Nancy Pelosi smeared the GOP and Catholic Church leaders today in a special Democrat hearing on the HHS mandate.
Despite the recent statements by Catholic Church leaders, Nancy Pelosi, who considers herself a Catholic, defended the anti-religious healthcare mandate.
The Hill reported:
House Democrats kept pressing their case on contraception Thursday, using a hearing on the issue to hammer the GOP and frame the debate around women’s health.
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) organized the hearing after an Oversight Committee panel last week did not include any female witnesses who support the White House’s order requiring employers and insurance companies to cover birth control.
Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University law student who wasn’t allowed to testify last week, emphasized Thursday that many women use contraception for reasons other than preventing pregnancy. She recounted the stories of friends and classmates who rely on contraception for other medical reasons.
Those examples helped reinforce Democrats’ argument that the contraception debate is fundamentally about women’s health. Catholic organizations and Republican critics say the debate is about religious freedom and whether the White House is forcing some religious employers to provide services they believe are immoral.
Fluke said support for the White House policy is not “a war against the church” but rather a “struggle” for access to affordable contraception…
…Pelosi repeatedly said the fight over the contraception mandate is about women’s health and criticized Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) for not allowing Fluke to testify at last week’s hearing.
“It wasn’t about church and state, it was about an ideological point of view,” Pelosi said.
On Monday during an event at Texas A&M University, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi claimed the Catholic Church has never enforced its teaching on contraception and that the church is now looking to the federal government to enforce that teaching for it.

When I was young, my Catholic family was not alone in having 8 children. In fact, we were neither unusual nor particaularly large for our Parish, where 10 and higher children were common in a family.
Now Catholics have 1, 2, 3, and many have even smaller families. Some Catholic couples are childless by choice.
The idea that Roman Catholics follow the church’s teaching is impossible to believe.
The Roman Catholic Bishops have cornered Obama in some ways, but they do not make attractive spokesmen since many Evangelicals believe the Catholic Bishops and particularly The Bishop of Rome are abominations. See a Series called Know Your Enemy on You Tube. To Evangelicals often the Bishops in their medieval outfits are Satanic. They can forge an alliance against Obama in terms of my enemy’s enemy is my friend, but Birth Control is not a very good issue.
I wish the Bishops would excommunicate abortion and Birth Control and other Catholics who do not follow the church’s top-down power structure. Catholics are NOT Protestants, and the Pope will never consent to female priests or a merger with other church’s unless the protesters come back in the fold. That is how it should be, because only one truth can be the truth. With clear lines, people can declare themselves.
Pelosi may be an enemy of Christianity, but she is correct about the state of catholic Theology. The Bishops turn their faces when the truth faces them squarely. At a minimum the church should call men and women in one by one and demand that each answer questions about their obedience to church policies. If the congregation is full of non-believers, pitch them out.

Does she mean like how the Taliban enforces Sharia? With beheadings and stoning?
Our God gave us a free will on the condition we pay for our sins at HIS judgment. Pelosi is being her usual idiotic self.

Uh no. The RCC can run it’s church as it sees fit. When it decides to buy a BUSINESS then it runs that business according to regulations and it’s superstitions can go hang. If they find that stifling they are free to divest themselves of said businesses and go back to being just a church. What they are not free to do is to force their views on their employees who do not have to abide by their religion.
There is afterall a freedom of religion aspect here- that of the employees, not of the bosses.
“Wish the Dems would STOP trying to change the narrative!”
Again- no. Your narrative is false. Our narrative is true. More than that our narrative is also a political winner. You guys pulled the pin on a grenade and then promptly chose to sit on it. Don’t beg us to save you from your own stupidity. Enjoy losing the female vote by 20 points.

Today Obama is going for Latino vote.
The campaign is in full swing, he needs more of the youth and he is working on that too.
It is real amazing that of all things to be the hot topic, what do the Democrats talk about, Birth Control.
The Catholics will make a statement loud and clear in November. But what is so amazing is the 5 trillion in debt, gas prices increased 88% since Obama, Fast and Furious, Iran and China, Iraq killed 42 people today and injured 100′s. Syria, NK, the list is endless.
And JOBS, Home foreclosures still haven’t bottom out. Legal Fees Top $100M for Ex-Fannie and Freddie Executives, and Taxpayers Cover the Tab for Legal fees.
Solyndras.
What does Obama say today, drill is a bumper stick and his next “5″years as president.
Pelosi belongs in a home.
We need real goals and real tax reform and a president that will own up to his mistakes and in place of the arrogance in office today. A leader not someone who insults us. And bows to our enemies.

