem to stop Obama.

  19. Wait until the EBT cards stop working here. Wait until we have to cut off the free rent, free food, free cell phones. We’ve had riots here before, now imagine we tell the leeches they have to fend for themselves…and..horror of horrors, they might actually have to W O R K! Bet they’d rather die.

  20. I wish the police on the scene would arest ordetain 10 ors protestors and see what their IDshows.
I bet they are not even Greek

  21. This is America in 2035. I pity the cretins who voted for Obama. They shall reap what he sowed.

  22. countries adopted socialism, and now its about to bankrupt a continent. these were some of the richest countries in the world and socialism squandered all their wealth in fifty years.

here in the united states we have cities that have adopted socialism and they are bankrupting states, eventually it will be the whole country.

  23. Tommy, well, we aim to keep it (socialism) out of our state, come hell or high water.

I read one measure Greece took to raise revenue was a tax increase. Appears that worked out well.

  24. The Dems should take notes. Socialism does not work as proved by Greece and before that by the former USSR.

  25. Socialism does not work as proved by Greece and before that by the former USSR.

Democrats have heads of concrete. They firmly believe that their brand of socialism will work. It has to.

  26. the rubes are expendible they just don’t know it. like most good bank robbery movies the main culprit knocks off the accomplices after the heist and skips off with the loot. how much of the drive for socialism is driven by greed……the transfer of wealth from those labeled as
the enemy into the pockets of those who label themselves as liberators.

  27. The Greeks, Arabs without the charm.

  28. Why isn’t the Greek police or military shooting these criminals? Throwing a firebomb is attempted murder. Take this stuff seriously.

  29. I think it is only a matter of time before we have another wave of communist revolutions across Europe. Greece will probably be the first and as a NATO member we may be dragged into it.

  30. How is this different than what happened to Egypt, Libya, Syria, Yeman, and the rest of the Arab spring. Shouldn’t Hilliary be calling for the Greek govt to fail.

  31. Why doesn’t Greece sign an trade treaty with Cuba, that should make both countries rich…
    Righ..t!!!

  32. This whole business of an austerity pact between Greece and the EU has been a charade. Violence from the unions and the students, who see the end to the government gravy train looming, is utterly predictable. We will be reading about people being killed in Zeropa eventually. Do-nothing, produce-nothing parasites are the most dangerous element in any society. We’ve seen it happen in this country, although not in a big way since the early 1990s.

Greece is only the most obvious failure of democratic socialism. We’re still in early days. It’s only going to get worse, no matter how much happy-talk one hears in the media.

  33. Molon Labe#23

Wow, talk about a hypcocrite. Straight from the conservative who’s voting for Obama in November:

True colors shine through. I love it.
Molon labe likes to challenge everybody else’s conservatism and call names like it was the schoolyard, but here you have it in his own words.

He won’t simply stay home in protest on election day, making it one vote easier for Obama to win, but rather will proactively go out and vote Obama (to spite Romney apparently!).

Molon Labe your conservative creds are revoked. Please stop posting on this conservative blog.