I don’t ever watch Colbert, that nut case comedian who does somekind of a news program on TV. But I was rolling last night and Pelosi was on his show. Now, Colbert had a ash cross on his forehead like the kind you get on Good Friday. That’s why I was wondering when that show was shown originally. Anyway Pelosi was on the show wearing a fire engine red pant suit with red pumps and a red bead necklace. The reason why I noticed her outfit was I thought “Who does she think she is, Gloria Allred?” . Any way Colbert and her were going back and forth about the rich running government (the rich are already running government), but Colbert was going on in his typical way. Pelosi remarked well Steve, “if the rich ran the government that would be a orlegarchi?,” she then came right back and said, “we don’t have that in America, we are a Democracy.” I liked to have fell off the couch! I yelled at her on the TV, “Nancy, we aren’t a Democracy!! We are a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC!!!”
I thought, “No wonder she continually screws up and doesn’t know what she’s doing, and continually makes the wrong kind of laws that violate the Constitution, she thinks we’re a Democracy!” “She doesn’t know we’re a Constitutional Republic where every single thing a representative does must be Constitutional. Every bill must agree with the Constitution, and only then can it be sent to the President for signing into law.” No wonder she doesn’t make sense when she’s talking about our government, she’s in some fantasy country that isn’t even this country. She’s in La La Land and doesn’t know she lives in America.
And now she’s suggesting that this attack on Christianity is just about women’s health? What a lame excuse. She’s another expert in twisting the truth and confusing what the truth actually is, and not knowing which side of history she’s on, and not knowing how to make law in a Constitutional Republic which causes her all kinds of problems when it comes to getting such things as ObamaCare passed when everyone is against it. She just deems it passed without a vote. Well, that’s the sort of thing that goes on in a Democracy. In a Democracy a person is voted into office and then goes into the government and does whatever they want thinking what they are doing is helping the country.
Would somebody drive a D-9 cat over her head, please!!

many women use contraception for reasons other than preventing pregnancy.
How many, what percentage? 1.2%-1.5%?
This is an attempt to elevate a fringe circumstance to the center of the issue in order to change the narrative.
Robert commented:
Abortion is in the vast majority of cases done for the sake of convenience. Yet you always hear arguments about rape or incest used to justify it. They change the focus from the central issue to a fringe issue, and they are trying to do that here.
Let alone that fact that we are so far removed from Constitutional duties of the federal government that it is obscene.

As Pelosi said, “we have to pass it to find out what is in it.” The truth is that this mandate is only a harbinger of things to come under OBAMACARE.
The Mandate violates the First Amendment. It is almost as perfect an example of the Progressives’ belief that the end justifies the means as the Cornhuskers’ Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase, and all of the special exemptions and waivers granted to the Unions. As for me, I would rather have my freedom than have the Government in charge of my healthcare and using Other People’s Money to pay for it!

Wrong! The debate is the Administration telling the church they must provide something the church doesn’t except in their faith and then you libs spin this in to a womans health issue. Nice try, but thats your M.O., taking the focus off the narrative. (Saul Alinsky rules for radicals move, plan as day.
Political winner???? Womans healthcare vs. the constitutional violation??? The constitution ALLWAYS wins out.

You don’t “hate to say” anything that you think you can use to enable the Left. From the mouth of a troll Left political hack. Playing politics is something you know up and down left and left.
Since you’re so insider, can you tell us all how a know-nothing law graduate student has the connections to be lined up to “testify” to Congress … ? I think the Pope or the Bishop of San Francisco or Cardinal Dolan should call for Pelosi’s excommunication along with Sebilius. Publicly announce that they do not represent the Catholic Church in the least. Maybe that will shut them up acting as if they speak for Catholics and have any business telliing the church what to do. No one is trying to take away birth control. We just don’t think anyone should be forced to pay for it if they consciously object to it. Personally I don’t care if people use birth control or not, I just don’t understand why it needs to be free. My chemo drugs aren’t free.
